I was so excited to take my grand daughter for lunch! I ordered a reuben, xxx sauerkraut & extra thousand island dressing, with onion rings. Got my order - very little sauerkraut & on only 1/2 of the sandwich; runny dressing and rings were over cooked. Second round of rings were under-done. Our server was awesome, who did what she could to make things right; not her fault. Could hear kitchen staff yelling. Not sure I'll be back soon. read more

This place is off the hook. The staff is young and great. They greet you as you come in, making you feel welcome. This was our first time, and we were glad we decided to stop here. The manager was very friendly and actually helping the servers with the customers. The food was cooked to order, and very good. The parking lot is clean and pothole free. The entrance is like walking back to the 1950s. After a very short wait, we were asked if we wanted a booth or a table-a luxury that is not found in the big restaurants. The floor and the tables were clean and ready for business. The waitstaff were professional and polite as they informed us of that day's special. They do serve a special flavor milkshake on a daily basis-my favorite is the peanut butter milkshake, but if you don't see the flavor you want-I am sure they can make your favorite. The food came out piping hot with very generous portions. Every ten minute or so, the waitress came by asking us how our food was and refilled our drinks. The waitress asked if we wanted dessert but our eyes were bigger than our stomachs. The restrooms were clean and smelled good-not like an old bar bathroom-Yuch. The bill came and i was pleasantly surprised that it did not cost that much, in fact, it costs way less than what I had figured. I left paid my bill and left a tip. Was looking forward to this place since seeing it on Yelp with high ratings. They were understaffed, but not weighing in that because of post-COVID. If the food were better, then it would have been worth it. This is a food review only. I ordered a chili dog, and maybe it's because I'm from Texas, but the chili was very bland. My wife ordered the patty melt, and it to was bland. Salt, anyone? It could be just what the local population is used to...we like strong flavors in Texas. Overall, it's an average place to get some lunch while on the road. If you're looking for flavor, go somewhere else. read more

Came here for a late evening snack and really liked the retro art and decor. The burgers were good and the fries were great. Dessert was delicious and service was good. Burgers were on the small side but definitely good quality and flavor. This is a nice little family style malt shop that brings back lots of memories of a great bygone era. We come here often and this time was terrible! I ordered a burger but on grilled sourdough ( as I have before) with thousand island and onions. When it came,it was on slightly toasted (?) with all the regular condiments ( which is a waste of food) and no thousand island dressing. I said, I' m sorry but this isn't grilled sourdough to which she snapped " Yes, that IS grilled sourdough". Now my brother in law ordered grilled ham and cheese and his came out grilled ( you could definitely see the difference as mine was totally dry, cold bread and his was warm, golden brown from the buttered bread on the grill).. my daughter ordered meatloaf with corn as a side and it came with green beans. When she mentioned she asked for corn, the waitress ( Kardence) said it comes with green beans, I will have to take them back ( which was fine) and then upcharge you for corn. Never came back to our table to ask if we needed anything else, to refill our drinks or even to give us a bill. After waiting for 10 minutes by counter, someone else went back and got the bill from her so we could pay our bill. Her attitude was so rude and disrespectful we were all shocked. Waitresses are usually trained to help solve an issue, check the food is correct prior to bringing it to the table, without an attitude. Had she come back, I would have asked her to look at the grilled ham and cheese and look at my " grilled sourdough" burger to show her the difference. Solid 3 stars. Service was great, food was nothing to write home about. Inside was colorful 50's themed.

Thrilled to have stumbled across this cute diner while cruising through town. We were just about to go back to the main drag when we saw a bunch of cool neon signs seemingly out of place. We were immediately greeted by a woman who came over and gave me a big hug and asked where we were traveling from. I ended up staying two hours talking and watching families enjoy their milkshakes. Plus, they had homemade pie - need I say more??! read more

I WANT TO GIVE THIS PLACE 5 STARS BUT We loved this place! The food was great, the atmosphere was fun. Coffee was great. But the service was lacking. Our waitress forgot multiple items we asked for and definitely didn't seem in any rush. I just went back 2nd for a sit down meal. The meal was really good with good size portions, however the servers can use a course in customer service etiquette. Especially, on how to communicate with customers. One of the waitress was very loud in a rebuke to an elderly man, which was uncalled for. She had a prideful attitude, as if she was overjoyed at her loud actions towards the gentleman. Also, there are many regulars that has been dining there for years, but shouldn't ALL who enter in be treated with dignity and respect? Smile, empathy, enthusiasm, kindness are just a few traits of excellent customer service skills. read more

Really great service. Super friendly We had a turkey bacon sandwich on rye toasted just right. It was delicious. The chicken soup is a menu staple filled with fat noddles and plenty of big chunks of chicken. The only disappointment was the pound cake sundae. The cake itself was dry and not buttery. This place was great with everything tasting very fresh and homemade. My brother loved their cinnamon roll French toast with pecans and said that's what he's been missing in his life! I had a delicious omelette that was fluffy and filled with cheese, meat and veggies (I added extra). I am super picky with Green Chile and the chili here DID. NOT. DISSAPOINT! I added it to my omelette and now a few days later I am wishing I could have another one! The service was amazing. Drinks were refilled promptly, food was brought out hot and fresh, all the staff was friendly. Honestly, the only negative is that I live too far away from this amazing place! Arrived at the restaurant was told 20-25 min wait. Waited over an hour before asking how much longer. A one point a waitress told the host to stop seating people. The girl then tells us we can sit people but you will be waiting a long time for your food. I asked her why they didn't tell people it was going to take longer then expected, her response was I have been only telling people that come back up to the desk. I get it things come up out of the control of the workers but come on inform people. Instead of making people wait over an hour and not inform them on Father's Day. One lady coming out even said you are better off going if somewhere else because they waited over an hour just to get food. read more

This morning, my husband & I found a gem!!! This diner has everything you could want in a hometown restaurant; interesting surroundings, fast service, great food, delicious coffee, friendly people, & our server, Danita, was great!!! My husband loves homemade cinnamon rolls; so, when Danita offered to bring a freshly baked cinnamon roll to the table, as a "starter"for our breakfast, he was so happy!!! The entire breakfast experience was yummy!!! Thank you, Johnny J's staff members & Danita! Seems to be very popular with the locals. Service was fairly quick, broasted chicken and steak were mediocre.

Service is top-notch! The Pecan rolls are on point even after a slight recipe change of the drizzle glaze. You can't go wrong with those. Even if you have to do a cheat day early, make sure you put a little butter over iit did they give you and it willl raise the elevation elevation level to heaven. Had the steak and eggs for breakfast. Unfortunately I had to send the steak back twice because of the gristle content. The second almost worse than the first one. However service was swift and promptly compensated for the issue and I politely advised them to notify management so they can notify their supplier of the issue.
