After a short meeting in Brentwood my friend and I came here for dinner. I had it saved in my bookmarks for a while now and finally got to try. Tuesday evening not too busy so we were seated right away. A very friendly hostess who was our waitress also. She went over the menu with us briefly so we have an idea what kind of food they serve. We orders the potatoes cooked in tallow, chipotle corn and the filet mignon lomo saltado. All so flavorful and delicious. We both enjoyed our meal very much. The cocktails looked so good so I'll have to come back and try one. A beautiful and delicious restaurant that will be added to my favorites. Nice ambiance, amazing customer service.

I have had Jonah's bookmarked for some time, so when someone let me choose a dinner restaurant on the west side, I knew where to go. & Jonah's did not disappoint! The ambiance is vibey with moody lighting and boho accents throughout. The highlight was the octopus, but the chicken was delicious as well. Our server, Kayla, was the bomb! Super nice and attentive without feeling overbearing. I will be back! Parking can be tough since it's on Wilshire, not sure if they have valet or a designated lot since I got lucky and found a metered spot. Definitely take that into account when making a res!

One of the best dinners I've had in a long time! We were a group of 4 and ordered the platter to sample a large amount. Our waitress recommended adding the chicken & we also added the shrimp. The k-town chicken was absolutely incredible! The char and the sauce were absolutely perfect. It was the star of the night and we were all shocked- chicken isn't usually the best thing. The platter was delicious and came with a variety of sauces that were all so fresh. The shrimp were almost like mini lobsters, they were delicious. We tried some of their specialty drinks and they were all amazing! We were too stuffed for dessert but definitely will need to try next time.

Very good tacos and good portion for the price. I had the brisket tacos with rice and beans and it was very good! One of my new favorites places in the neighborhood.

Came for happy hour, stayed for this massive plate of delicious meat. This plate would be a vegan person's nightmare, but if you like meat, it was fantastic. They have great dipping sauces too! This spot is great. They make good cocktails. The bartenders are friendly. The bar is pretty small, so be warned, you might have to wait. They have a great outdoor spot that they can cover when it rains. The vibe here is awesome. Def going to be a new happy hour spot.

This place is a whole vibe- a hidden gem on the westside and on the outskirts of Santa Monica. The cool thing is it isn't in the thick of chaos but is definitely in the mix (location wise). If you're looking for a chic date night not too pricey to break the bank- try this place out. If you want high quality food with sensational flavor check this place out! Back in the days (COVID) it was order at the counter (maybe not a popular opinion but I personally liked it- especially with large groups). But now it's dine in, hosted seated type of vibe. Jonah and his people definitely do their thing here!

LOMO SALTADO, FARMERS MARKET VEGGIES, Rice and Beans, ARGENTINE PARILLA RIBS, Spanish Octupus

Cozy, intimate setting. Friendly, warm, and quick service. Scrumptious, divine food. Jonah's Kitchen + Bar is very well deserving of 5 stars. Everything that we tried was phenomenal. If I had to pick two favorites, they'd be the Spanish Octopus and the Lomo Saltado. The octopus was spiced to perfection and so succulent. The fillet was tender, juicy and sauced perfectly. Everything else was authentic and delicious. This spot is unassumingly located on 26th and Wilshire. Easy to miss. But you should make an effort to get here for your next dinner out. You won't be sorry that you did!

This is a cool spot with a good menu. They don't take reservations - we came on a Friday night around 7 and waited only about 10 mins at the bar. We were seated right next to the bar but I would love to sit in the main room next time as the decor is beautiful! Our server Stephanie was so sweet and helpful! We ordered the truffle tacos to start and they were really good. I got the wagu burger and it was cooked perfectly and the potatoes on the side were delicious! It is pretty loud inside but I loved the vibe and will definitely be back.

I've been here about 6 times now and I still feel so unsure about it. Some visits are fantastic and others not so much. I was originally invited here for a friend's birthday and their seating/dining setup has always been so chaotic. Originally they had QR codes and you could order your own meals and checkout via your phone, which was sooo nice. The very next visit about 2 weeks later, that was gone. When you walk in there is rarely someone to clearly let you know how seating and ordering work, especially after it's changed again. That would be very helpful. Also, seating can be extremely tight! Depending how they setup, you may literally need to walk around the entire front room just to go to the bathroom, when there would normally be a clear pathway. Kind of frustrating. For the food, I originally fell in love with their mussels and crispy potatoes - but the last 2 visits they've been luke warm or cool. For anyone who loves seafood, you know that's . Their flavors are amazing, so we keep trying! (Granted, one night the owner was kind enough to send us over a fresh order that was hot. It was appreciated.) The servers have generally been pleasant and helpful. Amin, their manager is probably a saving grace for this restaurant. He's SO personable, remembers guests when they come back, and is knowledgeable regarding the menu. We do wish the owner was just as personable, but if anyone in the restaurant is more "popular", he won't bother greeting you or seeing what you need. (He's usually always walking around the restaurant.) Overall, seating is tight, the food is okay, but the drinks are great. Note: there's metered parking all around the block.

Five. Stars for the food four stars for the service, unfortunately. I really would've like to give him five stars but when you're paying a premium price for tacos and margaritas, you expect to at least get water when you sit down and not at the end of the meal and be acknowledged within at least 10 minutes of being seated. On top of that the hostess had an attitude that left much to be desired. Almost as if she was doing us a favor by seating us now onto the food. Being of Mexican decent with a 'mama' who made exceptional, Mexican and American food, I am always very critical of tacos, chips, salsa, and guacamole. I'm very very pleased to say they do all of these really really well. Brisket Taco Cochinita Pibil Taco Shrimp Acapulco Tomato salad The brisket is so flavorful and tender, the pork is also delicious and tender. The brisket taco was a surprise in that it has a crunchy shell, which is my absolute favorite, crunchy tacos. The shrimp Acapulco (basically a shrimp cocktail, Mexican style) was delicious. I wanted to drink the 'agua' that the tender shrimp and just ripe avocado and onion it was floating in. The small tostada chips tasted, homemade, and the green I'm guessing avocado salsa on the table was very tasty and not too spicy that you couldn't eat a lot of it Who knew a tomato salad could be so good. Very nice portion of a beautiful and perfectly ripe tomato. On top of a tostada chip was a nice starter. The Paloma cocktail was just as it was described on the menu. The place is small and not great for large groups, but perfect for 2 to 4 people. I recommend going to the back and sitting under a heat lamp. If it's chilly outside the back seating area is very well decorated. You feel as if you've been transported to an entirely different country. It really makes the eating experience That much better. Although the service was not great, Stephanie, our server was very pleasant, but with just one person taking orders, I'm sure that impacted her ability to be able to attend to our table in a timely manner. I will be coming back here. I'm always willing to give a place that has really good food another chance to redeem themselves when it's the service that is not five stars. Good job Chef Jonah!

One star for tiki bar, and one star for the entertaining amusement of watching washed up celebrities chasing the young wannabe actors/actresses. Service was slow and apathetic, and the food was disappointing, and carelessly prepared. With regards to the Asado Platter, the spare ribs were tough and dried out, the steak was chewy and bland, the short ribs were smothered in salt and basically fat and burnt meat, plus bell peppers were all burned. As for the K-Town Chicken, they basically burned the heck out of it, and I had to argue with the staff for 15 minutes as to why it was inedible, plus the kimchee was horrible, and the gochujang sauce was utterly lacking in flavor, overall this was an insult to K-Town. It should be a crime what their kitchen does to what they call food.

Thai Oysters so tasty and surprisingly refreshing

Lemme start by saying.. This is a true 5 star experience..! The fact that this is a 4 average proves that you can't trust reviews.. the ambiance was a 10, the oysters were a 10, the octopus was a 10, the tacos were a 10, the drinks were a 10, the dessert was a 9.5 haha If you're in your 20s, 30s, 40s or a hip older couple, this is the place for a date night for you on the west side! So lucky we happened to stumble across this place

Ask the Community - Jonah's Kitchen + Bar

Do you have outside dining for lunch and dinner? Do you check vaccine cards?

Is anywhere in the restaurant dog friendly? Or just those few tables on the sidewalk next to the street on Wilshire?

As long as it's outside.

Do you take reservations?

Hi Trevor! At this time we are first come first serve! Our lunch service is from 12-4p, our dinner service is from 5-10p and our bar service goes from 5-12a. Thank you so much for your interest in Jonahs and we look forward to seeing you soon!

Is there a happy hour?

The website posts HH from 4:30-6:30. We were there on Friday at 6:00pm and they would not honor HH prices even though it clearly states on web site. That's not right.

Hi, Do you have gluten free options?

Hi Audrey, yes we do have some veggie dishes and wood fire grilled options that are gluten free!

I was actually really shocked at how much my children loved the restaurant. It's not marketed as a family restaurant, but my children loved the atmosphere. We had to go all around the restaurant and look at everything. On top of that, even though they didn't have a children's menu, we ordered family style, and my daughter, a six-year-old, loved the chicken Parmesan, which she had never had before. My son said it was the best burger he ever had, he is four years old and he really is a little burger connoisseur. I had the breaded halibut and the loaded baked potato, which was really yummy too. Our waitress was really wonderful and attentive, and she could really pour her wine like the fine dining experience requires. Overall, it was just a really fun and wonderful learning experience. I also loved the history provided by the owner and the Lord behind this beautiful place. Definitely a cool stop that I never knew about in Santa Monica after all these years.

We checked in for our reservation at Scopa, and a manager came over to escort us to the bar through a locked door. He took our phones and gave us each a playing card to identify them for retrieval later. It was very dark inside, and at 6 pm, we were the first guests there. We were escorted to the bar where we sat down and were greeted by Oscar, our bartender. They have an extensive menu of interesting and rare spirits and champagne, which you can order with caviar. There's also about 20 cocktails for $25 each. Boyfriend wanted bourbon, and Oscar gave him a variety of 3 bourbons for a total of 2 ounces. These bourbons were very high proof, 90+ and cask strength. Definitely for sipping only. For a second round, Oscar suggested a bourbon we have never heard of: Elmer T. Lee! I ordered two cocktails: a Jungle drink with rum and pineapple, and a Singapore Sling, served in a gorgeous red paisley vintage glass, with an orchid flower and pink curlicue straw. Oscar introduced us to their collection of very cool tiki glasses. My favorite was the vintage elephant one, and it was my drinking buddy during our fun visit. Oscar is very knowledgeable and friendly and it was a delight chatting with him. His manager, Steve, has curated a great retro playlist of music, with tunes from the 60s and 70s (and probably earlier than that). I think I found one of his playlists on Spotify. As noted, the bar is small with 6 barstools at the bar, two couches and a table with chairs. Everything is mid-century modern, and you feel like you've been transported back in time. The staff kept track of time and coordinated with Scopa for our 7:30 pm dinner reservation, escorting us back to the restaurant and giving us back our phones. We had a wonderful time, and we will definitely be back. This is an expensive, high-end cocktail experience, perfect for special occasions or a luxe evening out.

Disappointing Service from Julie Overshadowed an Otherwise Great Experience…read more My husband and I visited to celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary tonight. While waiting for our table, we had a lovely conversation with the hostess and were really looking forward to the evening. We were seated with Julie as our server, and at first she was pleasant and helpful, offering menu suggestions. Unfortunately, once the hostess came by to check on us, everything changed. Julie became noticeably distant and only returned to take our order--coldly placing it and leaving again. We had to ask another server twice just to get water, received our first drinks but were never asked if we wanted another round, and were largely ignored for the remainder of the meal. What made this especially confusing was that Julie spent plenty of time chatting and engaging with her other tables, while not acknowledging us as she passed by. The food and drinks were excellent, and everyone else we encountered at the restaurant was wonderful. We had heard great things about this place and truly wanted to love it. However, the intentional dismissal from our server, Julie, was baffling and disappointing. As we were leaving, we overheard Julie tell the hostess to "never interfere with any of her tables," which suddenly made the evening make sense. We would have loved to make this a regular stop whenever we visit Santa Monica, but the risk of another experience like this gives us pause. I would recommend the food and atmosphere--but suggest requesting a server other than Julie.
