    Carnitas Tacos
    Melissa U.

This place is located inside the Skagit Casino. They really load you up on meat and toppings! I ordered tacos from here a year ago, which were much smaller. They are super generous now! I ordered two meals: carnitas tacos and birria tacos. There was enough food for three of us to eat! The flavor is average. They also serve margaritas, which were very sweet and not strong at all. You have to order extra shots to add to the margaritas to make it better.

I'm from the Central Valley of California where we have the best taco trucks and Mexican food north of the border. I would even argue better than south of the border. I purchased a 3 pack street taco plate "chicken" and I think it was the best I've ever had. I had a long day of traveling but man that chicken was clean and cooked perfect. The spices were bomb and the orange sauce mixed with green along with cilantro and onions just made it sooo good. I don't usually give a lot of reviews and I mess with my friends from up north saying their Mexican food ain't as good as ours but I was humbled tonight

Excellent street tacos loaded with meat, limes, and salsa. Would definitely recommend! We ordered takeout as we were staying at the hotel.

Being treated to Chuckanut Manor is starting to be a tradition for me. This is my second time to…read morethis wonderful place. The first was my birthday last year, chosen by a friend (I'd never heard of it). This year I was asked where I wanted to go. I did not hesitate to say here! I couldn't be anything other than delighted in my decision--from the pleasantness inside, the wonderful view from our window, the delightful staff and the incredible food and drinks, this place is wonderful. Lucky me that my birthday was on a Wednesday so I could be totally influenced to have oysters-on-the-half shell due to a generous Wednesday night special. I do love raw oysters--and these were so tiny and briny and so incredibly good, I could have eaten five dozen! (I am kicking myself for not finding out what kind they were, but no matter. I would be happy with any they are serving here, I am sure.) I had already planned on having the Oysters Rockefeller (known here as Manor Rockefeller), and so, despite having just downed some oysters, I went ahead anyway and am glad I did! They were wonderful. And there was no real reason for me to pause for a moment in my decision, having already had oysters, because these were soooooo different. It was almost like eating a delicious oyster casserole in a shell. The Mediterranean Mussels were wonderful! (Notice, I was having a dinner of appetizers...) The broth they came in was beautiful (and drinkable, if one were so inclined). I loved the surprising tastiness of the Mama Lil's Peppers swimming around in it. At first I wondered if they would be too hot and compete with the flavor--overwhelming it--but no! Not at all. They were a perfect and flavorful touch. Absolutely wonderful. (And having said that, I know that "pepper heat" is an individual thing--I can tolerate a goodly amount, fyi--I just didn't taste these as hot at all.) Our server, Drew, was immensely helpful (and always charming!) He paired our food with a delicious wine. I guess we would assign my bowl of clam chowder to the dessert category--very thick and creamy--along with a lovely after-dinner cocktail, made by the wonderful and delightful bartender, Sherry. She made me a lovely mocktail to start--I asked Drew to have the bartender just make something up on a whim. It was pretty, colorful and delish with what in it, I have no idea. But, not only was it delectable, it was a vision! All festive and fuchsia, with a "bartender's cherry," and a hot pink umbrella. When I learned Sherry made it, I was so happy because I remembered her from last year--very skilled and very fun to chat with. A wonderful birthday--I highly recommend the Manor.

Ordering at the counter was easy, and we chose a seat outside on the deck. I think they were a little short staffed, so I'm not sure if that is a normal wait time. But, 100% worth it! There is a lot of outdoor seating in a yard/garden which is perfect for families and pets in the summer. They bring out your entrees, but everything else is self bussed. You prepay for everything including tip when you order. They only accept cash, check, or Venmo. I came here with a group of 4 and ordered 4 entrees along with some baked foods and coffee. THE WAIT..... It took over 1 hour for us to get our food. I would take off at least part of a point for that. I'm not sure if we were forgotten but didn't hear from the kitchen at all during this time (or after) and I had to ask about our order myself. People behind me in line had gotten their food long before. Thankfully we weren't in a hurry that day but that is a pretty long wait in my opinion for brunch. Be aware that the line to order can be long and the wait to get your food can be long.

The entrance is delightfully well-done, and our faces lit up when we walked into the bar - intricately detailed and authentic enough that a '20s dress code could be reasonably enforced. We were seated immediately, and the cadence of service was immaculate: our appetizer came out just after our drinks, and the entrees appeared as we were taking the last bites of the appetizer. But I wasn't thrilled with my selections. The Rum Punch was served at room temperature and the jalapeño popper chicken sandwich was drier than the description suggested. My partner got the Jalisco Fizz, which she says paired well with the mushroom pasta, and really enjoyed the salmon deviled eggs. At $11-14, the drinks are priced well, but the food is overpriced. The jalapeño chicken sandwich was not a $23 sandwich, and a tempting lobster/shrimp roll was listed at $35. Overall Speakeasy Saloon is worth making an evening of. Dress up and sip on whiskey drinks in the low light with loved ones.
