Next issue, tried to open my skylight - the crew installed my skylight backwards, rendering it inoperable. Sent a guy out, reinstalled it, thought "great! no problem". So I went to open my skylight, it is broken, he damaged it on the re-install. Lastly, I'll let the photos speak for themselves. I have had a call from the owner, Lior Leviav, acknowledging his crew significantly damaged my eaves, burned my fascia, splintered the underside of my patio roof by using nails that were too large for the job, but I have had NO offer of help, repair, compensation to make this right. I obtained 3 quotes from professional painters who will need to file down these nails one by one, patch the holes, re-prime and paint, remove spilled tar from the eaves, repair burned fascia and the quotes range from $5500- $3500. I have submitted a formal request for payment so I can repair this damage that California First Roofing have caused and I have received no written response. There is not one single square foot of roof that is not punctured by these nail holes, splintering my wood. I am disgusted that a company as big as this cannot do the right thing and pay for the damage they caused. When speaking with Lior Leviav about a $4000 quote for repairs, (which does not include skylight repairs) Lior told me "It's not worth my while, the painter is trying to rip me off". In fact it is California First Roofing who is trying to rip ME off. I paid almost $15K for a roof that has leaked, rendered my skylight inoperable, absolutely destroyed the wood beams in my eaves and patio and am now being ignored. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! Heading to small claims court so I can get the repairs done. Will update as we go!

What impressed me most was that he worked right alongside his crew every day and appeared to work just as hard as anyone on the team. The crew consistently arrived just before 7:00 AM, but never started work early out of consideration for us and our neighbors. They were dependable, communicative, and showed up exactly when they said they would. Another thing that really stood out was how clean and organized they kept the job site. At the end of each day, they thoroughly cleaned the area around our home, swept the sidewalks, and carefully searched for nails and debris. Chris was also very accurate and honest with his estimates. He explained upfront that any damaged wood replacement would be additional because it's impossible to know the extent of hidden damage ahead of time. In our case, there was a significant amount of dry rot and insect damage, but all of the extra woodwork still came in well within the estimated range he had provided. The project was also completed about a day earlier than expected. As an added touch, Chris even offered to paint the fascia for us if I supplied the matching paint. Overall, this was an outstanding experience from start to finish. We've worked with many contractors over the years, and this company ranks among the very best. I would absolutely recommend them to anyone needing roofing work done.

Techs were both super nice and hard working. They finished the repair in a few hours. I received the invoice a few weeks later, and notice a small discrepancy. Joe verified the work with his technicians and fix the invoice. Excellent customer service! Communication, work and customer service is great. Love working with companies like this. After completion, we found several issues: broken garage panels, a missing attic panel, and exposed porch nails. We told the manager when he picked up the check. He called them 'just cosmetic' but said his team would fix them. No one came until I followed up, and repairs were finished on May 30, 2025, including replacing damaged wood on the porch and garage. About three months later (August 2025), brown stains appeared on the porch ceiling. When it rained, brown water poured from the gutters. I contacted the manager again, but he did not respond. The next week, a team member came while we were not home and painted over the porch wood, but this did not fix the stains or the underlying problem. Overall, the initial process and communication would be a 5/5, but the quality of the work and follow-through would be closer to a 3/5.

Background: The credit for green energy was ending in 2025, and I had always wanted to reinsulate my home because it was so cold in winter and super hot in summer. I went through many different companies and seeing how people felt about them, and I saw a lot of horror stories. I called up a few companies and found out that insulation is kind of like roofing, where a sales person and a tech comes, where the tech looks around and the sales person tries to scare you into using their company right then. They might say something like "your attic is super hot" (that's normal, well, up to a point), or "we'll give you a special deal if you say yes right now". Just kind of shady stuff overall. One big thing that people mention is that while insulation is good, you need to airseal your attic as well - this was another thing I was looking to get done. Initial Meeting: So I was kind of expecting that when I called Attic Professional. Fortunately, that was not the case at all! From other reviews you might have figured that the owner, Bryan, is incredibly respectful and treats customers well. I got to experience that as well. One thing I was surprised at is he had inside shoes (the kind you see in Japan) and put them on and off when walking around the house. He went up into my attic and really dug around to look for issues like pests or mold (besides the poor insulation layers). We went around the home together to look for clogged vents. He didn't try to sell me on anything - I remember reading one review that said he didn't try to sell them things they didn't need, and that was my experience too. He said they could put more insulation in on my existing one, or take out the old one and put new one in; but neither would have a substantial difference. I went ahead and asked him to remove the old insulation and put new insulation in just for cleanliness. I even later changed my mind and asked for a custom insulation scheme - some fiberglass batting and mostly blown-in, and he had no problem accommodating that. Oh, and they would include airsealing gaps in the attic with fire resistant foam! Reinsulation: A few weeks later, he and his team brought his truck up to my house. They covered many surfaces with plastic drop cloth to prevent insulation from flying around - they taped doorways so I could come through, and they taped cardboard to corners in the house so their insulation blower tube wouldn't cause damage. They put canvas drop cloths on the floors to protect them. There was a bit of fiberglass and debris around after, but it was very, very minor. I understand how difficult it is to be flawless with cleanup, but these guys were very good. The work was smooth and quick - only a few hours. I didn't have to add much input and the team was in and out. Bryan left for another site for an hour or so, but everyone was just as respectful as Bryan, and they told me he was a very good person to work for. Always nice to see that the employees have a good opinion of the company as well. One thing that I thought was interesting is after they removed all the previous insulation, they let me look at the attic and see how they stapled their measuring tapes. Apparently, some insulation companies will scam their customers and fold up their measuring tapes so it shows more insulation than what's actually in there. I was able to verify myself that all the measuring tapes were correct. Bryan and I did a final check on the attic together and I was very happy. Above and beyond: A month or so later, I was very curious about the insulation and really wanted to optimize the house, so I got one of those FLIR guns (temperature sensor guns) to see if the attic was perfectly insulated. As expected there were a few spots that had a bit of uneven insulation (after all, nobody's perfect), but for the most part everything was good. I sent Bryan a text about these spots, and he immediately he and his crew to come add some more insulation and pack it in. Now everything on the camera looks great. I think it's pretty rare to find such attention to quality, and I was very impressed. Results: In the San Diego weather by home would average 63 degrees when outside it was around 48. Now, the house never drops below 68, and it averages around 72 year round. When it's 85 degrees outside, it might be 76-78 inside. I've seen the temperature inside crack 80 maybe twice in the last year, and never seen it below 65. This is with no heater, no AC running EVER. So TLDR: I would completely recommend using Attic Professional for your insulation. Take a look at their price, but I find their quality far outshines anything I've seen, and I think I got a steal of a deal (with the now-removed credit sadly).

Johnson Solar just completed my solar panel Installation project about two months ago. About nine years ago, I had a couple of estimates for installing solar panels on my roof. The average cost was approximately $24,000.00 for 20 panels. The price was too high for me, so I did not have the work done. Last May, my friend in Alpine had solar panels placed on his roof. I decided to check into having the work performed on my home. I checked with four different companies. The number of panels was from 11 to 15. The price was within $4,000.00 among the four companies' bids. One of the companies was a referral from another friend who had just recently had solar placed on his roof. That Company was Johnson Solar. They had the best panels, in my opinion, and the best price. After talking to some of my neighbors, I determined that my panels are generating more KW than theirs are. From the quote to the system turn on, it was less than three weeks. It took one day for the installation, and you would never have known the crew was there. I did keep them well hydrated with water and Gatorade. Considering I am on a fixed retirement income, today was a joyful day when I received my SDGE bill in the mail. This bill was covered by 100% solar. The bill read, "No payment is due. Your account has a credit balance of" over one hundred dollars. (My words) My normal bill, this time of the year would have been between $200.00 and $300.00 for a 2000 square foot home. Overall this has been a huge positive investment. I would highly recommend Johnson Solar to anyone who wants to make that move to solar. I would award Johnson Solar five stars plus. Their work crews and office people are the best. read more

Clinton was recommended to me by a friend, who knew many happy customers among his coworkers. I really couldn't be more happy with the overall experience. I reached out to Clinton by email on a weekend, and that night he responded. After looking at my past energy usage and doing a cursory review of my home on googlemaps, Clinton came out and did a site visit the very next day. He made a simple recommendation on roof maintenance, which I decided to take only after doing my due diligence and research. After agreeing on the size of the system, I was ready to move forward with the installation. Clinton took care of the permit requirement, pointed me in a good direction when I was looking into financing, and was on site for the actual installation. I was impressed with how involved he was in every facet of the work, from initial site visit to actual installation and final wiring of the unit and Electric panel. Furthermore, he was very responsive and professional, answering questions whether by phone or by email in a direct and efficient manner. I have been involved in the Construction industry for over 30 years, and my initial intuition with him proved correct- he is a trust worthy guy, who will do what he says without trying to up-sell his customers. In addition, Johnson Solar is one of the few companies that will actually list their prices, enabling a prospective client to research and assess the value of the system. We had our solar electricity system installed by Clint Johnson in September 2018. We purchased our mid-century modern home in May 2018. My wife and I were excited to start restoring the "Rockin' H Ranch" to its 1961 glory. On the month that our SDGE electric bill climber to over $800 (GRRRR!!!) we decided it was time to bring the ranch into the 21st Century by going solar. After the installation of our system, the bill has virtually gone to zero! Clint spent two hours with us during our initial meeting to insure that we fully understood the available options in the solar market. Clint explained the difference between high end name brand panels and the more economical manufacturers, calculating kilowatts of power requirements, battery vs. no battery, etc. Clint provided the options and allowed us to make our decisions, no hype, no up-sell, no pressure, NO PROBLEM. The system was installed by Clint's team of professionals in a very timely manner and it looks great. In addition to the solar system, Clint provided us with an updated electrical panel at about two thirds the cost of other electricians we received quotes from. Our turn-key system from Clint has proved to be economical and effective. One word of caution; make sure you are ready for action when you put Clint to work. From initial deposit to feeding electricity back to the grid for credit took about two weeks! To say that we are extremely pleased with Johnson Solar would be an understatement. read more

Clinton Johnson, the owner of the company, met with us three times to review various systems, their pricing, and warranties. Based on the information provided, we decided to install 12kw System, With Solar Edge Inverter & Solar World Modules. Clinton was involved with the project from start by giving us a price quotation and the installation schedule. He never tried to upsell any unnecessary features. The installation was smooth with no issues. The crew arrived on time and was friendly, tidy, and fast. Clinton Johnson, himself, was also part of the installation crew. What else can is say about Clinton's team at Johnson Solar other than they are the freaking best!! Ill try to keep this short.... We had another company lined up to get our brand new solar installed that 100% dropped the ball. With the clock ticking on the tax rebate coming up we need our system installed NOW!! After a couple conversations and bit of back n forth on invoice I knew Clinton, Ross and his team were the guys I could trust to get the job done in time. Once contract was signed, we paid the 1st part of the invoice and was surprised to see the team at our house 3 days later with a truck full of panels and our Tesla Powerwall3!! Even more surprising was the fact these guys installed an entire 10kw system with conduit and powerwall in 1 day! So mind blown that one morning we were on the grid and later that day we were free of SDGE....WIN WIN!! Now....we are 8 days post install. The system has gotten approved and has its Permit to Operate! We have imported about $1.50 in power in over a week. We have exported about $3 in power in the same time. I found Johnson Solar through ProReferral.com. Wanted to have an attic gable fan and a garage fan installed. This was a minor job considering Johnson *Solar* is in the business of installing complete residential solar power systems but Clinton, the owner, responded within an hour of my ProReferral query to offer his services. I'm a professional engineer in the defense industry and we were able to talk a lot of technical details. He is very knowledgeable and was more than happy to discuss various installation options. Clint Johnson is the man! I researched panels for about 2yrs and shopped around for solar companies for MONTHS. I talked to all the best people, found all the best panels, and got all the best prices. I negotiated one company down by $6k but Johnson Solar was STILL $2500 cheaper...and his panels were actually better. He put on an 8.5 kW system and it has been producing perfectly ever since. Roof handled the heavy rains no problem. My bother, Josh, is an electrician for 16years (a good one too) and HE said Clint did a perfect job - Josh doesn't say that about anybody!! Lol! Clint is a great guy. Honest. Fair. Ex-military. Just a great hard-working all American dude. We had a power outage about a week ago and he texted me THAT day to see how things are going. System is a BEAST!! Dropped my bill by $800 bucks from Aug to Sept 2022. Im In Orange County SCE. Utility prices keep rising and now I'm pretty well locked in. First power bill just came and it was $31, down from $850!!! Clint and team were on point and knocked it out quickly and efficiently. I had bids from 2 large, national installers who wanted 20% more, and wouldnt be able to turn on the system until December. If you are a big power user like me (3 Tesla's, blah, blah) my ROI is about 25% after the tax credit, AND I am not subject to heavy future price increases (think inflation is now at 8%!!!), so my ROI will go up every year they increase utility rates. A near no-risk investment with a 20%+ ROI, indexed to inflation (so to speak). Best safe investment around!!! read more

Clinton installed 16 rooftop solar panels (4.8 kW) for me in Aug 2017. I had received bids from 2 other solar companies and decided to go with Clinton. He will analyze your electricity usage and recommend a system that fits your needs. My panels were delivered on a Monday and I went "live" with SDGE on Saturday! He took care of all the paperwork, permits, and was on site when the inspector came to clear the installation for activation. I am VERY pleased with his work and professionalism! We could not be happier with Clinton. He is professional, and conscientious. His bid was significantly lower than other bids, and we OWN our system. No lease. He installed it and walked us through the process. He stands behind his work and had been wonderful. Our electric bill was negative for the year! Anytime I call him with questions he gets back to me super fast, the same day if not within an hour. I recently had a problem with a third of my panels and he was at my door within hours. Clinton is a pleasure to work with, and easy to talk to. After talking with and getting several bids, I knew I'd found my contractor after talking with Clinton. He was able to give me a great price, and gives straight talk that is easy to follow and understand. I threw him a lot of concerns and made him jump through many hoops. I kept expecting him to start getting testy with my barage of questions, but it never seemed to faze him, he always got me the answers I needed. In the end I have a great 9.8 KW system install and I'm well on my way to my first year of not paying $500 to over $600 a month to SDG&E. I highly recommend Johnson Solar! read more

Called on recommendation of neighbor. After meeting with Clinton did not even consider anyone else. He helped with the roofers. He gave me a price and schedule that was met. Any time I called or texted he responded very quickly. The system was installed last Nov. I called Clinton last month with a problem, not even sure it was his problem. He came out, determined the problem,(still not sure it was his), had to come back with a part and only charged me for the part. My husband Dale found this amazing person and company right before he passed away from COVID, Clinton called by chance two weeks after he passed and helped him fix the system at his home after his death that was installed by another company that went out of business. Then he came and added 6 panels to my home, and then fixed the original system at my home that was also broke and was installed by another company. Johnson Solar beat all competitors by $4000. Not to mention, they installed my panels in 1 day and it only took 3 days until my service was turned on by SDG&E. I recommended them to all my neighbors and 2 of them also got their solar installed with the same fast installation and activated service by SDG&E. Two of my neighbors went with other companies and it took 6 weeks for their systems to get activated. Wow! Great customer service. They did not install my system and due to type equipment, they felt they could not come out. But, Clinton spent a ton of time with me giving me suggestions on what I can do to fix my system. BTW, I designed and installed my own system. Unbelievable the customer service. Clinton Johnson the owner of Johnson Solar gets my vote !00%. We needed to install the solar system before the rate change by SDG&E took place & Johnson Solar got the job done in two days. We now pay Zero dollars on our electric bill, which was up to as much as $800 / month. Johnson Solar is extremely professional & Clinton Johnson is right there with his workers getting the job done right.
