I had the Old fashioned glazed donuts. It was traditional and sweet. I think the donuts are on the sweeter side and the yeast rise texture to me could have been more textured. Overall I will go back next time I crave for donuts. read more

Situated in a very busy shopping center with insufficient parking, you'll find Johnny's donuts with sign and all just sandwiched between shops and not sticking very far out. Inside, very humble and disappointing with a small 2-side display case. They have all the usual suspects, and are little pricey: $1.60-$3.50 each. However, don't let that deter you. This is simply just not another donut shop. From what I tried, OMG, it's simply the best donut EVER. Beautiful and soft and flavor and not oily cake, with lusciousness filling inside (where applicable). Only the finest ingredients, but these Johnny's donuts are made with master bakers. Todays stop was Johnny's. I have stopped here before and service and donut quality is consistant. I met a friend here for donuts, it has easy parking and had no wait on a Friday around 10am and I was surprised at the variety of donuts still available. They had lots of donuts which tasted fresh. I had a chocolate raised and it might be one of the best donuts I have ever had, and I love donuts. The service was friendly and fast, if you plan to dine in there is only 3 small tables and a counter with about 5 or so stools. First time after getting good reviews from coworkers and finally got the chance to stop by and get to try some donuts. Service was good, they have a good variety of donuts from old fashion to a fluffy ones. It's indeed a small cafe place but very welcoming, is has their own Lafayette clientele which is good and so far what I noticed people asked a lot for the donut holes "which I had the chance to tried" and coffee Donuts are fresh and not too sweet just the right amount of sweetness it's perfect!! The one that truly recommend is the old fashion glazed I was a bit distorted off the maple one and then it one that it kind of twist looking that is pretty good one. Super friendly service here! They have maple bacon, which I haven't seen in the local donut shops in the area. The bacon was crispy and perfectly fried - not over or under. Such a cute hole in the wall doughnut shop! They've updated their hours, and are open on Sunday's now! Their doughnuts are fresh and well made. I went today and got a chocolate doughnut that was fresh and hot when I ate it, so good! They accept cash and credit card for payment as an fyi. The staff was very friendly and prompt. And while driving to the Lafayette Reservoir for a group hike, what should I see but Johnny's Donuts, hidden away among the small shops in an older shopping center. The girl wanted to have one NOW, I suggested we have one after the hike. And, after going around the Lower Trail, we did. Girl: jelly. Hunny: old-fashioned. Yelper: cinnamon roll. We loved them so much. Mine came apart like a spring, showing the caked-on cinnamon on the inside. About 6" wide, nice and thick, and oh so filling. The girl took a bite or two, and said in a surprised tone, "Hey, this is raspberry!" The Hunny, in typical fashion, said "It's good." I think we found another winner among all the donut shops in the 925. Johnny's Donuts is larger than others, with lots of seating going way back. Large selection of donuts, so you're likely to find something you like. And you're likely to love what you get. My eye went to the Christmas card on the wall behind the donuts, said "God Is Love"; I like that! I would not be surprised if this place is filled in the early morning hours. The shift in ownership during the COVID-19 pandemic didn't affect the quality of the donuts (although we did see a shift in the color of the glaze) or the cordial service we've been accustomed to. I came in on Sunday. They are open, and close at 5pm. We were 3 people and got 3 items. They have seating inside. Croissant: they can toast it for you, looks buttery and light. (I didn't try this myself) Chocolate bar: we asked for it to be filled with vanilla creme. Other options that I remember are custard, lemon, raspberry. They slice it across and fill it. I called early Saturday morning to place a pick up order. We wanted to grab something sweet for the fire department as they were taking us on a short ride along today in Menlo Park. I called the order in and the manager was so helpful and guided me through my options and told me they would be fresh and ready when we arrived to pick them up. They were--fresh and ready!!! Donut flavors I ordered: - Raspberry filled: I'm obsessed with jelly donuts so this is what drew me to the store in the first place. - Powder lemon filled: I didn't mean to order 2 jelly filled donuts but the unique combination of jelly, powder, lemon and donuts was to hard pass up. I loved the balance or the sweet and sour filling. - Chocolate raised (best seller): I'm not 100% sure it's called the raised chocolate but the gentleman behind the counter suggested it was the most popular item sold and I can see why. I can't pin the other flavor in this and it might be sour cream, but wouldn't that make this an old fashioned? - Apple fritter - this was massive!
