Big Johnny

First time here, came based on reviews and man it didn't disappoint I got the big johnny. Brisket, pickles, mustard, bbq sauce, onions and chilies. It's a heart sammich and so freaking good. Brisket is tender and super flavorful had a mild smokey taste, the bbq sauce was pretty damn amazing. Mildly sweet had a nice tang and savor taste to it. I woulda drank this out the bottle. I got here just before the crowd started rolling in. I can see why they've been around since 1955. I'll be back to check the reat of the menu out.

Wow! We drove from Arizona today to do some shopping and check this place out! Absolutely worth the drive! Lola was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!! We got the Big Johnny and a regular Johnny. Barely able to finish the Big Johnny it was so much meat! The bread was toasted and so tasty! We absolutely will be back!

Finished the plate

Food was awesome! Great home cooking flavors. The coleslaw was a unique wonderful treat. Very friendly.

Small with several tables, friendly staff

We have been wanting to stop here for a while. They are located in a small plaza on Doniphan. Stopped on a Saturday for lunch. The staff was very friendly. They obviously have regulars that eat here as the staff knew several clients that walked in. Service was fast which is always great at a barbecue place. Ribs are served only on Saturday. We each had the 1/2 slab of rib plate with two sides. We ordered the chili beans and cole slaw. The ribs were mouth watering, fall off the bone tasty, and so did not need any barbecue sauce. My husband ate his with barbecue sauce and said the sauce was not sweet and was a great brisket sauce and not a Kansas City sauce. The chili beans were the best I've eaten. They were cooked with ground meat and not spicy. The cole slaw was tasty and had chunks of pineapple. Normally, we do not like pineapple in our cole slaw, but didn't realize it until 1/2 the slaw was eaten. It did not make the slaw sweet. Other than my husband's ribs, these are the best I've eaten in El Paso. We'll be back. Can't wait to go back!

The meat was delicious but the bar b q was too runny. The sides were good. Needs more variety. Staff friendly

Thick slices with a beautiful smoke ring, deep flavor, and that perfect balance of tenderness and structure. It was juicy without being greasy, and the bark had just the right bite. The brisket sandwich was equally satisfying. Simple, honest, and generous, with crisp onions and a soft bun that let the meat shine. The ribs had great flavor, but were a bit on the dry side during this visit. Still enjoyable, but the brisket definitely stole the show. Sides were a mix. The green beans were outstanding. Easily some of the best I've had at a barbecue spot. Full of flavor and clearly cooked with care. The beans and cornbread were solid and comforting. The coleslaw, though, didn't quite stand out and was the only item I'd probably skip next time. The space itself adds to the experience. Open, casual, and unpretentious. It feels like a place focused on doing barbecue right rather than trying to be trendy. FYI: You order first & they bring out the food to you. Overall, Hallelujah BBQ is absolutely worth visiting, especially for the brisket and those green beans. I'll definitely be back.

There were crumbs on our table. I also noticed a dog in the booth next to us, I think it belonged to staff. Call me old school but I didn't grow up with animals where I eat so that was interesting. He was a super good doggie though. The service was great, fast, and food was fabulous. I had the $19 Poke Bowl. I ordered before I noticed the price. Yikes! I had that, a water, and their fried oreos (to go), for a total of $26, after tip. Yikes! Not sure I can afford that again unless I do appetizer only.

As a regular meat eater, it's not necessarily the type of restaurant I would be attracted to but the service & meal was very pleasant. Jake was on point with his service & recommended the daily specials - which included the "meat"ball sub sandwich with salad. I also opted in for the Mac & Cheese appetizer because it sounded great. Ordered a manzanita drink (drink selection is a little different than many other restaurants). The Mac & Cheese appetizer was delicious! Actually, my favorite part of the meal! The sub sandwich came with a simple green salad that was a nice combo. The sandwich bread was soft & warm and included meatballs covered in sauce & melted cheese. Not bad at all but due to my own personal preference the meatballs weren't my personal favorite. In the future, I think I'll lean toward options that don't feature "meat" because of my preference but for those who look for or prefer vegan options, go visit Jake & check out this new downtown El Paso eatery!

The dishes were very well made, as if the owners were preparing them for themselves. We could tell a lot of care went into preparing them. I ordered Gom Bibim. The dish was visually pleasing and delicious. The flavor of the noodles was light. Often, the noodles in bibim kooksoo are drenched in sauce. These were prepared just right. The bedding of mixed greens were very fresh and paired nicely with the spicy noodles. My daughter ordered Gom Tang. The dish was good. The broth was a bit saltier than the traditional gom tang. She said that the egg was good. My sister-in-law ordered Gom Ramen. She said that it hit the spot. Delicious! We also ordered mandoo. They were served with a light kochojang sauce, and were hot and crispy. I highly recommend this restaurant. We are in town for the BTS concert. We regret that we will probably never get to eat here again.

Food was prepped quickly and I can't see any differences of spicy noodle between here and Korea. The egg inside of spicy noodle wasn't just regular boiled egg, it was soy sauce marinated egg with beef the same as well. I can see that owner has a high pride and explaining very well on each food on the wall. Happy to find this place and hopefully they will be prosperous here for a while!! Thanks for serving me! 잘먹고 갑니다!
