This was one of the WORST restaurant experiences we've had in such many years. When we first walked in, everything seemed fine, hostess was nice and welcoming, but things changed as soon as our waitress came over. From the beginning, she seemed like she just did NOT want to be there. No hello, no welcome, nothing. It was basically just, "What do you want?" We gave her our order and didn't think too much of it at first, but that same attitude continued throughout the entire meal. Every time she brought something to the table, she would basically just drop it off and walk away. SUPER UNFRIENDLY. Now...the food. The mozzarella sticks were okay, but the marinara tasted like a really cheap store-bought sauce. My husband ordered an omelet, which was actually good, and the hash browns were okay too, the pancakes weren't bad either. But the coffee was HORRIBLE. I don't know if it was the beans, the way it was brewed, or what happened, but it was so bad I couldn't even drink it. And somehow the chocolate French silk pie was even worse I took ONE bite and couldn't continue. It had this really greasy, artificial chocolate flavor, almost like you could taste the fat more than the actual chocolate. What made the experience even worse was that the waitress never came back to ask if we were doing okay, if we needed anything, or if we wanted to order something else (Not even once) we actually wanted to order another dish, but she never checked on us. Eventually, we asked for the check. She took our payment, turned around, and walked away without saying anything. We then had to ask for our receipt because she didn't offer one. She grabbed it and TOSSED it onto our table. (No "thank you," no "have a good day," nothing). I don't expect someone to be overly cheerful or constantly checking on us, but basic courtesy goes a long way. This place is amazing! I'm obsessed with coming here every time I'm in town. I took my mom here to celebrate her bday! I wanted to get balloons but we had just left a memorial so I didn't have time. I came to town to celebrate death and life all in one trip! Sadly The environment is nice and clean. The seating is too close to the next party and a bit tight to get into if it's busy.. They certainly didn't consider those human who are, not a certain size in frame when adding seating here! The chairs are definitely not BBL friendly for those of you who invested. Respectfully! Just looking out for those humans! Side note: I've once witnessed someone at another table having an issue with comfort which is why I seating into the equation! As far as, for my party, we're good and could fit comfortably into the chairs and tables so that's where " minding my business" falls into place. Service: Service was amazing! This was my first time going to a Perkins in over 10 years. My group was looking for a place to go that was open late (past 1 AM) and this was the only place that was available. The dining floor was really clean and still had the classic look that it had 10 years ago and it took about 10 minutes for them to prepare a table for our group 8 (there were 3 other groups at the time). I was sad to hear that they no longer had a "Late Night Bites" menu since I was necessarily looking for a whole meal but decided to check out the Monte Cristo Pancake Flip. While the others wanted the Magnificent 7. The arrived less than 10 minutes from when we ordered and the food was okay. Our first trip to Minneapolis in quite some time, and our hosts suggested this Perkins, because it was near their home (they are ubiquitous here). I was a little hesitant, because I was hoping for a Somali feast, but at the same time I wanted local MN food, and from what I can gather, Perkins is it!!! I ordered the pot roast (senior special discount) with two veggies, and ..... "tater tots," which I recall from the Walls Campaign for VP! They were amazing! crisp, not greasy, and tasty. I could have order two sides of just the tots (the fresh spinach and asparagus were ok, but not as good as the tots). My pot roast was already diced meat in a dark brown gravy. All of it was fine, what you would expect in a midwstern "american" restaurant, and everyone was in good spirits, because our server was friendly and efficient. From the outside this looks like it would be a nicer, cool location. We went late night after the casino on a Saturday. They are 24/7 which is nice and they even have late night HH deals. The location for the most part was nice. They had some of the areas closed off (probably because it was later at night). I ordered the build your own sampler with chicken tenders, fries and mozzarella sticks. I don't want changed but I don't like the chicken tenders so I happy the bill came 1/2 off. First time we had been to a Perkins in a very long time but remembered it as being very tasty. I ordered the Country Fried Steak which was rancid! The scrambled eggs with cheese was dry and bottom of the eggs were a green tinge. The hash browns were good. The potato pancakes had no taste at all. First and very last time going there. We were seated right under the ceiling fan which was blowing cold air, The waitress took our drink order then our food order. Brought us our food, at this point our glasses were empty, she never asked if we wanted a refill. When we looked at our plates. The portions were SMALL. No way was the omelette " 3 eggs" latterly counted the breakfast potatoes and there were 19!!! This meal usually was a two meal breakfast... but not today! We counted 25 COLD fries on the burger plate and the hash browns were so oily and super brown that there wasn't much to eat! The waitress never checked to see how things were nor asked if we wanted refills or water! POOR SERVICE and the TWO male managers just stood around and talked to each other. This was not a busy time at all there was only one other table in the section. For damn near $60.00 it was worth about $20.00! Won't be doing this again! But everybody had smiles, the food was coming out on time, and it looked like an awful lot of happy customers. I'm not from Minneapolis, but next time I'm in town, I will be coming back to this Perkins! Actually I drove across town to get here because the other one was closed at 10 PM. I wasn't impressed by the handwritten note on the door but... after a long flight, finding out the hotel I was booked in had several rowdy girls' vollleyball teams, I thought, I need some breakfast! We stopped by this one with a big group after we went for a morning walk around centennial lakes park. It's a clean restaurant with friendly staff and we were seated pretty quickly once they had setup a table for the group our size. Ordered a variety of things all of which were fine. Nothing spectacular. My steak and eggs were decent. The steak was a little overcooked. But I didn't expect perfection. We used to go to Perkins frequently, including this location, but our most recent visit was a major disappointment. First, the waitress brought only four meals for our family of five, explaining that they were out of one item included in my Trio meal. We were surprised that she didn't inform us about this before bringing out the rest of the food, which left me waiting for my meal while everyone else was already eating. To avoid further delay, I asked to substitute the missing item with fries, and she agreed. Secondly, when the bill arrived, she charged us for the Trio meal plus an additional menu item that I did not order. She also failed to apply our 20% off coupon. We asked her to correct the bill. She brought a second check, but it was still incorrect -- this time charging the wrong item again and excluding the meal I actually ordered. We paid the second check, as we were confused at that point. On the way out, I saw a manager and spoke to him. It took him too long to address the issue, so we left. Finally, later, we noticed that our credit card showed two random, separate charges, both significantly higher than what we actually ordered. Saying goodbye to an old friend... Perkins restaurants have been around the upper Midwest for decades. While similar to appearance and menu, in our experience each is different-- especially in the cleanliness of the dining room and the quality of the food. The service wait food quality at the Perkins in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota was so awful it finally closed. The store on Highway 7 in Minnetonka was so slow in serving pie and coffee after a late night movie we stopped going there. The store along I-94 at the Black River Falls exit was always a treat for the kids, especially because of the giant orange moose. Recently, while in Green Bay, Wisconsin, and not knowing the area, we settled on Perkins thinking it was a reliable standby. Were we disappointed. The store was, literally, falling down. The iron railing along the sidewalk leading to the front door was bent away from the building at a 45° angle and the sidewalk was all busted up. Inside, the place was so dimly lit dirty we had all we could do to leave. However, the Perkins on Minnesota Highway 100 and Vernon Av, in Edina, has for decades been far and away the best, and consistently best, Perkins of all. Morning, noon or night, summer or winter, it didn't matter. The place was clean, the bakery items looked fresh, the service was good and the food was consistently good. Whenever we'd get a hankering for comfort food at a reasonable price, This Perkins was our go-to choice. We are saddened to learn this Perkins, the best Perkins, is headed for demolition, to be replaced by yet another condo building. We will miss THIS Perkins! Thanks for the memories. read more

We were visiting from California and our flight got so delayed that we didn't get to our hotel until 2 or 3am. We were starving and unfamiliar with the area and I found this place nearby our hotel and noticed they were open 24/7 so we stopped by. We were greeted immediately and we ordered food to go. The place was very clean and tidy. While we waited for our food there was at least 4 or 5 other groups coming to dine in so even at that time, they still had clientele. It didn't take long for all 3 of our meals to be ready and we were on our way. The food quality is like what you'd get at a Norms or a Dennys. What I really appreciated was that the man who attended us gave us plenty of sauces, utensils, and napkins which were super convenient to us, being that we'd be in a hotel for a week.
