I do enjoy the pizza here when I'm in the Norwalk area but last night I had one of the worst customer experiences I've ever had. The young woman working the counter on Saturday night found my pizza when I arrived then asked if I had paid for it. I said I had paid online. She looked at me and said" no you didn't". I was dumbfounded by this response . I said- "let me go to my car and get my phone". When I returned I showed my phone to her with the paid screen. She looked and said ok and finally gave me the pizza. I told her she had terrible customer service and I Would never return. She said nothing. No apology for her rudeness or for her being clearly in the wrong about payment. No customer deserves this kind of behaviour! read more

I guess I should have stuck to pizza. Why is there lettuce in the minestrone soup? I can understand spinach or cabbage it looks like spring mix! The broth had a very metallic flavor and it was mostly beans and pasta (barely any other veggies). Would not order sad soup from here again. read more

We recently got served about 7 pounds of warm bread ... pizza bread. Dough is good ... but this is a one and done for us. WE love our grandmas pizzas ... we tried a new spot. Failed. Barely ANY cheese, sauce and ZERO garlic flavor. There may have been 3 entire leaves of basil thinly sliced on both pies together .... STOP DOING BUY ONE GET ONE AND JUST MAKE ONE GOOD PIZZA. We ordered stuffed shells, garlic bread and chicken tenders w/ fries. The stuffed shells were very tasty and really hot upon delivery!, which was wonderful. The Garlic bread had a crunch to it but also soft and good. Unfortunately the Chicken tenders were not tender or even shaped like chicken tenders. One was a rectangle, one was roundish and the other looked like sorta like a piece of chicken. They were dry,hard as a rock, I used a knife to cut them and the meat was cooked out of them! Just ordered thru uber eats. Took an extra 25 minutes for my uber driver to pick up the order after she arrived. She arrived at 9:45 and the order wasn't ready.... even though the ticket that was printed and stapled on the bag said the order had been sent to the kitchen at 9:04. The ticket was very clearly manually entered into their system, because my name is spelled wrong, was submitted 3 minutes after I placed the order with uber & my card was charged, and the ticket was missing items. (Order #72, in case a manager reads this ) Ordered a hot oil with hot peppers. Got a plain cheese pizza instead. My clams casino pizza arrived with no white sauce, and was cold. Had to reheat it in the oven. Didn't get the salad that I ordered with my penne, and didn't get the gatorade I ordered. They very clearly tried to close their restaurant down early and missed the ticket. Fine- I work in the industry, I get it. You had a slow night and my order didn't go in before you decided to shut down. Next time just call me and let me know you "closed early" so I can order from somewhere else, instead of making me wait over an hour for half of the subpar food I ordered. read more

One of my guests bit into a single edged razor blade in the pizza I'd ordered last night fromJohns Best Pizza on Westport Ave in Norwalk. I called the restaurant immediately and the guy said "we don't have razors in our restaurant. Not sure how it could have gotten there". I asked him if he was implying that I put it there and he didn't believe me. He said "no I believe you but we don't have razor blades. Maybe it came in from the vegetables". And his offer was to make us another pie. No apologies. No OMG. No asking if anyone was hurt. I sent a follow email last evening to the manager as well but have yet to hear back. There is nothing more disappointing than fasting for the entire day.. getting home to ordered food that is COMPLETELY WRONG! The salad that was ordered was supposed to be arugula I received two small garden salad. I ordered penne a la vodka with shrimp that came with a side salad and bread. I received two large chunks of bread (the only thing I could eat) and a large CHICKEN Caesar salad (when I can not have meat). The penne a la vodka was not vodka sauce it was RAGU AND NOODLES! We recently moved to Norwalk from Stamford and have been trying to find the best pizza place. John's Best got a lot of recommendations from a moms in a FB group I'm in so we decided to try them out. Typically we order a cheese pizza for the kids and a margherita pizza for my husband and I. Almost all of the pizzerias we tried in Stamford were great. They had their differences but they all had pretty good pizza. I've learned that in Norwalk delivery takes forever. So I ordered our pizza early - around 4:15pm. Our pizza arrived a little after 5pm and the box was cold. Like it wasn't sitting in one of those food warmer bags. Already this was a bad sign. The cheese pizza looked great. It reminded of the pizza I grew up with in Brooklyn. But after grabbing a slice you could tell immediately the bottom of the pizza was burnt. Not just a little black - like enough where it tastes burnt. The margherita pizza was a disaster. I've never seen a pizza with so much sauce and barely any chunks of cheese. I wish I would have taken a picture of it. I tried to grab a slice to try it (even though I'm not a fan of overly saucy pizzas) but could barely lift it. The amount of sauce on the pizza made the dough so mushy that the pizza was literally falling apart. It was so wet from the tomatoes and tomato sauce that it didn't even look like the entire middle of the pizza was even cooked! I tried to lift a second piece - thinking maybe it was just that one slice - nope! They were all like that. I closed the box and never even attempted to eat it. You would think by ordering early they would have had the ability to take their time prepping our pizza the right way, but I guess whoever was making them that day just didn't care. I never imagined finding a pizzeria would be this difficult. I mean, I'm not even that picky (I don't mind a papa Johns pizza every once in awhile!). But their margherita pizza was the worst margherita pizza I've ever seen. Completely inedible. Their cheese pizza has potential, if they can manage not to burn it. I may try them one more time to see if they can get the cheese right. But I'll never order a margherita pizza there again. read more

I called because they messed up half of my order, leaving off extra toppings that I paid more for. When I called, the person I spoke to said they would give me a "credit" without even asking for my information and then proceeded to yell "Happy Thanksgiving" at me in an increasingly loud voice until he was basically screaming in my ear in a manner that could only be described as very sarcastic and rude. It was completely uncalled for and unprofessional. It's fine to mess up an order, but don't then treat your customers like dirt when they call to rectify your error. Look elsewhere. read more

I mistakenly ordered through the wrong John's Best when using Slice and both John's Best locations wouldn't work with me to transfer the order. I was 45 minutes away from the location that received my order, while the one I physically showed up in refused to accept the order. Slice wouldn't reverse the order either or credit me the $45. I made the mistake, but I'm shocked how easily it could have been fixed, but wasn't. I had Johns Best this weekend at a catered event. First I would like to say that the food arrived on time with clear care. The employee (Lydia) was very kind to all the guests. The food at the event included chicken Park, stuffed shells, chicken scarpariello, and meatballs. Each entree was genuinely delicious and made properly. It was amazing to me that this food was made so well, delivered, catered, and served while still tasting 10/10 fantastic. I personally loved the chicken Parm and could say it's possibly one of the best I've ever had. I've had food from here many times and it has always been great. TRAUMATIZZA - I get it, bad yelp reviews are a way to work out minor, sometimes major traumas that occur often before you ever even take a bite. And while I could start with the brash man who took my order, claiming I would receive it in 30-45 min, or the fact that it actually took over an hour...the real trauma occurred when the blockhead bible-blabbing driver hit my neighbors' dog when he left. Fortunately, it was low speed and the dog was young and bounced back up - but horrendous nonetheless. My boyfriend & myself stayed at the doubletree hotel witch is not that far from Johns , it was pretty late been driving for hours & decided to order pizza from this location .. when we received the pizza and lift one slice to eat we notice the bottom of the pizza BURNED and soggy also cold . We called the manager asked for a re make he told us we are closed to come back next morning when they were open witch we did ! Once arriving & speaking to Sammy he was very defensive & asked us "what he wanted us to do" for one if your running a place of business you should know what to do immediately.. So sad that this place has never lived up to the New Cannan location. I noticed this location on Westport Ave has gone down hill from the day it opened. A year ago, I ordered the pasta it was mushy. It had been pre cooked and warmed up again. The sauce tasted horrible. The meal went into the garbage. I had not been back. Until last week...I thought I should give them another try. Remembering the pasta issue I ordered cheese ravioli. Another bad choice...the sauce was orange and obviously frozen. The ravioli was horrible. John must be rolling in his grave. This is one of the most reliable pizza go-to's in the area. They've been around for a long time, moves locations a few times too, but the end product hasn't changed, it's excellent.
