This was a wonderful experience- the property is gorgeous with a great ambiance. Most importantly our hostess was very informative and did a great job introducing us to the brand. I mostly picked this place due to the scenery and did not expect to taste such great wines. They've recently been purchased by LV and the quality of the higher end reds makes it evident why. Definitely worth visiting and splurging on some nice bottles

    The view!

We had an exceptional wine tasting experience today at Joseph Phelps Winery. Michael, our guide, was not only knowledgeable about the different wines we tasted, but also gave us an informative lesson on the history of the area. Overall, I would give this wine tasting a 10 out of 10. When you come to Joseph Phelps Winery be sure to ask for Michael who will enhance your overall experience.

Among the top three of my favorite wineries in Napa! We came here because my friend is military and they have an amazing discount for active duty (2 complimentary founder's tastings!) and thoroughly enjoyed our tasting experience. I loved the small touches that make this feel like an intimate and customized experience, from the way our wine educator Leslie immediately greeted us by name upon arrival to the personalized tasting menus. Also, this was our first winery of the day and I'd barely eaten anything so I really appreciated the delicious snacks (miso truffle butter with olives and snack mix including macadamia nuts) that we were able to munch on while sipping wine over an absolutely beautiful view. Our educator walked us through the interesting history of Joseph Phelps as a winery from conception by Joe, an ex-military construction magnate who saw the enormous potential in Napa Valley while building wineries in the Bay -- all the way to present day, with the recent acquisition by Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton. She also had us sample the Vin du Mistral in two different glasses and to my surprise, they tasted completely different based on the shape of the glass. As a white wine girlie, I loved that we got to sample three different whites (sauvignon blanc, chardonnay and a bonus dessert wine at the end) so that the tasting was almost 50/50 reds/whites. We also got to try the winery's flagship 2022 Insignia blend (retails at over $250/bottle) , which interestingly has a completely different composition each year based on the harvest and ingredient quality. Highly recommend this winery on your next trip to Napa if you're looking for a serene and elevated tasting experience. Our seats offered sweeping, panoramic views of the rolling vineyards set against a stunning mountain backdrop~ Overall a well-balanced tasting which included fun tidbits about the history, farming techniques and wine blends to complement our tasting journey through the Sonoma/Central Coast and Napa Valley!

Great wine with great views. Our host/sommelier was great at explaining each wine and the history of Joseph Phelps. We opted for the Founder's tasting. It was a more laid back tasting as our host would explain each wine and then leave, only returning to pour the next wine. There was also a small snack tray provided with nuts, olives, and bread from Model Bakery - it paired well with all the wines. Our favorites from the day were the Chardonnay, and the insignia red. We ended up buying a bottle and were also able to denote a tip while paying through their iPad.

If you don't go here for your tasting, you will be a sad puppy. You have vineyards and then you have Joseph Phelps Vineyards. I remember them as far back as when Insignia was born!!! Those were the days! OK enough walking down memory lane.... Today, You have an ultra modern Winery with a million dollar view of the vineyards and valley as far as your eyes can see. You are greeted with a glass of sparkling wine that will keep you company as you peruse the winery. Get seated outside in the patio. Savor the view. Savor the taste of their wines. Enjoy the charcuterie Nuff said!

A gorgeous rich flavorful tasting today at Joseph Phelps Lesley took fabulous care of us . A delicious nibble of fresh tomatoes, olives, and sourdough bread with fresh butter and olive oil in between our fantastic tastings of course my favorite was the Pinot incredibly smooth all of the wines were smooth and delicious and the experience was a very easy, five stars all the way around . the grounds are gorgeous and beautiful pictureisk vistas.

definitely make a reservation and visit this scenic winey! of course the wines are yummy, so were the complimentary snacks. the staff were all friendly and welcoming - fun chatting and no pressure at all about joining the wine club. it wasn't busy the day of our visit so they didn't enforce the time limit when our time was obviously up. you really could spend the whole day there!

Visited several wineries on our trip and this one by far had the best personalized and dedicated service, information/education and amazing personalities that made our experience over the top! (Thanks Antone!!) The views were spectacular and the wines were amazing. Highly recommend and can't wait to go back!

Service 5/5 Wines 5/5 Ambiance 5/5 Wow! Our tasting experience at Joseph Phelps was memorable and phenomenal. Michael led our private tasting and was like a human encyclopedia. He was extremely knowledgeable about the Joseph Phelps wines and the evolution of wine globally as well. Would highly recommend scheduling an experience here and personally cannot wait to return!

Very kind staff here. Got a private room to work out of while the party tasted delicious wines. Beautiful venue with one of the best views of Napa.

Our experience at Joseph Phelps winery really showed me the world of architecture and fine wine. The property was beautiful, with a view clear down the Saint Helena Hills. We had an exclusive educational fun experience on wines and the art of production which was a finished work on this year's harvest. Our host Meredith was gracious and educational and so nice! I highly recommend Meredith to guide through the best of Joseph Phelps has to offer. Living in Napa is beautiful but finding hidden gems like Joseph Phelps and their red and ice wines was a great discovery. Come and see it for yourself what it's all about. You won't be disappointed!

Came to Joseph Phelps today on a complimentary tasting gifted by a friend and had the best time. Jordan, our sommelier was super kind and nice. He showed us to our area and poured all our wines. I enjoyed that he came to check on us frequently and took the time to memorize our names and talk to us. I ended up taking home a bottle of the 2021 Pinot Noir and 2019 dessert wine. I'm not a super "dry" wine girl so these plus the Chardonnay were my favorite of the tastings. Joseph Phelps is a beautiful winery with a stunning property and super kind staff. Do note that they allot about 90min for each party.

While working in St. Helena, I could never find an opening in a reservation, so here was a great opportunity now that all of us are retired. Our friends live in Clear Lake while we live in Vallejo, so this is a central place to meet. It was the best decision I made because every year for the past several anniversaries, we've gone to Cache Creek to C2. Their food and service is excellent because my husband enjoys poker, but I thought a change of scenery would be nice. And it was! Firstly, it was very kind of the staff to present us with a greeting card signed by everyone -- how sweet and thoughtful! We will cherish that! Secondly, we were very impressed with how the food/wine was locally sourced. It was incredible to hear the story about Custom, the Bull, and taste the difference between the Highland beef compared to Angus. Our waitress was "Erica S." She was engaging, personable, and very informative. My husband and I would definitely like to return to return to experience the dinner menu! We and our guests had the following dishes: Artichoke appetizer Arbororio Biscuits & Gravy Two Cheeseburgers Three Bloody Mary's Farmstead Margarita When they found out it was our anniversary celebration, the house sent over four glasses of complimentary champagne and a dish of dessert -- again, very sweet and kind of them I now understand why so many crowds flock to this restaurant! It's well worth the wait! If you have not experienced a meal there, you must definitely go now!

From the beginning, there seemed to be constant miscommunication between staff. We specifically booked an outdoor reservation and were seated inside instead. While mistakes happen, it set the tone for the rest of the evening. The bigger issue involved the wine and corkage fee. We purchased a bottle directly from the market associated with the restaurant and were told by the employee there that the corkage fee would be waived if we bought their wine. When we sat down, our server Sara told us that was not true and that we would still have to pay the fee. I explained what we had been told, and when she asked if I wanted a manager involved, I said yes. Before the manager even arrived or clarified the situation, the server opened our bottle of wine. In the silence and confusion, I reasonably assumed the fee issue had been resolved. Then the manager came over and told us we would still be charged and implied that nobody at the market would have told us otherwise. The way it was handled made my husband and I feel like we were being accused of making the whole thing up, which was especially upsetting on Mother's Day. At that point, the bottle was already opened, so we were essentially stuck paying the fee regardless. Between being seated incorrectly, the poor communication between employees, and how dismissive the situation felt, the service completely overshadowed what should have been a special meal. The rest of the service we felt ignored and there was minimal effort to accommodate. Great food alone is not enough to justify returning when the hospitality experience feels this frustrating and unprofessional.

Thank you again for such a memorable visit--we truly enjoyed our time and look forward to returning.
