Review of TEK Inspections - Inspector Brett Neumark Inspection Date: March 27, 2025 Company Slogan: "Dedicated to your peace of mind" We are deeply disappointed with the level of service provided by TEK Inspections and inspector Brett Neumark. Our experience was far from the peace of mind promised by the company's slogan, and the consequences of the oversights during our inspection have been costly, frustrating, and stressful. 1. Incomplete Attic Inspection Mr. Neumark failed to inspect the attic entirely because the entrance was located above the washer and dryer in the laundry room. Although the current homeowners gave full consent to move the units--an easy task requiring no more than shifting them five inches--Mr. Neumark refused. Our realtor ultimately moved them without issue, but only after we insisted that the attic be inspected. Even then, the inspector was visibly annoyed that we requested he complete the job. 2. Rodent Infestation Overlooked Despite noting droppings in the garage, Mr. Neumark inaccurately concluded they were old and that there was no active infestation. Within 24 hours of moving in, we discovered a live family of mice in the garage. Additionally, there were mouse droppings in the attic--completely omitted from his report--confirming an active and ongoing rodent problem that should not have been missed. 3. Bathtub Leak Ignored The secondary bathroom's bathtub leaked significantly the first time we used it, causing water damage to the floor. The inspector claimed he could not properly assess it for fear of damaging the facade. However, upon closer inspection, we found it was secured by only six easily removable screws. It took us less than a minute to confirm the leak ourselves. This lack of effort was inexcusable. 4. Structural Oversight A large, gaping hole--about the size of a football--was left unnoticed under the eaves near the back patio door. Nesting birds, feathers, and debris made it clear this had been an ongoing issue, yet it was not mentioned in the report. This type of structural vulnerability should have been immediately flagged by any qualified inspector. 5. Incorrect and Costly Radon Advice We were incorrectly advised that installing a vapor barrier in our crawl space would resolve elevated radon levels. Based on this recommendation, we paid $1,200 to a local pest control company--only to find out it did nothing to fix the issue. A professional radon specialist later explained that proper ventilation is required, which cost us nearly $5,000. This misinformation was both costly and dangerous. Conclusion The inspection felt rushed and careless. Critical issues that any competent home inspector should have identified were either ignored or misdiagnosed. The inspector appeared more interested in finishing quickly than in ensuring our home was safe and sound. We strongly caution others against using TEK Inspections. In our opinion, this company is not committed to its slogan or to providing the level of diligence and professionalism that homebuyers deserve. read more

TEK inspected a new Toll Brothers home around the time our official walkthrough. TEK was professional, efficient and thorough from start to finish. Elisa got the site visit scheduled on short notice despite shifting time windows imposed by the developer; she promptly submitted the insurance, bonding and certification documentation required by the developer; she resolved last minute snafus that threatened to cancel the inspection. Ty arrived on site at the appointed time and inspected the home systems thoroughly during the builder-limited 3 hour window. The inspection included IR inspection of appliances, drone inspection of the roof (since developer denied physical access), and physical inspection of crawl and attic spaces. Ty's report was available in less than 24 hours. The most incompetent inspection company I've ever ran into. As the home owner I should NOT be finding things wrong after I move in. Oh but the inspector was quick to point out the small cracks in the tile flooring but missed the electrical problems that I'm now fixing. I have used TEK as my house inspector in purchasing 2 houses. They do the best inspections that I have ever seen. They also do an infrared inspection (additional small charge) to see if there are any leaks within the house. Brett inspected a home that I was considering for purchase.. He was totally professional & I felt also went above & beyond to make sure that I understood the exact details of each area (inside & out) that he inspected. His roof inspection also included overhead drone viewings and was as perfectionist a product in conclusion as could ever be possible! In addition to carefully examining inside areas of this home, his outer areas inspections were just as thorough. He pointed out specific concerns that he felt required further examination (by a contractor) regarding a retaining wall & a possible structures change in a sunroom addition to the house. Both could be very costly to a buyer if the signs he was seeing were indicative of deeper issues! He didn't try to over or understate possible outcomes of a contractor's review but clearly was thorough and had my best interests (as a buyer) in mind when he recommended I have additional analysis completed. A Detailed report was immediately emailed to me (the same day) as the inspection occurred which contained precise & clear photos of each and any area he had regarded as needing attention. The IR inspection didn't turn up much, but the regular inspection turned up quite a long list of items in need of attention. The inspection report was helpful in getting the builder to fix things before the close. (From what I've heard, that means the builder was a lot more likely to fix issues and fix them promptly. We just purchased a home in NW Reno. As we started to look at the 20+ year old home before making an offer we noticed that there may be some issues with the siding, as well as other concerns that you might expect to find with a home beginning to age. The sale process moved quickly so when we talked toTEK about scheduling our inspection they were very accommodating with getting it scheduled to help meet our deadlines. Ty and Brett showed up right on time. I was impressed with how each of them had their inspection areas and thoroughly looked at each aspect of the structure, and the plumbing, electrical, etc. The pest inspector showed up while they were there and TEK worked very professionally with them to inspect under the home together, which I thought was a bonus for me to have two inspectors looking for things under the home at the same time. I could hear them talking to each other about what they saw and how it affected the home. When they had finished their inspection I figured that I'd get a copy of the report from my Realtor and review it. TEK actually got me, my Realtor, and the Seller's Realtor together and went over the inspection. They had photos of what they saw and were able to answer questions on the spot, That was really helpful when TEK had found some small issues with some shingles on the NEW roof which was installed a couple of months ago. Even though this was new, TEK didn't blow it off, they climbed up there and inspected it, and actually showed us a problem they found. The Seller's agent couldn't dispute it and subsequently, the roofer was back out and corrected the issue! From scheduling to the post-inspection follow up their office kept us informed, and the final report was presented timely.
