This is long overdue . . . we had a small roof leak on our house in Tahoe Donner. We had a roofing contractor come out to repair the leak. Unfortunately, after their work, the leak was still there. He said there was nothing more that they could do. Since the leak was small, we decided to address this in the future. Fast forward one year later, we now have a second leak in the same area. I called 4 roofing contractors to address these 2 smaller leaks. Two never bothered to return my call. One did not show for the appointment, which did not matter because we had already met with Doug Nickerson and decided we would use them. Doug returned my call and made an appointment to look at our situation. Doug called on the day of our appointment to let me know he was running early, was that OK? Hell yes! After inspecting our roof, he was confident where and how the leak was occurring, and that they would have no problem remedying the problem. As far as scheduling, since it was such a smaller job, he said they would fit it in somewhere between jobs. Could be a week, a month, whatever. Well, two days later, I get a call from Doug saying they could get there that morning! Their guys show up, go to work on the leaks as well as give our metal roof a total screw down. They are done and gone by 1:00 pm. Two years later . . . No leaks and performing well. I have the company who will be doing any roofing work I need from now on. Very pleasant, great communicator and fantastic work. Plus an SF Giants fan for a bonus. I STRONGLY recommend them for any roofing work you have. read more

Nicholson Roofing was extremely unprofessional. I received a bid from them in March, which we agreed to and signed. They told me the project would start in June, but when June came, they pushed it to August. Then in August, they delayed again -- this time to the third week of September. When that finally arrived, they called to say they couldn't pull a permit because their limit with the county was too low -- something they should have known back in March when they first gave me the bid. This has put me in a terrible position. My roof is in bad shape, and now I have to get through another winter with no repairs. At this time of year, it's nearly impossible to find another roofer on short notice. They didn't apologize, offer a solution, or take any responsibility for the situation. Overall, very disappointing experience. They may be the cheapest company in town but now I see why. read more

STAY AWAY - Highly Unprofessional and Unreliable. We signed a contract last year to replace our roof this season. After months of delays, excuses, and stress, the company canceled on the very morning work was to begin. Dan called saying their estimator, Daniel, "messed up" the quote and that the job would now cost 2.5x more -- no apology, no solution, just a cancellation. Earlier in the year, they had already tried to change the scope, saying they couldn't include full ice-and-water shield (main reason for me to choose them) as written in the bid. After lengthy discussions, we compromised, with letting go full-roof ice and shield and upping the shingle quality. They even pulled the permit, so I thought the job was finally happening. Instead, I was left scrambling, late-season, to find someone else. To make it worse, they contradicted themselves about my roof's condition (first saying 2 years left, then 5). A new roofer confirmed it's in poor shape and needs urgent replacement. Now I'm paying through my nose to get prioritized by a new roofer. Bottom line: Dishonest, disorganized, and zero accountability. If you value your time, money, and sanity -- look elsewhere. read more

When you have a leak in your roof and the rainy season is on it's way, you need a roofer ASAP! Not 6-8 weeks out like a lot of the local roofing companies I contacted. So, I was fortunate that when I contacted Nicholson Roofing, like the old fashioned way, on the phone, the actual boss answered and agreed to come out the next day and take a look. He actually showed up in the morning when promised afternoon, so the sooner the better in my book! He look at the leak in the ceiling and then climbed up on the roof to inspect. He even took off some of the concrete tiles to look what's going on underneath. He found damage to the paper waterproof layer below and knew exactly what was involved to repair. He made a thorough inspection and came up with a price. What made me pick Nicholson Roofing is the fact that he could do the repair within a week ... not 6 weeks away! Price didn't really matter within reason, just get this fixed before it starts raining again! The work comes with a 6 year guarantee, so I'm confidant they they take care of any problems once it starts raining! Nicholson Roofing is a professional outfit, you know like real website that works, real contractor number and BBB rated, and most important responsive in a timely manner on any question or issues. I received a written quote via email to sign and after the job was done, a paid invoice receipt via email .... the modern way, no snail mail here! They showed up on time on the date agreed to and went right to work on the roof. Done in half the time I expected and didn't leave any mess or debris in the driveway, all cleaned up like they were never there. Anthony was great, sent his tear off crew over to remove some old patio covers right away so I could get the house painted prior to having the roof replaced, they also tarped some bad areas to keep the rain out. We had lots of delays due to weather and other issues, but eventually once the painting and new gutters were installed his crew got the roof installed in short order and did an amazing job. We were in desperate need of a new roof due to leaks we had quite a few different companies come out to give both price and project date quotes. We were jerked around, people kept changing quotes to much higher costs. In the end I was between 3 companies and chose Nicholson roofing for the project. It was a great choice, not only did they have the best price, but they also had the best availability to complete the project. They were very responsive, quick to communicate any changes, very informative without pressure and easy to work with. The whole crew was wonderful! They were quick and efficient. These guys were great. They came within an hour of the call to them. I enjoyed the family bantering and they came to work. They had the roof of in abut 3.5 hours. They had the new roof on in about 4 hours. The greatest thing about the process is that they did an excellent job cleaning up afterwards. 1/20/25. Nicholson Roofing was so prompt and awesome when our skylight blew off. It was wide open. Daniel was there early the next morning to cover the hole and order a new skylight. Once he arrived he honestly said the skylight is still good. Just need another lens for it. Daniel and his brother Anthony are honest, hard working gentlemen. We hired this company to put a few shingles on our roof. They installed a lighter color that stood out like a sore thumb. They put nails where they shouldn't be. When I called to complain the man argued with me and told me it was because high winds. It was terrible customer service. I paid them $1500.00 for this eyesore. I knew i was getting no where and he refused to fix his mess so I hung up. Please don't use this roofers. I will be hiring a professional to clean up his mess. read more
