John was great, he quickly diagnosed what was wrong with my dishwasher and fixed it no problem!

Originally, I left a 5-star review because John installed two toilets for us at a reasonable price. He did forget to caulk them, but he immediately came back and fixed the oversight. Unfortunately, one of the toilets has never functioned properly--it constantly runs and struggles to flush. Despite John returning several times, the problem was never resolved. We later hired John for other odd jobs, including installing a garbage disposal and fixing water backup into our dishwasher. As always, he was punctual and friendly. However, the garbage disposal was installed incorrectly, which caused new problems. He also accidentally caused some minor floor barrier damage while working in that area. To his credit, he offered to repair the damage right away, but I declined because I appreciated his willingness to help. The next day, when the water backup issue continued, we called him back. To our surprise, he asked for MORE money to revisit the SAME problem he had originally been paid to fix. Even after paying again, the issue still wasn't fixed. We ultimately had to hire another company, who immediately discovered that John had not removed the knockout plug or connected the dishwasher properly--something very basic for that type of installation. Overall, while John is personable and punctual, I cannot recommend him due to repeated problems, additional charges for unresolved issues, and ultimately needing to pay another professional to correct mistakes. Seems like an overall good guy trying to make a living but he needs to take his customers into better consideration if he would like to keep them. read more

I have attempted to reach our usual roofing company since December 1st to no avail. I remembered Yelp Projects and decided to try a Yelp recommendation. John's Helping Hand was great. We originally called him to only fix an area on our roof before the storm hit as we had some damaged tiles. He not only fixed the tiles, but he found several cracked tiles that he filled in and repaired. In addition to that, I asked him about fixing a downstairs closet that the shelving and clothes rod had pulled away from the wall. John fixed that for us a well. He was happy to do the extra work and professional in answering our questions. He gave us a timely response to our service request too, as in 1 day! Absolutely unheard of nowadays. As a result of wind damage, a significant leak developed around a dual fireplace exhaust termination on my roof. John's response to my posting was rapid. He scheduled an inspection on Sunday and brought a repair part today, Monday......a holiday weekend. Unable to find the exact repair part, he on the job modified one that was available to prevent further leakage. His charges were reasonable as he demonstrated a determination for promptly and properly fixing the problem. read more

We had a monster storm come through with high winds and heavy rain that caused three windows to start leaking. We called John at 9am, he called us right back and headed over to help. He was here by 12pm and had everything needed to complete the job and was fixed by 1pm. I got in touch with John regarding our dishwasher that wouldn't drain. He arrived around 7 pm to take a look at it and within 30/40 minutes located the problem with my unit. There was a small piece of glass lodged in the drain pump motor. He removed it , reassembled and tested the unit and it was now working properly. My mom had to fix her roof and he showed up with a weird car than showed up in a different car he worked on our roof my mom showed him multiple spots he only fixed one roof but the quality work wasn't good and he also asked for full payment upfront and he didn't fix the roof now we have roof rat problem because we had pest guy to come out and he told us that we have roof rat problems and it chewed our wires of our hot tub so we don't have lights anymore disappointing service really was terrible don't recommend him for roof fixing probably higher a actual roofer that has license I don't think he has license!. The value of his work isn't really good his vehicles are weird he showed up in beat up car and then showed up in a actual car really disappointed now we have to pay someone to come he asked for lot of money red flag he was ok but not as friendly his work was all good. Storm damage from the severe winter of 2022-23 left dozens of my cement roof tiles broken and a snow retaining bar warped and unusable. I needed them fixed before the next winter. I contacted John and he came by my house to give me a free assessment and estimate within 48 hours. His estimate was competitive and he was available to start work in less than a week. He told me when he would come to repair my roof and arrived just when he promised he would. John has high standards and his work was very professionally done. Reached out to John to repair a leaky roof that had been 'fixed' twice by another roofer (obviously unsuccessfully). John responded immediately and was able to come out that day to inspect the job and give me a bid. Quoted a very reasonable flat rate. Then came out early the next morning and had the job done within a few hours. The repair has held up great through all the thunderstorms we've been having this Spring, so it's safe to say John succeeded where others failed. We needed our workshop and shed roofs completely redone, as they both were leaking, rendering those rooms useless to us. We requested a quote from John late in 2023. He got us the quote, but circumstances changed for us so we could no longer afford to fix the roofs. We came back to him 8 months later with our funds secured, and he got back to us very quickly. He even agreed to honor the previous quote. He was communicative about the materials pricing as well as his schedule for re-doing the roofs. He completed the job thoroughly, and in the middle of an intense heat wave. We will see how the roofs hold up in the winter time, but based on the work ethic and communication from John, I will definitely be using his services again. read more

Our old (like 30 years old!) skylight finally started to leak. Contacted John and he responded promptly. Came out the next day, did his inspection and gave us a quote that we found very reasonable. He helped us via text to order the correct items at Home Depot on a Friday, he picked it up and was back on Monday to do the installation. John worked steadily and was done in less than four hours.
