I cannot say enough good things about this place. First off, the vibes are just amazing. Everyone that was in there was so friendly, kind, and I heard some funny stories along the way! And you can't talk about this place without talking about their adorable dog who I consider their mascot. Secondly, they actually saved me! I had a bad experience elsewhere and they were able to fit me in at the last minute. I'm actually glad the other place fell through because I was meant to come here. Thirdly, my barber Ari was INCREDIBLE! Not only was she so kind, but her attention to detail was off the charts. I came in after 5 years of giving myself haircuts, and walked away feeling like a million bucks. Recently came into Johnny's Barbershop to get my 3 year olds 1st haircut. The shop atmosphere has a cool, laid back, chill vibe to it. Best of all the barbers here have an up beat, fun and engaging energy that makes you want to come back again and again. I called to schedule an appointment for my son and got in immediately. It was my son's first haircut and needless to say he was not thrilled to sit there. Johnny was extremely patient and took the time to consult with me on exactly what I wanted for my son. More importantly he did a great job with an extremely stubborn kid! This was easily one of the best experiences I've had at a barbershop (speaking from experience with an older son). These guys know what they're doing and make the overall experience a great one! I've noticed a few reviews that have stated that they take too long to cut your hair...I guess I'd agree...its always a 30 - 45-minute​ haircut...but why would you complain about the fact that the​​ guys want to do it right and if it takes a bit longer it takes a bit longer... Hair cut was great. I'm a little upset.. the guy charged me $35 for a haircut and said it was quarantine prices. I gave him $40 cause I felt bad... but very misleading. The guys chair was near the tv to the end. I won't return. That was too pricey. read more

My boyfriend and I moved to Seattle from Chicago in June of this year and were desperate to find a barbershop for him to go to. I didn't realize how loyal men are to their barbers, so it did take a bit of digging around to find a place my boyfriend liked. I can't remember how we stumbled upon Johnny's Barbershop, it may have been a referral or a Yelp search, but there had not been a review since 2011 so we were a bit nervous. I mean, the place had a high rating, but a lot could have changed in those years. Fast forward to today, my boyfriend has been going to the barbershop for a few months and is happy with the service. He gets his hair cut by Johnny or the Samoan guy (can't recall his name) but they're both great! A haircut is $25 and they do a nice job! The only complaint would be the length of time it takes to cut. They're on the slower side, much slower side... which knocked the rating down to 3.5 stars. I'd also recommend calling ahead of time and making an appointment. Hopefully this helps the next person so you can have one less thing to worry about! read more

I called them and asked if they take reservations and was there a time tomorrow morning I could get in. The guy said yes, they DO take reservations and there's an opening tomorrow at 10:30. I was suprised when I got there to see 8 or 9 people waiting and both barbers had someone in their chairs. One looked up and said, "about an hour wait at this point." I told him I had an appointment at 10:30. The barbers looked at each other and then one indicated it was okay and I would get right in. So I waited for another 10 minutes or so when one barber finished with his client, looked at me and pointing to another waiting customer and said, "that young man has been waiting a long time. I am doing him first." I smiled and said "that's fine," got up and walked out. Business tip: If you make an appointment, either keep it or don't make appointments at all. The barbers i've been to, lacked people skills, you wouldn't even get a decent conversation with anyone. Not only can Johnny do a great fade, but hes a genuine person who sticks to his word about appointments. I called in advance and was told to arrive in 30 minutes. Having read the reviews I also clicked the online make a reservation link and got a return call from the same person in a few minutes. He took my name that time. When I arrived, the wait was minimal because I'd come during the day on a weekday. I asked when the busy times were: weekends, especially Fridays. Once I was in the chair, Hassan did an outstanding job--determining exactly what I wanted, including who I wanted to please. Then he took his time, using mostly scissors--the tool of the master. He only used the clippers on my beard. He customized his conversation to my interests, too. I'll definitely go back! I'd expected the cut to cost a bit less, given the price rating. But $27 is still quite reasonable, especially for a full 30 minutes of the cutter's time. read more

This is the place to go. All 3 barbers have cut my hair and always very professional. I am a fairly simple cut but I recently missed them and went to Rudy's, won't make that mistake ever again. They are artists that cut hair. The attention to detail and pride comes out every time. Even, clean and the cut I ask for every time. Too busy for them to remember me but the cut always looks the same!! Each time I get out of the chair I say I need to write a review. Finally getting around to it; should be 5 5 star reviews not just 1. Only problem is you better call ahead for weekend appointment; walking in could mean a long wait on Saturdays. I'm a regular here... Rule #1 is this. Always call & make an appointment before you come in. It'll be a lot easier on yourself, because they are very busy. You can walk-in, but the wait is much longer than if you would have called ahead of time. Their cuts are worth your while though. There are three main barbers who cut here, Johnny (owner), Reason, & a third guy who's name I don't remember. Reason cuts my hair, & is one of the best around. He takes his time, & delivers exactly what you ask for in a hair cut. I'm pretty sure Johnny, & the third guy are great too. Simply put...If you want your hair cut done right, come here. If you want a wack hair cut, go somewhere else. This place is better than any other spot in King County, Snohomish, Pierce, or any other county in the NW you can think of to get your hair cut at. People don't lie about the kind of haircut they get. And they especially wouldn't say they got a good one when it really was a bad one. These dudes are that good at what they do. So go try them out. I used to drive (from Greenwood) all the way to Renton to get my hair cut when I discovered this place and decided to go in. The guys are very friendly and they can definitely cut hair! There are 3 barbers, and they cut all types (ethnicities) of hair. I am Black, but I frequently see White, Hispanic, and Asian guys there. It's not the absolute quickest haircut I've gotten, but that's because they take their time to give a really good haircut! I am a believer!! I have tried almost every barbershop in Seattle and by far Johnny's Barbershop is my favorite! Real cool guys in there i don't make it in as much as I use to due to the commute from Federal Way but its worth the wait to get it done right...which brings me to my next issue regarding one comment (Joey W.) How i could best describe Johnny's, its like the exclusive club you always wanted to be a part of except for this club allows everyone to join!! I mean hey..what do you expect? these guys here are some of the best, why would they NOT be busy on a Saturday at 1:30? Come on guy.. I admit when i first visited Johnny's I would hear the same story. "Hey we are booked until tomorrow, but you can wait and see if no one shows up"..even when i would see no one waiting and each chair full, i tried my luck and waited..like clockwork each following appointment for each barber showed up, on time. Now i make apts. These guys are pros. I usually see Johnny the owner of the shop. Some of the funniest things Ive heard, came out of his mouth!! He is a great barber with the gift of gab and he also cuts a few of the Mariners..Ive seen Felix Hernandez in there on one Saturday. ( I bet he had an apointment) If hes busy I go to his right hand man Reason. Yes Reason is his name and he will give you a good reason to come back, cool guy great barber!! ..and if HES busy then i can see Andrew, they have me covered all around.
