We were unable to walk our dogs; they were out of control sled-dogs, dragging us behind them. They were afraid of water sprinklers, running garden hose. And very timid and nervous - to the point they would bark at any one other than family that came near them. Tom changed our lives. I honestly can't imagine our lives without his intervention. Amazingly, he came to our home for a FREE hour consultation. His "consultation" turned out to be a combination of introduction of himself (years of military dog handling, training others to teach obedience and his own dog training business), assessment of our dogs, training options available to us, and most importantly- hope. Tom worked with both our dogs, together, and had them under control in less than 5 minutes. We immediately signed on for private training sessions for both dogs. Tom tailored our training (yes, he trained us right along w/ our girls) to meet our individual needs and preferences. We usually met with him twice a week for a total of 12 sessions. Because we had two dogs, we would work with them at the same time, but focus on one's needs, then alternate. The system worked beautifully. As a follow-up after completing our private sessions, we have continued to enroll our dogs in Tom's group classes. Even though we have all mastered basic obedience, our girls need on-going opportunities for socializing. The classes are perfect as a safe, controlled environment for them to be around other dogs and people. We now walk our girls, under control and at heel, every day. We take them with us when we go for coffee and the pet store. They are perfectly well-mannered and know they must behave. We recently were even able to take one of them to Carmel. She stayed with us in a fancy hotel, laid quietly under the table as we ate at restaurants and best of all, ran free off-leash on the beach without a single problem.

They were recommended to me, because they are capable of accommodating aggressive and/or working dogs. Their kennel set up allows for them to care for dogs without having to enter the kennel. Gary and Peggy are the owners of this company. They have always been a pleasure to deal with for booking boarding dates. I have never had any issues with how they have cared for my dog over the years. My dog always looks healthy, cared for and excited to come home. Their rates are pretty reasonable and are priced by dog sizes. Their prices can be found on their website. They are open most days of the week. They used to have hours posted, but have since changed their hours to appointment only. Although I have never utilized their training services, I have heard good things about their training methods. She seemed a perfect fit until she become comfortable a couple months after. From then onwards she was an absolute nightmare to say the least. Ollie had SO MANY issues I couldn't even name them all. And we're not talking about basic obedience problems. She had aggressive tendencies. But the scariest was her unpredictability where she can be sweet one second and snap in the immediate next for absolutely no apparent reason. We sought professional help from multiple trainers, advice from several professionals, including our vet, the shelter where we rescued her from, and several other rescue groups. One Pitbull group specifically stated she was "predatory and dangerous and needs to be euthanized." Over time, Ollie did not improve and in fact became increasingly aggressive. After an incident where she cornered a family member we came to the conclusion that the recommendation for behavioral euthanasia was in fact the only solution. With a heavy heart, we decided to go that route for the safety of everyone. We took a few days off to spend spoiling her and when the day came, Ollie was sedated and the mobile euthanasia vet on her way over. But at that last moment as she laid her head on my lap and looked at us, something just didn't feel right. We pulled the plug on the whole operation then and there. In a last ditch effort, the next two days were spent on the phone doing consultations to several board training facilities. Unfortunately I didn't get a great feel for them. Then I received a call from my vet's office from their receptionist who told me she heard Bone-A-Fide did a great job with difficult cases. At this point I didn't have much hope but I called and left them a msg anyway. And I am SO HAPPY I did!!! Stephanie from Bone-A-Fide Dog Training called me back and spent almost two hours on the phone with me. I explained all of Ollie's issues and she basically became our angel right then and there. Full wings and all! What immediately made Stephanie different is that instead of talking prices and making promises, she was genuinely sympathetic, truly listened, and assured me that as hard as it was, sometimes behavioral euthanasia is the kindest thing to do for a dog with so many issues. But she wanted to help us any way she could. She had me send over some videos of Ollie just to observe her and said she would meet with her team and get back to me. The next morning she called to set up an in-person consultation and came up with a game plan. For the next few months Stephanie, Kari, and Kim worked with Ollie and the transformation was unreal! Truly, what resulted was a phenomenon. They set realistic expectations and worked with us humans on how to communicate with her. While Ollie will always have her quirks, she did a complete 180 and her "quirks" are just that. No longer dangerous. We still work with Ollie every day to remind both her and ourselves that it is an ongoing progress. But the progress has been amazing. Ollie is now even great friends with other dogs she previously tried to attack! Ollie is proof that with the RIGHT trainer anything can happen! Bone-A-Fide was so professional, kind, knowledgeable, and I felt that through it all they do this because they truly love it. It was never about a price. To this day, Stephanie still checks in with us to make sure all is well. I cannot recommend them enough! They literally saved Ollie's life when everyone else had given up. NARRATIVE: I can only write this review about my interactions with Jack, since he has been the only person I've had direct contact with. Jack is a true professional (aka: Dog Whisperer). My first visit with him with my pup was an indoctrination meeting. Basically, I sat and Jack watched how my dog dealt new surroundings and some unexpected, never had my seen before items. During the hour interaction with both my dog and I, Jack asked questions and gave me tips on how I can start getting my pup to reach the goals I expect and wish her to perform. Jack is patient. Attentive and like myself, gruff. I like that! SCENE: K9 Development is located in rural Tracy, off of Hansen Road, behind the Safeway distribution warehouse. The road getting to Jack and Amy's is a compacted gravel road with speed bumps along the way. The maximum speed limit is 10 miles per hour. No rooster tails unless you wish to find out what I mean when I say Jack can be gruff. RECOMMENDATION(S): Like I stated, I can only speak for my interactions with Jack which thus far have been fantastic. Yes, guaranteed dog training comes with a steep $100 price tag for a 4 week session BUT IT IS TOTALLY WORTH IT (And you are a "lifetime member"-meaning after the 4 week course you can come back for free) I am in week 2 with my dog and we are already seeing great results (she is sitting, laying down etc) Janet, the owner called prior to the first class to field questions and ease anxieties and then called again after class #2 to check in and see how things were going. I really appreciated that and can tell she truly wants us to succeed! They email "homework" after the class which has pointers and a review of the class which is very helpful. There are 3 or 4 other trainers/aides there that are hands on in the class too (i was worried that with 10-15 dogs it would be hard to get one on one help but there are more than enough trainers there to lend a hand) I really don't know why we didn't sign up for this class years ago! Kelly is a true professional Breeder that cares about every pup she breeds!…read more In May 2016 I met Kelly when I rescued a half Yorkie half Brussels who was left at the vet and never picked up. Kelly as the Breeder was the emergency contact and paid the vet to rescue Pookie. She only asked for $450 for this darling 2 year old little girl to cover her vet costs to rescue her. Kelly picked me to have Pookie as I have a neutered male Brussels Griffon Rocco and she liked that I understood the breed. We have enjoyed Pookie so much and everything Kelly told me and followed up with me on was true. She said Pookie would be needy and follow u around everywhere plus try to sneak out with u when u get in car. Others found that annoying but I love it as she and Rocco are just a like! We have stayed in contact so in Feb early 2017 we picked out two Yorkie's each from a different litter - as both litters were born around the same time and available at 12 weeks. A darling little boy Axel who my 11 year old picked out is ours now whose dad was on site and Daddy Duke only weighed 2.5 pounds.Mom was 5 so we knew that he would be tiny as weighed only 1.6 then. My older son picked for his dads house as my ex agreed to get a new pet as lost his English bulldog recently, picked a Girl from the other "larger" litter named Harley now. She was 3.6 pounds and Kelly clearly stated that she would most likely at adult sized be 5 to 6 pounds and Axel between 3 to 4. Anyone who is looking at Kelly as a Breeder should know she has been doing this for over 20 years and the success and caring nature of her business is clear to me by her communication, follow up and truly knowledge the breed with HONESTY. Example: Kelly was concerned recently about the male we picked out - he had been snorting and that he should be vet checked right away. My boys and I had the afternoon free so offered to take him to her vet but could not get an appt until later in afternoon. The boys and her son, Kelly and I went to a yummy Vietnamese restaurant while we waited for Vet and I offered to pay, when I came out of restroom she had taken care of bill!! So nice! Vet said nothing wrong with Axel but that he has the reverse sneeze which I am used to because Rocco has it. She also dropped off at that time other puppies poop samples for fecal testing which to me is a responsible Breeder in more ways to highlight. Both puppies were seen by our vet here in Santa Rosa within the 7 days of contract in perfect health and given next round of vaccines. If your looking to purchase a Yorkie look no further and as with everything in life you get what you pay for. These are well cared for healthy pups that are sold usually by Kelly for pets but she does have some that are show quality and can breed but you gotta pay more if that's your desire and in reading the past reviews of unhappy owners it's clear they did not read the contract as she will work with anyone to make them happy along with guarantee if you follow contract which is a simple one.
