Love this place. Close to me as I live in Helotes. They have a Bike Night every Thursday so if you don't like a motorcycle crowd plan accordingly. They treat me great, and I get a handshake from the owner every time. Every biker that comes in here is friendly and not the gang type you may be thinking of. It is a breath of fresh air after years of Wednesday Bike nights at Hills and Dales. Fresh smoked brisket Tacos every Thursday night! Love it! Edit/////so they tell me bike night is now dead here. Nice place, however lots on uneven ground both parking lot and table area. Went for an outside concert, was very nice til people around us started smoking cigarettes and cigars just as we started eating. Would not go again as long as they allow smoking. No wind didn't help. read more

My take on Josabi's outdoor event center in Helotes. I had really been looking forward to a concert they had tonight after a good experience at another one there a couple of months ago. However, the only downside was that they don't have enough seating for their events. So tonight, rather than worrying about it, my wife and I took our own folding chairs for the concert. But to our surprise when we arrived, I was first met by a cop who told me no chairs were allowed. Then someone brought Josabi himself to talk to us. I asked him why if they didn't have enough chairs at this outdoor event what the problem was with bringing our own. This is an outdoor event with people spread out. His response, although professional in his demeanor, was "We don't want people cluttering up the space." I thought what?!? You don't want your customers cluttering up the customer space when you don't have enough chairs? We were not attempting to bring in beer, weapons, drugs, but folding chairs! In an outdoor venue! He reminded us that we could take chairs from his outside dining room over to the concert area if we wished. So, we can clutter up his space with his chairs, we just can't do it with our comfortable folding chairs. Brilliant. If this seems petty to you, I'm reminded that it's the small things, the details, that make the difference between a good and an excellent business. Josabi is not concerned about the comfort of his customers even when they bring their own, not a small thing. So, Josabi needn't worry, my wife and I will no longer be cluttering up his space. read more

Great venue. We had our company Christmas Party at the location. The atmosphere is rustic without being too far out of town. There is plenty of parking and, after we had EquipmentShare set up temporary heat, the venue was comfortable despite the 40° temps. The main room had plenty of space for around 100 of us for a casino night and buffet service. The actual local bar attached to the room we rented added considerable value to the experience as well. read more

I'm really surprised at the reviews on Josabi's. I've been a few times and it's always been great! I love the venue. It's kind of a drive from where I live but worth it. They book so many different types of bands, but I've mostly been here for country shows (you're shocked, I know) and I always have a ball. The crowd is usually pretty chill. Just want to have a beer and hear a song and maybe dance a bit. The staff is fast and friendly, which is always a plus in a venue that holds so many people! We had our wedding here almost three years ago when they were first starting out in the venue business. Great people to work with. John and Robin definitely helped us a great deal with everything we could ask for. They are very easy going and great to work with. The location is great! Not too far from San Antonio or the hill country. After our wedding, many of our friends and family have used the venue for parties or weddings. read more

I had been out to Josabi's once awhile back and I think I was already too buzzed to determine if the place was worth a repeat visit. Well, the Spazmatics decided to book a show out there on July 27th, 2012, and as I really enjoy them, I figured I'd check it out. I had a softball game at 8:30, during which I sprained my knee and had to go home to pre-medicate for the night (bourbon and naproxen), so I didn't arrive at Josabi's until the start of the second set, which was about 10:30. The cover was $20 and no credit cards or Russian rubles were accepted. Good thing my friend had lots of American dollars. We went up to one of the outside "bars" (read as plywood stacked on cinder blocks, with some beer ads hung on the front for class) and ordered bourbon and cokes. Upon delivery of the drinks, guess what? Sorry, cash only. WTF? I look at my friend...he looks back...I look at him longer...he pulls out more cash and pays. $12 later and holding 8oz plastic cups in hand, we surmise that we've been had. Screw it, right? We're here and the 'Matics are playin'. Flash forward an hour --- There are seven in my group now. All of us are wondering why we drove to eastern New Mexico to see a fun band from 150 yards away when we're used to being second row and drinking serious beverages without wondering if we have enough cash to get another. I'm now in pain, both from my right leg, which has been supporting 90% of my weight all night due to my left knee injury, and financially, as I am essentially tapped out (I brought $15 and two credit cards.) I apologize to my peeps and leave before the show ends, head hung low and "walking" like a zombie. I drive a standard, so getting home was interesting (try using a clutch with your right foot.) In the past, when I saw the Spazmatics at Bluebonnet Palace, I had a great time. The Palace has three outdoor bars at far corners that not only take credit cards, they network the tab to ALL bars in the establishment. Genius! There are plenty of tables to relax and room to circulate around the central stage. Bottom line is, don't go to Josabi's. Give them a chance to get their act together, if ever, and pay attention to other posts on Yelp that mention overcharging and weird rules, etc. We did not have fun, which is hard to do on a night with the 'Matics. I suggest that the owners go to a few events at Bluebonnet Palace. Oh, the inside bathroom was relatively clean. read more

Love Josabi's Food Truck Friday! Family friendly & so much fun. Basketball, corn hole, darts, billards, arcade, open space for the kids to play. Plenty of picnic tables in the shade. They have different food trucks & live music every Friday. We are a family with 9 & 7 year old boys. Will definitely go back! read more

Went and saw Skyrocket there last Friday - Aug. 26th and had a blast! Really liked the venue - drinks were reasonably priced. There was probably 35 or so in my crowd and we had a great time. Of course, there were more than just us there, but I didn't feel it was over-crowded. Hoping that SKYROCKET will choose to have it there again!!!! Thank you Josabis!!!! I have been to two concerts at Josabis. I saw Ghostland Observatory there about 2 years ago and it was awesome! The place was packed and the outdoor environment allowed for a sweat-free mosh pit. I went again this summer to see another Concert (I won the tickets and do not remember the band's name, but they were pretty popular and play on the radio). The place was almost empty and nobody was dancing or even standing up. I ended up leaving before the concert ended. I guess it just depends on how well the concert is advertised as to how your night here will go. The atmosphere is very pretty though and there is no problem with traffic. read more

Unfortunately we didn't see much of the show we came for because when we got there at 9:30 the show was basically over. Usually I get to a venue when the doors open so I can be in first three rows but this show I was more laid back on so we decided to go for drinks somewhere else first. Reason being that I didn't want to get there & have to wait a few hours after reading all the poor reviews & found some other places I wanted to check out in the area. I figured doors open at 6 so the opening act would start at 8:30ish & main act 9:30/10ish. I called a few times to confirm this but no one ever answered so I just went with my thought. Well I was wrong. Like I said the show was pretty much over by the time we got there with only 4-5 songs left. I've never been to a show where the main act was started by this time let alone finished. I'm thinking it's maybe because there is a noise ordinance or maybe the people of Helotes just like to get to bed early. It was a Monday night so maybe that had something to do with it too. I guess I'm used to shows at indoor venues in Chicago & Milwaukee that start much later no matter what night of the week & thus I screwed up the timing. I definitely learned my lesson that when going to outdoor shows or at unfamiliar venues out of my home turf to show up within an hour of doors open time. I can't comment very well on the venue because we weren't there very long. We were stuck in the way back & had plenty of room around us. The crowd seemed packed further up. The view wasn't bad way in back but I couldn't get a decent picture on my phone from there. The sound was fine & I could understand what the band was saying when they were speaking to the crowd which a lot of the times isn't the case because of sound issues. Parking was in a grass lot in front of the bar but since we got there late they waved us further down the highway to a gravel lot. The parking was 10$. There was no light so we had to walk in the dark along the edge of the highway which kinda sucked. I wished I brought my flashlight that was in the car with me. It was easy to get out of this small lot after the show & I'm sure easier than the main lot. I think I would go back & check this venue out if I lived in the area but I would definitely get there much earlier next time. read more

Had a great time. The sound was a little "muffled" the closer we were to the stage, and sounded better the further we went away from it... but this may be the sound technician.. or maybe its the acoustics. But the outdoor area is nice..there are picnic tables to sit and three (?) bars... one outside that only served beer, one inside and then to the right of that another indoor bar. My only complaint is the prices. $3.50 for a water? I bought one beer, one mixed drink and two waters and it cost 17 bucks! Thats outrageous. And I have never seen people form a line at a bar. Usually when there is empty bar space people fill it in and the bartender takes the order of the first person there.... but people seemed to have no problem waiting in line. It was a long wait, they probably could have used two more bartenders just in the one bar. I would suggest too that they consider a shooter girl or something. All of those thirsty people in line would surely buy a shot while they are waiting to be served... not to mention all of the people outside. The bathroom was an oven... absolutely no ventilation at all. But they were fairly well tended to. Plus you can leave and re-enter, so if you are claustrophobic you can escape to a secluded area in the parking lot behind a car to pee ;) teee heee... Ok, ok... seriously, this place was cool. But its too pricy for my budget so it will be a while before I can return. read more

We recently had our daughter's graduation party at Josabi's! The location was convenient and the venue was absolutely perfect! The venue is already beautifully decorated with lights, whiskey barrels, barn door and stained pallets - all you need are your finishing touches! The outdoor area was perfect for both the big and little kids!! The owner John was so helpful throughout the entire evening and gave us peace of mind that we could just kick back and enjoy ourselves! I have been here several times...to play darts...play cards on their outdoor patio....enjoy the sunshine...all with cold beer and friendly/great service! Could this place get any better?!? Yep! They had Blue October there last night...and it was awesome! This venue and it's size was perfect for a more intimate show with a spectacular band! After reading the few reviews here before going to my concert (I had already bought tickets and drove to San Antonio from Dallas), I was a little bit worried. But I really can't complain about the venue at all. First off, it is an outdoor venue. Be prepared to pay $20 to park inside the gates, or $10-$15 to park next door on a neighbor's land. The sound was actually really good! I saw Blue October, who can be hard to understand in concert. But I could understand everything they said. Drinks were reasonable ($4 for a can of beer or a gin and tonic), parking was pretty close, lines for drinks were quite short. I never went to the restroom, although my friend said he was not impressed. The reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is because the one inside bar was incredibly hot and I cannot imagine how hot it would be during a summer concert. $20 for parking really is quite ridiculous, when, like another reviewer mentioned, it's not like you can take the bus or park somewhere else. If I had paid less for parking, I would have spent more on drinks, so it's not like you're making that much more money. Finally, the ground is incredible uneven and very rocky. This really isn't a big deal except that it's hard to get comfortable when you're standing there for several hours on end. Other reviewers mentioned that they had to return to their cars because they were not allowed to bring in a camera. I did not take a camera for this reason. However, they did not seem to stop people from taking cameras in, because probably half the people there had cameras. I really do wish they would have stopped people from bringing in their cameras, because it's really hard to get into the show with people holding their cameras up and recording every other song. Overall, I really enjoyed the show and the venue. I would recommend it. I think this place is still new, and maybe the owners are still trying to figure things out. read more

Great place to go for a concert or a beer on an average day. Chill environment with pool tables and dart boards. Casey is the best in town.

I went to see Interpol last night, and this place seemed to charge for almost everything they can think of. First of all, they charged twenty dollars for parking. The guy I paid was alright and gave it to me for ten. Either way it was the worst parking off the side of the access road in front of someone's house. I've never even heard of a venue that charges for parking. To top it all off this place is in the middle of nowhere so you'd have to drive out there and park your car somewhere. No one is going to ride their bike or take a bus out there. When I got to the front of the line security checked my bag and sent me all the way back to my car because I had a camera in my purse. It was dead, and even when I offered to show him it was dead he insisted I go back. He was also very rude about it. When I got inside the ticket taker informed me that I had to pay an extra five dollars because I am not twenty one. The lady who I bought my ticket from did not let me know this before I bought my ticket. I spent thirty-five on my ticket, ten on parking, ten on gas to go all the way out to this place in the middle of nowhere, and five on a stupid service charge. That comes out to a total of sixty dollars on one show versus the thirty dollars I'd most likely end up spending at a place like the White Rabbit. Interpol was awesome, and I'm so glad they put on a good show if not I would've been beyond disappointed. read more
