Upon completion of an acrylic nail service etc for my daughter, to the tune of 100 dollars it was made clear that tipping was not an option, but mandatory. I understand that many service people rely on tips to supplement their meager hourly wage, and had planned to tip accordingly for service above and beyond. Instead I handed him 10 dollars and I will NEVER darken their door again. Gratuities are extra money in Gratitude for good service, not extortion. We were having lunch in Milford and chose to stop in to get pedicures. From the minute we got in until we left you saw the staff constantly cleaning and disinfecting the various areas where they were servicing their customers. They offer various types of pedicures, I chose the sea salt scrub which felt really good. The pedicure was done experto y Alina and the massage along with the hot stones was perfect! You really don't realize how much stress you put on your feet on a daily basis, so to have a foot massage really helps. I'm going on a cruise and while I normally do my own pedicure and Manicure. I ran out of time. I googled and found Jo Jo Nails. I live in Stratford so it was on the way home. The reviews all seem to say it was a good place so I took a chance. I got there and sis I wanted a pedicure and manicure, gel. I don't know the young lady's name as she never offered it. I will just say that my pedicure was done in about 10-15 minutes (I got there a little after 5. My receipt shows the time of 17:20)The first two colors that I wanted they did not have. I picked a third color that was a bright orange it looks red. I kept trying to talk to the young lady, but it seems she couldn't understand me. I was really disappointed and decided not to get the manicure. There was a young man at the front who seem to be the interpreter for her. I tried talking to him. I said my feet were not scrubbed, they were still rough. He told me that's because I got the basic pedicure. I told him the color was wrong, he never addressed that issue. I asked if he was the manager and he said he was. I asked for his name, he said it was Echo. I did not yell, was not rude, and was very respectful to him when I was explaining why I was unhappy. I went to this nail salon with my hopes up but then I was let down by multiple things. This is the worst nail salon I have ever been to. They made 3 of my fingers bleed, the nail specialist kept coughing the entire time of painting my nails, and she didn't even change the dirty gloves when giving me a massage. What a truly awful experience going to Joe Joe nail was. The customer service here is horrendous. I don't think I've ever been treated treated more rudely. When I told the nail technician that she was hurting me, she yelled at me and told me it was because my nails were too short. She then pushed my hand, almost threw it back each time she was done with a nail. And what ridiculous prices. I then got a pedicure and the girl who did the pedicure was a little nicer but not much. I would not recommend coming here. It looks dirty inside and the chairs are ripped and then dad array. Save your money go to Queens nails instead. read more

AWEFULLLL..I've been going here for years and Echo is the only one that knows what hes doing..Jay is good too...but Leah beware!! I called to make an appointment switched from UV GEL for 10 years and decided to do regular gel bc i wanted to avoid putting my nails under the uv light for years...asked how long the appointment would take she said 40 minutes..i get there and was there for an hour then she tells me one more hour till im done!! i had to leave and go back bc i had another appointment..in the meantime she soaked my nails and left my natural nails which are paper thin..I returned 2 hours later and one had broken in the meantime and one she had filed like shit on the side...the owner now tells me i need 2 new nails ok..mind u i already paid and left a 20% tip before i left first time...she finishes my nails which are all uneven and rough and he tells me i owe $6...are u serious?? Its your fault i needed 2 more tips!! And shes clearly talking shit in chinese..so many issues with her and the owner has no common sense on how to run a business or customer service...dont waste your precious time.. read more

First and last time here. Went in for a basic pedicure and there were no pamphlets with prices available. I chose my polish and got setup in the chair. It had a plastic cover over the bowl and the tech wore gloves. The polishes seemed old and separated. After asking for the 3rd time for pricing I was given a menu showing the cheapest being $55. I asked once again if it was the most basic pedicure offered and my tech said yes. It felt like she was stabbing me with the cuticle clippers and it was insanely painful, the metal grater almost had me in tears and left my feet beet red overnight. The whole process was not relaxing and felt cheap and half assed. The stones were way too hot and the towels smelled. The first foam foot scrubber was thrown in the basin with me and my dirty water and put right back in the bin for the next customer. I was not offered a massage while drying and sat there for 20 minutes with no one checking on me. His name was Michael and he didn't change his gloves from the last customer. The acrylic was laid so sloppy and bumpy it's absurd. After putting on the wrong color and design more than five times, I got frustrated and tried to correct him. He started speaking in another language yelling at me. He tried to put on top coat when I didn't even have the design on my nails. Never going back. Amazing service... lived in CT for ~4 years and had the hardest time finding a nail salon like the one I used to go to that was not outrageous in pricing. Was recommended this place by an friend and LOVED IT!! I have never been good at calling and making appointments but they made it so easy and I did not feel stressed on the call. They were able to get me in pretty quick and the staff is really nice. They have powder, gel, and regular polish (I got regular for the first time because I was a bit hesitant due to previous experiences from nail salons in CT). They had amazing prices. I got the green tea pedicure and it came with a 15 min massage (of the legs and feet and included hot stones). The place was very nice and clean and has a ton of parking and was easy to find. Been going here for more than three years. Have been mostly satisfied until lately when there has been decline in customer service. Has the usual language barrier issues and over charging due to addition errors. Most of the time it has been clean, maintained with individual sterilized equipment. Last two times the person I requested was not available and this time I was told by Sophia that you couldn't request a specific person to do your nails unless you requested a design element. My words not hers. She asked me if I wanted cut down and proceeded to cut down my nails without checking my preferences. Than she gel covered my whole right hand rather than going a few nails at a time. They are rude and speak their language loudly to one another in a rude fashion. I tried 4 times to like this place... and sadly- no. Not even with a Groupon - friendly enough but here's what was missing... Great service and a thorough job. And sanitization. The tools used on me were pulled out of a drawer- no UV, no antiseptic, nada. I get gel polish and each time I went my GEL POLISH started peeling within a day! By day 4 I looked like I had a regular polish two weeks prior. LADIES, we all know gel polish is virtually indestructible, and this kept happening, every time, and I let them know what had happened each time but they did nothing different. I think honestly, the nail person (I won't say tech) skipped a critical nail bed prep step. 1 star for language skilled. 1 star for service satisfaction.3 stars for cleanliness. 4 stars for friendly. I've been here a few times and I really loved it. I normally do my own nails so not having to was great. I absolutely love Sophia and Echo did a great job last time. My last visit was different, i had someone new and went in for a gel tip removal. Well she tried using a plastic nail tip to pry off the tips I had on and completely ripped my nail under. It was incredibly painful then when I said to just leave that nail alone and just file down the rest, she just kept working on it. She tried using the electric file on it and broke it even more. It was bleeding at that point. I told her again to leave it alone and do the rest, absolutely didn't listen. I should have just walked out but I hate being that kind of person. She finished my nails with dip power like I originally wanted (even thought i said multiple times to just file the gel off and thats it) they're so bumpy and misshapen. The tips didn't actually get removed and my nail/finger is still in a lot of pain yet still paid $50 for it all. I wanted to argue but I just wanted to leave. Now ill have to go through the exra pain of removing what she did myself so i can at least properly clean where my nail broke. I probably won't be back. read more

Not only was this not a great experience but my acrylic set was terrible and I paid close to $75 dollars including the tip. The experience itself was very strange. With no explanation I had three completely silent nail technicians switch on and off doing my nails. Twice I had my nail tech abruptly get up with no explanation and someone else would replace them. I had asked for a coffin shape and I knew it was more expensive, but I have never paid this much for nails in my life. The coffin shapes were so bad and uneven that it was almost hilarious- it looked like something I could have done myself if it was my first time ever trying. The acrylic was laid on super thick and gross and even worse, a week lately my nails started lifting off and cracking around the edges. They only lasted for a week. At first glance, I left the salon disappointed in my nails but thinking they were passable, later in the night I realized just how bad they actually looked when I looked at them closer. The salon itself is not bad looking but the overall price and experience is not worth it at all. I would highly recommend MT Nail and Spa down the street(in fact the only reason I came here was because MT was shut down for a few weeks while the owners were away). read more

Ignore the negative reviews and try this place out for yourself. Sparkle Nail, in my experience, is a moderately sized salon that is both very clean and very professional. The nail techs are kind and willing to fix any imperfections you may find with your service, without complaint. They have a decent selection of shellac colors and a large selection of non-gel, if that's more your speed. They shell out amazing manicures at a reasonable price and speed. Overall, I would recommend this place if you're in the area. Oh, and it's worth a mention that they also included a free chair massage. It was a pleasant surprise. read more

I visited this place twice in a one month period. Both times a not so great experience. First time, met a friend here and got a gel manicure. Not sure if the woman was just inexperienced but the color was missing on the sides of my nail, the nail itself was sharp on the corners and they ended up chipping two days later. Second time, I got a Groupon for a spa pedicure. Granted I didn't read the fine print that said you need to make an appointment but I came in and nobody was here so once I realized, I didn't think it would be an issue (but I did offer to come back with an appointment). The woman (Kim) was short with me and acted slighted towards me after I told her I had a Groupon. (I've noticed this a couple times when using a Groupon at businesses. Which always makes me laugh. The Groupon is supposed to bring customers in. Not guilt them for using it). At first she was very friendly. The pedicure itself was actually really good. The callous remover is great and the ten minute massage was very relaxing. Overall, I won't be returning. I have a place up the street that's always on point. This place needs to have better customer service and better a gel manicures. read more

If I could give 0 stars I absolutely would. I found a Groupon for $20 mani and pedi so I was happy about that. I went to buy the order but there was some type of glitch that repeatedly popped up saying there was an error with this specific option. I waved it off and said I'm sure they can help me out when I get to the salon. I go into the salon and spoke to a rude, minimally English speaking worker by the name of Michael. He said he doesn't know what to do and for me to call the number on the Groupon. I called the number and obviously it was the salons number, so he clearly was right about not knowing what to do. I went to order the other option to see if the same pop up would appear and it didn't so I figured there must be a problem with just the mani-pedi selection. I kindly asked if he could just charge me the $20 and I would pay with my credit card, he said "nope" I then kindly asked if he could call his boss to ask for permission perhaps he said "why" I said to explain the situation he said "no she's in New York" I said what does that have to do with anything? And he said "no" I told him he was a horrible employee and he smiled. This man should be fired, he will make sparkles business go down the drain. I walked in with a Groupon and was accommodated (even though you do need an appointment), the women at the front desk was very nice. I picked out a beautiful color from a nice selection of polishes. I had a pedicure done! The chair was comfy with a nice massage. The spa pedicure itself was overall a relaxing and lovely experience. She did a fabulous job with my polish and I am overly happy. This was a wonderful experience! Met my friend for a pedicure, and paid $20 for a great pedicure that included a hot stone foot massage and shoulder massage! We walked in and had no problem being seen. They were fast, very friendly, and did a great job. they also have a reward card where if you get 10 visits you get a free manicure. I'd highly recommend them and will be going back, even though it is not the closest nail salon to my house.
