The first thing I asked myself was, "do I really want to eat a hamburger at 9 AM in the morning?" After asking a couple of people in line the same question, they had an answer, they said it was THAT good. I was sold. My wife wanted us to split one hamburger but the others in line advised me against it. I am SO glad I listened. I have never had a hamburger that was so flavorful in my life. Their special sauce and the way they cook it, I am convinced, makes it taste so epic. I saw the food from this truck on IG and I knew I had to try it. I finally made it out the Farmer's Market to get a taste. Even though it was a bit early to eat pasta, I knew I had to try the breakfast carbonara. No regrets at all. I also got to try my friend's morning bruschetta, which is served with hash browns instead of bread (genius!). I loved both of these dishes; everything was so flavorful! I would definitely recommend the food here. It can be a bit heavy though for the morning, but if you can handle it or come a little later than I did, definitely go for it. My boyfriend and I decided to skip class for this one and let me say it was worth it! We've seen a lot about them on social media and my boyfriend has been dying to try them. We made the drive to Waikele What The Truck and got in line about 20 minutes before opening (3:15ish). Waiting area was organized and we were helped fairly quickly despite the line. We got the burgers around 4:00 which might seem like awhile but we were expecting longer. It's also not a big deal because you can walk around and check out the market. They write your order number on a sheet you can see if you miss them calling you. The food was amazing! We bought 5 burgers and the bacon truffle fries. My boyfriend was in heaven. It was nice and hot and very flavorful. Definitely worth a try! Just be open to waiting a little as they are working their hardest to get everyone's order out in a timely manner and have to deal with a lot of people. We will be back! read more

Updated review! 5/2022! So I was planning on giving them another shot one day (today was the day). Thank you to the owners that reached out to me and offered a replacement, but that was ok, it wasn't needed! I really like to support small businesses so it was a little painful that I didn't like the fish and chips at the time. Today was redemption day! And they totally redeemed themselves. They were parked along cool street so it might be a little hard to find parking, but I got lucky when I circled the block for a second time. I ordered the cookies (since I knew it was good already) and the steak salad with the cheese on the side. The steak was cooked and seasoned perfectly! It wasn't tough, chewy or salty. It was served alongside some egg salad and ranch. Not sure if the ranch was homemade but it was yummy! The steak salad was about 18$ and the cookie was 4$. Service was really friendly and the wait wasn't very long. ---------- I finally got to try the infamous Italian food truck that's all the rave in town. It's a very cute truck that's parked in Kakaako, ward, or at the hawaii Kai farmers market - you can't miss it! They had a fish and chips special ($18) for that week that I wanted to try, although it was very moist, I didn't receive any tartar sauce and the food was extremely salty. I also got the calamari ($8) which was also really salty. The ube afogato ($8) looked promising, but there was more ice cream than coffee which reminded me more of a milkshake than afogato. The cookies ($5) was defiantly the star of everything I got. Which is kind of unfortunate in a way lol. I had a lot of left over and re-heated the food and it kinda turned black. I was told it was because they use old oil?? It was kind of in-edible to be honest to reheat it in a air fryer. They also sell kimchi but the jar was sold out. Placed my order waited for about 30 mins for my order to come out. The burgers I would give it 2 stars out of 5. I honestly think I could make it at home. Maybe even better?!? Had them at the Pearl Country Club and thankfully they took our order early for pick up once the event started! There is everything right about this burger.. the smashburger Patties have a tender bite with crispy edges, a perfect amount of gooey cheese, caramelized onions to balance out the saltiness from the cheese, and truffle aioli which is truly the cherry on top. The bun is a simple bun which I actually love and reminded me of in n out. The orange sauce on the side is a reminder of la Vic's orange sauce in the Bay Area (if you know.. YOU KNOW). Yum! Glad I finally got to try Joja! I got the truffle burger at the Kakaako farmers market. I was in line by 9:10 and got my burger around 9:45. I recommend going very early if you want to try a burger. Even though the line was short when I got there, it got longer very quickly and there were also people waiting for their orders. I have a toddler who was getting fussy and hungry by the time I got my burger so I recommend going alone when you have lots of time to cruise and eat! $18 was pricey but it was one of the top burgers I've eaten in a long time! read more

Delicious and worth the wait. If by chance you don't finish your burger, it reheats very well. Bun wasn't soggy even with reheating. Tasted like when I first got the burger. I ordered the Oklahoma truffle smash burger and animal fries. Total came out to 30 bucks. I waited bout hour half for it. Figured the wait with the hype should be worth it but I guess some people just over hyped it a little too much for me. I understand they make it as you order it and if people in front of you have a big order then there's not much you can do with the time but to just be patient and wait but to me as long the burger and fries was worth it I'll be patient and let you do your thing. Okokok. So after being an IG stalker of JoJa's for a while and talking to people i know that have tried it, i had to plan strategically how to finally get my hands on it. Ono grinds and Makeke at WaiKai was my chance. I moved out of Ewa years ago and traffic and drivers these days are horrendous but i mentally committed. Got there around 5pm and the line didn't seem too long. The view, the breeze, and the grass under my feet while in line made the hour go by fairly quickly. Ordered 4 smash burgers (don't fkn judge me), bacon cheddar fries, and animal fries. I figured we might as well order 2 for each of us so if it's as magical as it looks we can eat the extra one the next day. Their operation is wild and let me tell you just watching their hustle alone makes waiting worth it. Alright so as much as I enjoy a great burger, this fkn smash burger is something out of this world. The fkn hype is real. I was worried that my other half would say it's overrated and not worth the wait but even HE said it was legit and is now team JoJa. My 11yr old who is picky af and hates onions took one bite and said "whoa that's really good". Gnocchi is cooked good but just taste okay nothing fancy at all. Egg is cooked just the way I like. I am not disappointed but not impressed either. A bit pricey at the same time which I'm debating myself if what scale should I put on this one. DRINK: Italian Soda blackberry flavor ($5 + tax), oh boy, it was so refreshing. I enjoyed it so much! Good burger, but not the best I've had. I liked the crispy edges on the smashed burger patties. The bun was good too. Personally, it was a bit too salty with all the sauce and cheese. This place is over rated. Got to try them out when they were at Wai Kai. One of the first in line and they still skipped our number multiple times. While waiting and watching, the guy prepping fries, dropped one of the to go containers on the ground and rather than throwing it away he put the container back. They also wear gloves but never change it. The burger cook also sweating all over the grill. After finally getting our food it wasn't as great as all these folks were saying. As we wandered around the Kaka'ako Farmers Market this past Saturday, we took their new location at 210 Ward Avenue. Along with more food stalls, we noticed familiar food trucks that we've supported previously. We quickly noticed the JOJA food truck that we've seen once parked on Ward Avenue in late January 2021, but we've been supporting them at their Cooke Street location during weekdays since they're near our home. The "carb monster" in us drew us to the slick black food truck to visit with its owners, Joslyn and Jason Lee. From what I understand, both owners have extensive restaurant experience and have even owned/operated restaurants in the San Francisco area. Luckily, the Lee Family sold their restaurant, built and invested in a brand-spanking-new food truck to pack up and move to Hawai'i. They chose Hawai'i since they'd visit annually and enjoyed our peoples and the climate. Joslyn is gregarious and efficiently runs the front of the house by taking the food orders, cashiering, and managing the distribution. Meanwhile, in the back of the house, Jason makes his restaurant-quality pasta dishes to order. I believe he makes the kinds of pasta and sauces from scratch. Their menu consists of light bites that range in price from $8 to $12, a couple of entrées with rice $17, five plates of pasta using fettuccine, rigatoni, or gnocchi paired with either cream-based, meat or meatless sauces $16 to $17, and a non-alcoholic beverage list. We tried their Fettuccine Shrimp that features six clean and perfectly cooked shelled shrimp, large chips of crisp applewood smoked bacon, and a generous portion of fresh fettuccine cooked in a roasted garlic white sauce. $17. This pasta is flavorful and may put you into a food coma. Lucky for us, we ate this for lunch and just relaxed for the rest of the day. The second dish that we ordered was the Rigatoni Pesto which was herbaceous, cheesy, and fresh tasting. I liked the balsamic vinegar reduction drizzle, which added a little sweetness to the herbs and cheese. Pricey, long lines... but 100% worth it. I tried their smash burger (the only one on the menu) and truffle fries for the first time today at the Kakaako Farmers Market. Even at 8:45 am, there's a long line. People really know what's good. The burgers are made in batches, not when they're ordered- really efficient way to keep up with the high volume of orders. And it smells amazing as you're waiting in the well-organized line. Your order number is called out in batches as well. The wait for the food was shorter than to order. The burger is juicy. I'm in truffle heaven- it's not truffle salt, as it didn't taste salty but truffle-y. Wasn't expecting a side sauce- it's the spicy orange sauce. As if the burger couldn't be any more tasty than it already is, this unique sauce gives it a nice kick. Instant fan. There's no brick and mortar store yet.... On right of them, Katsu Sando. I asked Jocelyn what she recommended. She said the specials of the day. My order was 2 of specials that were soba and prawns and gnocchi bolognese. I loved the flavors of the soba, prawn, and small tobiko with the kick of wasabl. This is my 2nd eating gnocchi from them and I loved flavors. I was searching on Yelp and came across this food truck but I  thought they were on Ward Ave but then realized they were on Cooke St. When I saw the words "We got  Noods" on the food truck, I thought they were affiliated with Noods Ramen but it's actually called JOJA and you can find them on Instagram under @joja.hawaii. I have guessed right that their company's name was a part of the couple's names "JO" for Jos or Joselyn and JA for Jason.   They used to have a restaurant on the mainland but they are now here in Hawaii operating from their food truck! They have been opened for only two weeks! You'll find them on M-F from 11:00am - 2:30pm on Cooke St on the side of the Imperial Plaza between Queen St. and Kapiolani Blvd.  Saturdays  from 11:30 am - 2:30 pm on Ward Avenue by the Ohana Hale Marketplace.    They also do the Kaiser Farmers Market on Tuesdays for dinner from 4pm - 7pm. They sell some sides, a desserts and mainly the Pastas (Noods-Noodles) ! As one reviewer said, restaurant quality from a food truck.  It's my first time here and  I was eyeing up Bam Bam pasta but I was bummed it had shrimps inside but she said I can have it without shrimps if I want.  She also suggested the Gnocchi Mushroom which was one of their specialty with House made Gnocchi in a creamy triple mushroom sauce with fresh basil drizzled with Balsamic reduction.  That's what I've decided on and it was rich and delicious with a lot of mushrooms. I love mushrooms and it was with house made Gnocchi!   The Triple Mushroom Cream sauce was good but sometimes cream sauce can be too rich for me to handle. Although I should have some veggies, so when I saw Tempura Broccoli ($7) , I was sold! lol.  it was good by it self or with the ginger aioli sauce provided.  The crispiness made the broccoli yummy.    I saw the dessert but forgot to get it.  Later on, I saw someone Yelp photo's comment that you can get the dessert with a Yelp's check in. Never would have expected so find such a gem of an Italian spot at a farmers market food truck, but JOJA delivered!! A friend recommended it as "Italian street food" and that was a great way to describe it. The menu all sounded amazing. Every single thing on the menu was tempting actually. I asked the awesome girl what her suggestions were and her second favorite was the mushroom gnocchi, which was the one that was most enticing to me. I also got the fried calamari which was BY FAR the best calamari I've had on the island. The ONLY thing that would have made it better would be a different dipping sauce option. Maybe an aioli or something of the sort. The gnocchi was also incredible. Absolutely delicious! Got to try, for the first time, one of the special pasta dishes at the @joja.hawaii food truck this past Saturday at the Kakaako Farmers Market. We called to make a huge preorder (about 12 orders on a weekday) for a retirement party and these guys were spot on. Food was ready on time, packed up and all. It was so seamless we thought something was surely wrong - but nope, it was all good! We got a bunch of noodles - which were so soft I was certain their were handmade - and some tempura broccoli (so delicious!) and poke. We will definitely be getting that broccoli again! Big portions, very good food! I love going to the Kailua farmers market on Sundays and I found this gem there. The mochiko chicken came with more than enough wings and rice to make anyone full. SO delicious and worth every penny!! I was a little hesitant to fork over $16 for pasta from a food truck, but wow. Let me tell you, the pasta here is better than some places that are way too overhyped right now. We tried the Gnocchi Mushroom, Bang Bang, Bolognese, and Dragon Soba when they were located at the Kaiser High School PTA Farmers Market. The food took about 15 minutes to prepare, and it was piping hot when we got it. The portions are pretty good for the price that you pay, and the quality is *chefs kiss* so amazing. I'm usually not a soba fan, but I would pay to get the Dragon Soba again! The flavors were amazing, and the kimchee soba sounded a little weird at first, especially paired with other bold flavors like wasabi aioli and sriracha, but they instead worked perfectly together. The prawns were also fried to perfection. the Bang Bang was a little on the spicy side, with jumbo shrimp, Italian sausage and mushrooms. the rigatoni in the Bolognese and linguine in the Bang Bang were both cooked to the perfect al dente - firm with a slight chew. the Gnocchi Mushroom was my favorite thing ever, and I think it's on my list of top pasta dishes now. The potato gnocchi was SO fluffy and you could actually taste the hint of salt they incorporated into the dough. The mushroom sauce was super creamy, and although I couldn't really taste the balsamic reduction, it did help to cut the creaminess of the sauce. They had a truck at the Hawaii Kai farmers market at Kaiser HS. With so many options we only got the Mozzarella ala Zodka penne. The serving was a good size as you can see from many of the other photos posted. It was very tasty and the pasta was not overcooked and not al dente so great. We would pick up from this truck again. I literally couldn't find one single thing to complain about ... you will wait but it's due to the amount of customers not the lack of production . Burger patty itself was seasoned the solo is so Sutton and meshes well with the cheese for a creamy delicious base . The cheese even toasts a little so you have a bit of crunch and the fries are just as good literally you can order anything and it'll be amazing .
