Finding a authentic Italian Restaurant in this area is hard. I mentioned to my husband... Ee never been in Sicilia? How will the dishes be like? IDK he said...let's give it a try, we will share a plate. I said ok... sounds fair... We had a Josephine's Combo. With two meatballs, an Italian sausage, Penne Pasta smothered in Bolognese Sauce. The restaurant's ambiance is very romantic. And the staff are nice and knowledgeable of the dishes. If you are looking for authentic flavors, this is a place you must go.

Combo meatball and Italian sausage with pasta and shrimp tortellini with bolognese and cream sauce dinners

There is a limited menu which changes every week and it is a very small place that does not take reservations! We came on Sat. night but only waited about 20 minutes even though there were a lot of people waiting. It is worth any wait! What a wonderful dining experience! House wine is only $6. I had pinot nor which was very light and delicious and my hubby had moscato which he enjoyed. We ordered a caprese salad and side salad which bad a very vinegary dressing which i loved. The freshly made bread was warm and served with seasoned oil. We added some pepper and parmesan cheese (which are conveniently on the table) and it was great. I got a pesto tortellini with cream and bolognes sauce with shrimp and my hubby got 2 ginormous meatballs and big piece of sausage with pasta with bolognes sauce. Both were extraordinary and huge portions. Lemoncello and peanut better chocolate cake for dessert! Wonderful service too! It was like we were in Italy for a brief moment! Thank you for one of the most enjoyable dining experiences we have ever had!

Sorry, just can't give it more than 3 stars compared to everyone else giving it 4 or 5 stars. Based on all the reviews, I can see why there was a line at 445p before their 5p opening. All the tables were filled within minutes of opening. First off, I really enjoyed the ambience of the place. Nice bar and small dining room. Service by Shannon was good. However, it has a very limited menu.... I believe there were only 5 entrees and 4 appetizers options. We did get a very nice house salad... with cold lettuce, tomatoes and mozzarella cheese with a tasty Italian dressing. I ordered Josephine's Meatball and home made sausage in a Bolognese sauce. The dish came out piping out but sorry the 2 meatballs and one sausage were just ok..... nothing special. My wife ordered the Chicken Milanese and it looked and tasted like an Alfredo taste more than Milanese. Also, I found it strange that they give you a nice oil & basil to dip your bread in but they only give you 2 pieces of bread and the Waitress never offered more bread. Sorry...I wouldn't go back.

Cool little Italian restaurant. We chose it off yelp. Everything was excellent. Very small. Felt like a local place.

Excellent tasty Italian food. Delicious sauces with the seasoning just right. Pesto and olive oil for bread dipping was also great.

As always, everything is top notch and delicious. It's a limited menu, but what they do, they do to perfection!

They can always make a pasta primavera which is past and veggies and they can do it with olive oil or in a marinara. There's also the option of marinara and pasta, or a salad! Since the menu changes every week, there is usually another few options… Read more

It has always been good, and we definitely won't let this deter us from returning. Ms T had her usual Shrimp basket lunch. The issue was that the shrimp were not cooked through. They were still translucent. We totally understand not wanting to overcook shrimp, but these were not quite done. On the bright side she commented on how good the slaw was. I have been on a kick to try barbecue at restaurants that are not barbecue joints per se, to see if I can find some hidden gems. For example, both Sam & Omie's and Wanchese Marina serve a good barbecue sandwich. Black Pelican, at least on this day, does not. I must say, the serving was huge. This was more than enough for two meals for me. The barbecue was dry and not well flavored. The texture and flavor was more like dried out beef that has been over-roasted. This is not something I would order again here. All that being said, I am leaving the rating for Black Pelican as it is because we have always had good meals here. I accept that it can't be 100% perfect every time and sooner or later we will run into something that is less than stellar. We will continue to return. I just know this not where I will have barbecue and we are sure the shrimp thing was just a one timer.

This was one of the few places that when we called around, didn't have a crazy long wait time so we ended up going here for dinner. The risotto was really good! The flavors were excellent and the seafood tasty. The portions were decent and I can see why it's one of their best selling dishes. I would totally get this again. The woodfired pizza was good but nothing to rave about. I got the Aloha one with pineapples, chicken, scallions and a white sauce. We got the bruschetta as an appetizer and that was really good - it also came out pretty fast. The rest of the food took a while to come out. The service was also not very fast. I might recommend this place from an ambience and historical perspective and maybe the food, but definitely not the service.
