However this was a first time I was actually really let down…read more So I visited this truck with my wife and family at the pop the fort concert yesterday and besides having to stand in line for what seemed forever I wasn't to worried of what I was going to be tasting. Takorexico specializes in what seems to be an Asian infused style of Mexican comfort food, tacos. In all my life I was convinced that the hardest thing to accomplish was a way to ruin tacos. I mean I've had straight up potato tacos and those rocked more than what I had last night . I had the Kalbi Asada Tako which had seared Bulgogi steak and a Jamaican pear slaw. It was ok. It sorta lacked flavor and the slaw was way too overpowering for the beef they used. The beef itself was seasoned very little and the beef had no flavor as well. Over all if all their tacos tasted like that then I probably won't be visiting again. If it was just an off night maybe I'll go back for seconds. Oh! And they had run out of fish and corn as part of their menu. So a limited menu was a culprit too.

Instead, I got an order of mediocre tacos. One star may be a little harsh, but 2 stars seems to be a little too much. The price? $3 per taco. $8 for 3. $11 for 5. The tacos were small-ish, single corn tortilla, street tacos. A little pricey, but if the quality was good, I would be be OK with the price. Problem was, the tacos were bad. Overall, the sauces and accompaniments for the tacos were all good. The flavors were good. The protein on the taco was just not cooked well. Basically, bad execution of some potentially good ideas The tortillas felt like they may as well have been store-bought and put into the microwave. No chew to the tortilla at all, and not really warmed up. When you make bulgogi, you need to have something in the marinade to tenderize the meat (Asian pear, kiwi, pineapple, and/or Sprite tend to be the standard choices). Otherwise, you end up with a tough meat. The beef in the tacos was tough, stringy. Seasoned well. But terribly cooked meat. The pork was a cooked a little better than the beef, but nothing to write home about. But the worst offense was the fish. If you fry off fish early, and then leave it there, and then put it on a taco, you end up with cold, greasy, soggy mush. Someone has to step in there and realize that they're serving crap food, but unfortunately, no one did.

They delivered out-of-this world brisket and pulled pork. It was delicious! I recommend them without reservation or one single hesitation! We will most definitely be hiring them again!

I think that OTG is a pretty good food truck that serves BBQ-based items and I'm not rating it compared to sit-down BBQ restaurants; you shouldn't expect it to be an alternative to places like State Line or Famous Dave's. Their menu is pretty straightforward, mostly sandwiches or tacos made with one or more of their BBQ meats, but their most popular item, and the one they recommend, is the Pulled Pork Cheese Fries, they had me at "Pulled." I really liked them, the fries golden soft (which I prefer), not crispy fried and they are pretty decent size, none of that thin fry crap, they have lots of cheese and mixed with the BBQ sauce it makes for a nice tangy flavor. Because I have no self-control, I also ordered the sausage bites, which I found out is their second most popular item. It's a plate of sliced sausage drenched in BBQ sauce, which for the record I did share with another person. We weren't blown away by them, but they were okay, I'm just really picky about the sausages I put in my mouth. I would definitely recommend getting the fries over the bites if you are a normal person that only orders one thing. I do have to mention that the OTG folks were very friendly and personable, though there was a line I didn't feel rushed when it was my time to order, which is not uncommon at food trucks and stands. They were even nice enough to pose my food on the counter while I took photos of it, because I'm that kind of person. I found them at the Chamizal Memorial Park, check their facebook page to find their current location.

It just so happens that I love tasty pizzas and I love America, so naturally I liked RWC. They're a fairly new food truck in town and you can find their current location on their facebook page, I found them at a Food Truck Revolution stop. They make all kinds of pizzas, you can choose your own toppings or pick from one of their special creations, I went the special route, because I'm special. When I asked what they recommended, she asked if I was feeling a little crazy, and suggested I try a BBQ Pulled Pork and Mac & Cheese pizza, and I went for it. We're never going to survive unless we get a little crazy. The crazy pizza was crazy yummy, and logically so: pizza is awesome, pulled pork is awesome, mac & cheese is awesome, and tiny American flags are awesome, it's awesome to the 4th power (the flag adds the flavor of freedom). Pizzas are thin, but not crispy thin crust, which I like, as I prefer a soft crust, they're personal size, but very filling. They have a wide selection of toppings, so the possibilities are pretty endless. They also have other stuff, I ordered some wings because: a. they were on the specials menu and b. this is America, and we eat wings with our pizza, love it or leave it, pal! Wings were alright. Look for them on your next food truckin' adventure!

*Drinking game: Drink every time you read the words "fish and chips"…read more If you know nothing else about me, you should know this...I am 80% comprised of fish and chips. Fish and chips may be my fave thing to eat in the whole entire world and that's not an exaggeration...you can take that to the bank. Seriously, if a place serves up fish and chips, I'm ordering it. Doesn't matter if they're ridiculously fancy and fish and chips is only on their menu as a joke, I'm ordering it and I won't leave until they deliver (not that I've ever seen a place have joke items on a menu...I'm just saying if someone wanted to mess with my emotions that's the way to do it and that's how serious I take my fish and chips). The only thing I've ever had at The Reef Mobile Kitchen is the fish and chips. There's a chance this isn't always on the menu and if it's not, I'm not going. Although I highly doubt fish and chips aren't always on the menu. If you want to know where they're at check out their Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/reeftruck), but it's almost always a safe bet that they'll be at Foodville. So since it's the only thing I can speak on. Scratch that. Write on. Let's delve into the fish and chips. Plump pieces of white fish, I'm guessing cod (much like my beer identifying abilities, my fish identifying abilities are almost nonexistent). Crisp, batter on the outside served along side large fries, a couple of lemon wedges, and tarter sauce. It's all really good and done in-house! You will not regret this. And the truck is easy to spot. Big blue. That's all you need to know. Check it out and definitely check out Isaac M's review for a deets on the Mojo Quesadilla that sounds ridiculously amazing. May have to order that along side some fish and chips next time. And another plus is since it's a food truck you know you're getting a meal under $10.

I first heard of Grama Coco on social media a few months ago. I was curious to check them out after…read moreseeing pics of their food. MMM, the photos looked delicious! Don't you just love that? I do! Their food also looks like it's homemade and made by abuela (grandma). Perfect! Their little food trailer is also cute! I'm so glad I was finally able to stop by! When I visited, they were parked outside of Texas Tech on Alberta Avenue. There's usually 3 or 4 food trucks parked there during the week. I always see different food trucks whenever I come to doctors appointments at Texas Tech. Getting to the food... They have a pretty large breakfast and lunch menu. Looking at their social media page, it looks like they add new menu items from time to time. I was in the mood for gorditas so I ordered some. They were thick and delicious! The ground beef was well seasoned and mixed with potatoes. This is exactly how I like my gorditas. No onions in the mix is also a plus! I also like for the gorditas to be corn based rather than flour. They added lots of lettuce, tomato and cheese. Love this too, especially the lots of cheese. They used muenster cheese, which is my favorite especially on tacos, flautas and gorditas...let's just say on pretty much anything I eat. The rice and beans were also tasty and so was their red salsa. The salsa wasn't as spicy as I would've liked it to be but it was still bursting with flavor. Their gordita plate comes with three of them, along with rice and beans. The food smelled SO good in the car so I had to eat a little bit while parked and as I was driving down I-10. Lol. I also ordered chicken tacos. They were pretty good! The chicken was well seasoned. I'm not sure if I liked the tortillas they used. They were ok but I think they were a little bit too chewy. All of the food traveled well. The chicken taco plate included 4 small tacos with rice and beans...also lots of lettuce, tomato and cheese. All of the food was still warm when I got home. Drinks are a separate cost. The service was great! The lady who helped me was nice. I waited about 10 minutes for the food to be cooked. Not bad! I'll have to try food from their breakfast menu soon. I think the prices are reasonable for the quantity of food you're getting. I spent $17 for the two plates I purchased. I also bought a bottle of water and left a small tip. Since their locations change, it's best to follow them on social media. You can find them on Instagram at: @grama.coco or Grama Coco on Facebook. Check them out if you get a chance! There is something for everyone here...burgers, tacos, burritos, pancakes and lots more.
