Ceviche.

Located inside a tiny convenience store in a random, out-of-the-way spot, it would be easy to miss the hidden, magical gem that is Jorge's Kitchen. You might find yourself stopping by for a bottle of Coke or a bag o' Doritos and not even notice the tiny window in the back where the magic happens. That is, until you start smelling the scents of authentic, delicious Mexican food like tacos, burritos, ceviche, and some of the best salsa I've had in awhile. And if tasty eats aren't a good enough reason to visit, they also have several local craft beers on tap to enjoy with your lunch. Seating is available indoors or out, although many seem to grab their grub to go. On my most recent visit I tried their ceviche and, while simple in ingredients, it hit the mark on taste and freshness. The portion was deceptively large - I thought it wasn't much but could barely finish it. Every time I'm near Jorge's (which, thankfully for my waistline, isn't too often) I find myself pulled their by a magical Mexican food tractor beam. You know, like the Death Star in Star Wars. But in a good way, of course.

Pork taco on Nearly empty plate.

This place was recommended to me by a galley worker on the san juan ferry. Was heading home to seattle so gave it a try. Its a nondescript country gas station. In the front is a massive selection of cigarettes and baggies of synthetic marijuana, bags of chips, cookies and soda. Eyes drift left theres a 3 stool bar with taps showing a good selection of local beers. Further left youre looking at the back wall, a back lit menu and food specials on a white board and a tiny window where you order food. I got two beef, two pork tacos on a plate of rice and beans, and a pint of elysian stardust. Beer was good and fresh. Food was great after dousing from the ketchup bottle of green salsa. Was $12 for 3 tacos on rice and beans, 2.75 for extra taco, $4 for beer. Perfect, no complaints. Had a nice 60 minute conversation with another customer. Ill definitely return. Sorry about the food picture, i forgot until plate was nearly empty. Super good. I want to try the super natchos.

Chimichanga!

Great food and service! You would not expect such a great place in a small gas station, but highly recommend you give them a try!

Pork tacos!

Was on a road trip when we stopped for snacks but found ourselves in a restaurant! Very nice staff, tons of bevs, good beers, great food.

Worst chimichanga I've ever had. Was really hoping for a better product as well the online menu is not accurate with the price. I paid 14.65 for a sour chimichanga.. online stated 8 something. Idk why this place is number one on Yelp, plenty better spots then this.

I've been going here for five years. I was SO good originally. Lately, we go there on a rare occasion just to see if things have improved. It's been hit and miss the past few times and tonight was particularly disappointing.. Meat quality varies and at this point I think the only thing good about them is that they are close to home and open later than others. They even USED to be one of the good places that would give you all the extras like the grilled jalapeño and grilled onions that are sooo delicious. I asked for extra salsa tonight and found out they now charge $.50 for a tiny salsa.... Of which they were all less than half full! I'd be so embarrassed to serve this food and charge extra for half empty salsas... very disappointing.

This is the best Mexican in the area! I like to think of her as my neighborhood Abuela who makes the best steak tacos!

The patio faces one of the main streets so there was lots of good people watching. I ordered a beer flight and was very satisfied with all four of my selections: Prickly Pear Kolsch - it was creamy and easy to drink, bursting with prickly pear flavor; just the right amount of tart and sweet. Lightly Buzzed Honey Lavender Blonde - my favorite of the flight; it was very hoppy but light and refreshing and well balanced by intense lavender flavor and a smooth honey finish. Get it! You won't regret it. High Five Hefe - lighter/less hazy and more hoppy than most hefes it made for a unique and complimentary beer on my flight. Pommeroys Citra Pale Ale - a perfect West Coast IPA. To eat, my pup got the Lucky Dog hamburger (which the chef pre-cut) and loved it! He chowed down in less than a minute. And I got the Mac & Cheese Burger (sub a veggie patty) with the Garlic Fries. It was a very indulgent meal to say the least. The burger was loaded with so much Mac & Cheese that I couldn't even put the top bun on it and pick it up. lol I had to knife and fork the whole thing which was totally worth it. The Mac is a classic home style recipe (think Stouffers but better). Their fries are shoestring and super crispy and salty. And they loaded those up with an amazing garlic aioli and Parmesan. I got a side of their house-made curry aioli and was obsessed with it. Every fry that didn't have sauce or parm got a dip in that deliciousness and I added it to quite a few of the burger bites too. All in all, a great brewpub that I look forward to returning to in the future!

Not just a brewery, women-owned TH is also a taphouse featuring an assortment of tasty local and regional beers, wines, seltzers, and ciders. You'll find anything from their own house-brewed beers to local favorite breweries from around Washington State. I like going here with The Dude, because they've always got at least a couple of good IPAs on tap for him, as well as more mild choices for those of us who aren't as into over-the-top hoppiness. What sets Temperate Habits apart, though, is their excellent menu. From quirky options (like their famous mac 'n cheese burger) to more traditional offerings (like my favorite, the caesar salad with salmon), there's something here to fit most tastes, and most budgets. We love going here for lunch, grabbing a couple of pints, and splitting one of their tasty cheeseburgers. I'm also a fan of their appetizer brussel sprouts, made (of course) with Skagit Valley's finest. They do have an outdoor patio, which is a good place for people watching (but can get kind of loud as it's right on the street). Going solo? There's almost always a spot at their friendly bar!

Case in point: I like dark beers, especially in cooler weather. They had a porter, which tasted tangy but not quite like a sour, and a stout, which mysteriously tasted very like an English porter, but too light a body for a stout, certainly no creamy head to speak of, and again that sour note. Whatevs. The drink menu is mostly chock-a-block with IPAs, blondes and lagers - ambers and darks are perhaps just not in their wheelhouse. We also came because they supposedly have a pool table here. And they do - tucked away in a dimly lit corner upstairs. We had to ask the waitress to turn on the lights for us, but only a mostly-burned out string of Costco tivoli lights served to illuminate the space. It was very hard to see the balls, or our food. Food? We had a flatbread pizza and Brussels. They were ok. They're probably better at sandwiches...again, we hit 'em where they ain't... So, the "up and down" bit: If you want to sit upstairs, fine, but you must order downstairs. Want to use a restroom? Downstairs. All done and ready to close tab? Downstairs. The bartender (running the place solo, apparently) was gracious and accommodating in bringing us food and refills upstairs, though, and we tipped accordingly. Good service. Not our particular cup of tea, perhaps, but give 'em a shot if you like IPAs and lagers, and don't care a whiff about pool or pizza. You might like it!

They're located close to the Burlington airport; look for the wooden chair with a "beer here" sign. We dropped in on a Friday afternoon (around 1:30pm). They've got a cute patio outside along with two communal style tables and bar seats inside. Service is friendly and knowledgeable. Go up to the bar to order your drinks. The beers consisted of 9 Garden Path flavours, two meads and several guest beers/ciders/wines. They don't do flights, which is disappointing and none of their fruit flavoured beers were available to sample. They have a MASSIVE variety of rare, unique beers along with some interesting cider and wines. Beer bottles from Jester King, Atwood Ales, The Ale Apothecary and Crooked Stave, to name a few. From Canada, they even had two bottles from Dieu du Ciel. Majority are from the States but they had some beers from Australia, Estonia and Europe (Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, France and Italy). They also have a couple board games and funny enough, they had these mystery/surprise beer bags for sale. Not sure how much they were though. - The easygoing drink ($3.00 US for 5oz) - lightly tart ale fermented in a foudre and finished in stainless steel. This was our favourite from the three we sampled. - Amber dreams of electric sheep ($3.00 US for 5oz) - foudre-fermented, oak matured, malt-accented and native yeast amber ale. Definitely was malty. - The prime barrel age ($3.50 US for 5oz) - blend of mature barrel-aged beers. This one didn't leave much of an impression on either one of us. Garden Path's beers are different, catering more to funky than sour. If you're a beer geek, this should be a must visit. 3.5 stars.

I noticed a bunch of slates with beer names and spotted a cider from Terramar advertising a Strawberry Rhubarb cider and decided I wanted to try that flavor combination. The cheese curds were nicely battered and fried and the housemade ranch was a nice accompaniment to the cheese curds. The spicy crispy chicken sandwich was only crispy on the outside where the batter was applied! The rest of the chicken was tender and juicy. So tasty . I didn't think the sandwich was all that spicy, but that would be my fault because I eat jalapeno like candy and routinely use habanero hot sauce on my food. Even though I didn't think it was all that spicy I did enjoy the flavor and crunch of the sandwich. There was a bunch of steak fries served with my sandwich. Excellent fries, but way too many for me to eat them all. I think I probably ate only 1/4 of them!! Although not quite enough aioli, as we ran out about half way through the calamari and had to order more. (Tbh I was kinda surprised when I saw they had charged us for the "extra" aioli.) The hot artichoke dip was good, too, though the portion was pretty small for the price. I'd come back again, but maybe during happy hour as it might be a better value.
