Robby's shop falls somewhere in the middle, price-wise, but his work and his partner Madison's are consistently at the top of the list when I get out of the chair and get a look at what they've done. There's never that awkward "oh no, what am I going to do with this?" moment when you see it for the first time. Simply put, their cuts look fabulous, every time. As experiences go, the Colman Barbershop is fun and relaxing. You can go expecting funny adult conversation with a racy edge to it, classic rock on the stereo, a comfortable old-school barbershop chair to sit in, and a phone that rings like a phone, not an electronic tweet. Robby and Madison not only deliver a great cut, they have genuine fun chatting with you and with each other while you're there. And men? Go with the knowledge that you're not quite done when your hair is done. You've got a rare treat in store before you're all the way finished, a back-of-the-neck shave with warm shaving cream and a straight razor, followed up with a warm wet towel. It's a delight for the senses not to be missed, and it feels fantastic afterwards. So. It comes to this: get thee to the Colman Building Barbershop for 45 minutes of entertaining downtime, for good music, for a little nostalgia, and most importantly, for the best haircut you'll ever have. Call me picky, but I won't settle for anything less.

This guy is consistent, skilled & efficient. Extremely gregarious, he's always got a great story or two ready to go. You might have to wait for the guy in front of you, but the conversations you'll take part in before taking your seat on the throne will be well worth your time. He keeps a clean, sanitary shop, so you never have to feel like it's an unpleasant wait here. To be transparent, I'm cursed with fantastic, thick hair; in my 40s, people would give me so much crap about how great it looks - especially my buddies who started shaving their heads in their 20s. It would be a shame not to do something good with a head of hair like this, but it is a pain for any stylist to manage well. Scott has it down to perfection; everytime I go in, I get rave reviews for weeks afterwards! I've been hired at least twice in the past, solely because of a hairstyle that Scott gave me, so I see it as a return on investment! YMMV... This place is old school, so expect your typical barbershop experience - witty banter, waiting in line (because he really IS that awesome, and people come from miles around to stand in line down the street), and the rare occasion where the barber is out for the day. Nothing that can't be overcome for the best hairstyle this side of Boston! If you don't like any of that, find a hair salon; I'm sure they'll have one of those newfangled websites and an app for your phone to get into a queue. Here, they just give out great service and clean cuts. And, I've never waited more than 45 minutes to get my seat in the chair, so any grief about long waits is just whining. Sit back, enjoy the classic decor on the walls, and join in on the conversations.
