I went to Johnson Computers after reading some great reviews here. A cloud based storage site, namely SugarSync, disappeared 6 months of data from my computer, and after trying everything I could think of to get it back, including a System Restore, I decided I had to try Johnson Computer. If they could find it, great, if not, then I could get on with my life. Sure enough, the data was completely gone. Nothing I can do about it. Jane was able to help correct the path to MyDocuments file that had been changed with I did a system restore on my own. She charged me $35 for the diagnostic and wouldn't let me pay anymore. The next day, after realizing that I didn't know how to copy, or "Rip" a CD into Windows Media (CD's just started playing when I inserted them, and there was no option for "Rip"ing). So back I went to Jane who intuitively knew how to make it work in one little right click that nothing in Windows help mentioned. She still wouldn't let me pay her. I felt as stupid as a sack of scissors, and she reassured me that right clicking the tray was just intuitive. She'd never ripped a CD into media herself. Needless to say, I will eventually find something I can take to her that she'll let me pay her for. And she's right down the street from me! Wish I'd known about her a long time ago. read more

He spent a great deal of time on it and just couldn't figure out what was wrong with it--it started then the next day, nothing. We took it to Johnson Computers (even though we live in Danville and there are places closer to us), and Jane fixed it in just a few hours. She was SO efficient--my son is happy as a clam which is saying a lot since he's a high school student! So I had someone look at my computer in Southern California and gave me an estimate of $100 including a new keyboard for my Lenovo Think Pad but I didn't have time to get it fixed so I brought it up here. I forgot her name but I explained the situation and said regardless of my previous quote she needs to inspect it and charge me for that. Even thought I thought I knew what's wrong I said ok and left to wait in my car, where I suppose she sees me and calls to tell me it's going to be awhile and to leave. So I leave, she calls me back 20 minutes later (as I am already about 20 minutes away hence why I didn't leave) and tells me to come back. I get back she to tells me exactly what I total her from the beginning and tells me to order the keyboard and it's going to be $150 for just labor. Order the part, drop it off, get it back, and she says now it's $185 plus my $35 inspection. I pay and go on my way only to find that keyboard is having the same problem!! It works once and awhile so I didn't notice at first but I bring it back and explains and she tells me there is nothing she can do. So she did absolutely nothing and then tells me there is nothing she can do (because the problem I had for a week and a half happen to working for five seconds #WorstLuckEver and basically to leave. So I paid $220 for 6 trips to her store and nothing to be fixed whatsoever. read more

They worked really quick for me, I had two USB ports that needed to be fixed. took like an hour or two total. Costed 135.0 Total. Very good experience working with Jane and Leo. I took my X1 Carbon 3rd generation to them for repair of DC power jack which is soldered on the board. The jack looks like a complex component to solder (30 pins). I am pleased to say they Jane's team did a great job and my premium expensive laptop is back up and running. Please don't close down . . . Next to Apple, you guys are about as great as it gets. Brought my son's Mac Pro in and they were absolutely awesome in getting it done right. Originally, I took it to the old (Palo Alto) "We Fix Macs" place (We Fix closed down) and the people there said it was probably a Power Source problem . . . Okay, I said please fix it. The next day, the guy there said he didn't get a chance to open it and not sure when he'll be able to fix it. I came all the way from Newark!! Took it to Johnson and it took them 1 hour to tell me the exact problem (they really did a diagnostic on it) and checked everything else (motherboard, memory, HD, etc). I knew it was going to be a couple of hundred dollars to fix but the machine works great and we couldn't be happier. I believe the person's name is Mae and she's is great. Could not be happier. Took my Mac to Geek Squad and the guy there run some diagnostics. All he did was point out that the hard drive could not be read and that he would need it to send my device to Apple where they will probably take weeks to complete hard drive work and charge $500. He referred to me Jonson Computers, and within hours they knew the root of the problem. Hard drive work was not needed after all; all it was it as a faulty component connecting to the hard drive. I took my Mac laptop to be repaired for a cracked screen. They charged me $35 to diagnose the problem within an hr. Shortly afterwards she repaired my laptop and was done quickly and efficiently. I'm mostly only writing this to call out "Brad M." for insinuating that "something must be going on" with the five star reviews because he's probably lying about a cracked screen hoping to get it replaced for free and his scam didn't work so he's punishing Jane the only we he knows how. I've never met Jane face to face but used to talk to her on the phone semi-regularly. I worked at a different computer repair place, we didn't do component level repair on laptop motherboards so when we had to do that we sent it to Jane. Her work was always top notch, she was a great resource for us to have and her prices were reasonable. Here is some free advice for people like Brad. On your work order at ANY computer repair place made sure they note what is and isn't damaged, that way when you pick it up you can say "see, my work order says screen is OK." That's what we did and guess what, no one accused of breaking anything because they signed off on the exact condition of the computer when they dropped it off. Funny how that works. Now I work for a large organization doing support but if I ever need a motherboard or other PCB repaired I'll definitely send it in to Jane. read more

My computer had a motherboard issue and only they could fix it. This is the rare type of electronic repair shop that does component level fixes. That means they will sit with a voltmeter and check the components in your motherboard, and solder anything that needs fixing. After seeing what they can do I would trust them with anything from broken screens to data recovery from usb drives. read more

I walked in at Johnson Computers after my desktop crashed all of a sudden (it turns out that the motherboard was burned).I was provided with options on whether I should extract the data or attempt to replace the motherboard. I needed to reinstall Windows 10 on my Dell laptop as it not booting. They completed the job in a couple of hours and for an additional small charge cleaned and removed the dirt, dust and grime from the insides of the 10 year old laptop. So I went here about a week ago because my USB port became dislodged and I tried to fix it myself but I only made matters worse and ended up breaking my mouse pad. I didn't call ahead and I stopped by after work on a Saturday around 1. Jane greeted me, had me fill out a form and then asked me about my problem. I told her and she said to leave it with her and she would call me with a quote after they had taken a look at it. She said maybe Monday I'd get it back. I paid the fee and left. Not even an hour later she called with a quote to fix my original problem and my mistake. Shortly after that she called again and said everything was fixed and I could pick it up before they closed. I went back right after the call and she let me look at what they had done and make sure I was satisfied. My ports were back in place, my mouse pad was working and best of all my laptop was clean! The fee I paid was put toward the total cost of repairs and the price was great too. It was a third of what I would have spent at other places I looked at! I went in today because the fan/dvd player was broken. I run my business off of my laptop and needed it back asap.
