Dr.Klingborg is fantastic. Just had another visit with him yesterday. He mentioned he read a lady gave him a bad review because she didn't like that he felt her dog wasn't in the mood for its visit and was showing that it might bite. Apparently by this she felt he didn't have confidence in handling dogs. Hogwash and poppycock. Handling dogs is no task for him. I have 3 pitbulls and a carin terrier, he does fine. The largest of my dogs had a blood draw yesterday, she was scared to death. I asked how he knew she wouldn't bite (even tho I knew she wouldn't cuz shes my dog and I know her) and he explained he could read the difference between a dog that will bite out of fear and one that won't; hence how the discussion of the other persons review came up. I was pleased to learn he actually cares enough to read his reviews. I will say that not everything has been my favorite along the way: some tension over me not wanting to fix my dog (I hate tension and also don't want to be pressured to do things...also don't know why they were pushing so hard but whatever), & particular front desk staff that were not doing him any favors, to put it nicely. However, the first issue eventually subsided and during my visit yesterday it seems there have been some changes to the desk staff which is great. They were friendly and welcoming rather than acting like you're annoying them by existing. Even though it was busy the desk staff took time to visit or at least greet the waiting room dogs and owners, they checked in when there was a delay in back so that the customer (I) didn't feel forgotten about, they were very friendly. It's important, I think, to make the customer feel they are appreciated and "a piece of the pie" for lack of a better way to put it; no one likes to feel like just another dollar walking through the door, nor like it is a bother that they are even there at all. Yesterday was fantastic in that regard. Another of my dogs is a cardiac patient at UC Davis. At Davis, there are 2 cardiologist that approach my dog's care in very different ways, one is her actual doctor and the other isn't for a reason. Dr.Klingborg's approach to that same dog's care is like that of her actual cardiologist, which speaks volumes. I would recommend Dr.Klingborg to anyone. I don't know anything about the other doctors in Klingborg's practice. A few tips though: * if your dog needs the cone of shame, it would probably be wise to get it elsewhere, they're expensive here in my opinion * wouldn't recommend leaving your pet overnight as there is no overnight staff * if your dog isn't fixed you're gonna get an earful read more

My sister and I took our puppies to this vet years ago. He was fine with my puppy (she was a small breed and clearly not a chihuahua) but He traumatized my sister's puppy because a "2lbs chihuahua needs to be dominated". Mind you, she's the sweetest thing ever and has never bit or showed aggression to anyone. He threw her on her back and she peed and pooped all over. He was mad she got poop on him and left very mad. I don't understand why this man thinks it's okay to abuse and traumatize chihuahuas because he doesn't like them. She never once tried to bite him. She has sadly passed (lived a long beautiful life and never saw this dude again) but she never recovered from this. If you have a very clearly chihuahua dog, please consider a different vet. Took my cat in for an injury based on the positive reviews. I have to say, the doctor is excellent. He seemed to genuinely care and took his time explaining everything and seemed very knowledgeable. To be honest, he spent more time with us than the doctors I see for myself usually do. The price was pretty reasonable. $99 for the exam, an anti inflammatory and antibiotic shot, and ear drops. We were in and out in probably 30 minutes tops. It's also a very nice office and smells great in there. Most vet offices smell like old wet dog. Added bonus, he looks and sounds quite a bit like Stephen Colbert! As much as I hate to deduct a star, I have to for the somewhat questionable service I received when I called back to ask about their pet sitting service we wanted to use. For whatever reason, the lady on the phone was either unable or unwilling to give me a straight answer about whether or not they could take him with his current vaccination status. I've had about 7 vets so far during my lifetime and Dr. Klingborg is by far the best. He is patient, kind, humorous, intelligent, and so good with my two cats. I had a scare where my prior vet told me my cat Tiger had some sort of growth in/near his intestines, it was probably cancer, and when cats get cancer it's all over so I might as well put him to sleep. I took Tiger to Dr. Klingborg for a second opinion, which turned out to be - surprise! - Tiger is not dying. That was over a year ago and Tiger is a happy, playful kitty maintaining his lower weight and eating, drinking, and pooping like a normal kitty. Dr. Klingborg was patient and kind when I was a blubbering mess. Such a nice place. I just drove up from Orange County to pick up a puppy. I found this place on yelp and they were able to schedule me in last minute for a puppy check up and shots. So glad I was able to get this done before the long road trip back down south. Facility is very clean and beautifully decorated. Staff and doctor are all very friendly and accommodating. Dr klingborg has been the vet for my two mini schnauzers ever since they were puppies (ten yrs old now) and I can't say enough good things about him. He is knowledgeable, kind and has a wonderful way with my "babies". Both of them have multiple health problems and he has been on top of each illness and treated them aggressively when necessary while managing to keep me calm and "grounded" (not easy to do). Dr Klingborg has been my vet for 3 years. I got a teacup poodle for Christmas from my family, our first visit was when Jack was about 8 weeks. Dr K recommended the puppy package, which includes shots, chipping and his valuable advice. Since then we have gotten to know the staff, vet techs and Dr. K. I have never seen such compassion and bedside manner in a vet before. Jack and I were there this morning for some issues Jack was having, Dr K knows I am a basket case when it comes to Jack's health, I swear he takes as good care of the pet parents as he does the pet. I am always nervous and upset so Jack gets upset but Dr K has the kindest soul. Every time my Jack is just shaking with nerves as soon as Dr K touches him he calms down and relaxes allowing for a thorough exam. Again today Dr K didn't let me down. Jack has some medicine now and is on the mend. Additionally when I wanted to take Jack off of "dog food" and put him on a people food diet, Amy, one of the vet techs, faxed me a complete set of instructions and list of items to include recipes for the transition. This business goes beyond the norm in treating their animal patients and pet parents. I highly recommend them to all pet owners (they treat a variety of species too). Dr. Lauppe was extremely helpful and provided some great insight into the problems my cat, George, was experiencing. He was clearly concerned about George's health, and requested some further tests, but made sure to only request what was really necessary and didn't look to get any unnecessary, expensive tests that would've been hard for me to afford as a college student. Once we determined that George wasn't suffering a immediate life threatening condition, Dr. Lauppe gave me his office cell number and told me I was free to contact him and send him any videos or pictures describing George's condition and he would provide me further advice. He also followed up with me only a few days later to see how George was doing. I was very satisfied with Valley Animal Hospital, and I got the strong impression that Dr. Lauppe was genuinely concerned about the health of my cat, and not looking to request any unnecessary tests or procedures only to raise the cost. My dog had a sore on her back leg that the previous vet did not seem concerned about. I was not concerned either since I thought she was going it in her very fast trips around the yard and through the garden. But, after 18 months, she had pretty much stopped that game and still had not healed. The vet still did not seem concerned so I made an appointment with Dr. Klinborg. Almost 10 years ago, I brought my dog, Molly in for parvo. She had previously been treated at another vets office (out of town). Unfortunately, she wasn't getting better. When Dr. Klingborg saw her, he actually promised me that he would make her better...and he did:) We have continued to bring our pets to VAH over the years, and have nothing but positive things to say about the facility and the Dr's. Last year, my silky terrier was diagnosed with kidney failure. He was so severe, that they really thought he wouldn't last a month, but my little miracle lived another 14 months. Unfortunately, we had to put him to sleep. Not long after that, I received a little package in the mail from VAH...it was his paw print, in plaster. Made me cry tears of joy. After having to go through something so devastating, it was wonderful to receive such a perfect gift. Just this month, I received a letter from Davis School of Veterinary Medicine, informing me that VAH made a donation to the Companion Animal Memorial Fund, in memory of my little guy.
