They were moist, had a little bit of saltiness to them (I'm guessing from butter), so good even without syrup. On the other hand tho, the egg Benedict was dreadful. The hollandaise sauce seems to be the problem. Literally tasted like hospital food, 0/10 for the Benedict. I would also switch out the Canadian bacon for better quality. I also wish the waiter had been more lively and attentive. Overall I would come back, literally for the pancakes!!

Egg was severely undercooked - the egg white was gelatatinous and the bread way too thick, ham fatty and subpar, where were you Béchamel? I took a bite of my breakfast and he hands me a box at the end when I asked for the check--not asking if anything is wrong. Two bites out of the spring mix salad and sandwich. Bloody Mary full. $70 for a salad, madame croquette, slow service which is no problem. It's a tiny diner and around lunch time. No worries there. But uncomfortable dining service because we could feel the tension between the server and bartender. Again for me? NBD but my daughter did not appreciate this. The good: the Mediterranean salad was delicious according to my daughter. She had the same thoughts about the Bloody Marys. Super cute beer backs- pony miller high life. I brought the croque madame home and my son loved it. Went on and on about how amazing it was. In all fairness my adult kids loved their food. He did microwave it to cook the egg through. Yes I know I am picky because I worked in the restaurant industry for over 22 years. And I can make better food at home. I just expect a bit more if I am going to drop $70 for two lunch entrees and two drinks. Not including the tip. Bottom line: I would not go back for this very expensive diner that doesn't know how to properly cook simple things. Or chop veg. Or make a drink.

(Probably good cuz you gotta work off the calories from those malts...) I actually saw this place advertised on a road sign for eateries to expect on the next exit. Usually those get covered in all the food chains like Taco Bell and junk, so my interest was piqued and I announced my enthusiasm to my hubbie that we try it. DELICIOUS. We arrived on a lovely sunny spring day, so we chose to dine outside on their patio area. The inside had a fun retro cafe aesthetic that I'm sure we'll enjoy during the cooler months at some point too. The staff was incredibly friendly and in a good mood, which added to my own happiness upon arrival. We were seated and given menus to study, and I do mean I had to thoroughly study it. Picking out what I wanted was TOUGH. Everything looked mouth-wateringly good, but I finally settled on the patty melt on the marbled rye with the waffle fries. Excellent choice, and it was so humongous of a portion that I ended up taking half home and reheating it in my air fryer another day. Love that! Hubbie and I shared a large chocolate malt, which they gave us two glasses to pour into. It was also delicious. All the prices seemed pretty reasonable, especially for nowadays the way the economy is. IYKYK. We're already planning the next time we'll be back! Yummy yummy in my tummy!

I asked the waitress if they were normally busy and she said usually weekends. I ordered coffee and biscuits with sausage gravy and eggs. Had a discussion with the waitress about whether they could make basted eggs which she thought they could. Shortly afterward she brought out what appeared at first to be a lovely breakfast. Hash browns came with it. These hash browns were spectacular, hot and wonderful. It pains me to say everything else was ice cold: the eggs, biscuits, the gravy, and the six pieces of sausage thrown on top of the biscuits, with none in the actual sauce. The eggs were perfectly cooked but cold. I really don't understand how things were so cold right out of the kitchen. And, obviously, they don't know how to make biscuits and gravy. I told the waitress that everything was cold except the hash browns and she took a few dollars off my bill. She was lovely. We spoke for a few minutes about the old Lincoln Del where she used to work and where I spent so much time in my youth. I boxed up my leftovers, the waitress gave me coffee to go, and I left. I suspect I won't be eating the leftovers. Do I recommend the Convention Grill? Not for breakfast anyway. But would still go for burgers, fries, and malts. They also have a killer egg salad sandwich!

This was one of the WORST restaurant experiences we've had in such many years…read more When we first walked in, everything seemed fine, hostess was nice and welcoming, but things changed as soon as our waitress came over. From the beginning, she seemed like she just did NOT want to be there. No hello, no welcome, nothing. It was basically just, "What do you want?" We gave her our order and didn't think too much of it at first, but that same attitude continued throughout the entire meal. Every time she brought something to the table, she would basically just drop it off and walk away. SUPER UNFRIENDLY. Now...the food. The mozzarella sticks were okay, but the marinara tasted like a really cheap store-bought sauce. My husband ordered an omelet, which was actually good, and the hash browns were okay too, the pancakes weren't bad either. But the coffee was HORRIBLE. I don't know if it was the beans, the way it was brewed, or what happened, but it was so bad I couldn't even drink it. And somehow the chocolate French silk pie was even worse I took ONE bite and couldn't continue. It had this really greasy, artificial chocolate flavor, almost like you could taste the fat more than the actual chocolate. What made the experience even worse was that the waitress never came back to ask if we were doing okay, if we needed anything, or if we wanted to order something else (Not even once) we actually wanted to order another dish, but she never checked on us. Eventually, we asked for the check. She took our payment, turned around, and walked away without saying anything. We then had to ask for our receipt because she didn't offer one. She grabbed it and TOSSED it onto our table. (No "thank you," no "have a good day," nothing). I don't expect someone to be overly cheerful or constantly checking on us, but basic courtesy goes a long way. At the end if she has personal problems going on she should've known how to separate work from personal life, is either that, or she hate her job.
