Review of TEK Inspections - Inspector Brett Neumark…read moreInspection Date: March 27, 2025 Company Slogan: "Dedicated to your peace of mind" We are deeply disappointed with the level of service provided by TEK Inspections and inspector Brett Neumark. Our experience was far from the peace of mind promised by the company's slogan, and the consequences of the oversights during our inspection have been costly, frustrating, and stressful. 1. Incomplete Attic Inspection Mr. Neumark failed to inspect the attic entirely because the entrance was located above the washer and dryer in the laundry room. Although the current homeowners gave full consent to move the units--an easy task requiring no more than shifting them five inches--Mr. Neumark refused. Our realtor ultimately moved them without issue, but only after we insisted that the attic be inspected. Even then, the inspector was visibly annoyed that we requested he complete the job. 2. Rodent Infestation Overlooked Despite noting droppings in the garage, Mr. Neumark inaccurately concluded they were old and that there was no active infestation. Within 24 hours of moving in, we discovered a live family of mice in the garage. Additionally, there were mouse droppings in the attic--completely omitted from his report--confirming an active and ongoing rodent problem that should not have been missed. 3. Bathtub Leak Ignored The secondary bathroom's bathtub leaked significantly the first time we used it, causing water damage to the floor. The inspector claimed he could not properly assess it for fear of damaging the facade. However, upon closer inspection, we found it was secured by only six easily removable screws. It took us less than a minute to confirm the leak ourselves. This lack of effort was inexcusable. 4. Structural Oversight A large, gaping hole--about the size of a football--was left unnoticed under the eaves near the back patio door. Nesting birds, feathers, and debris made it clear this had been an ongoing issue, yet it was not mentioned in the report. This type of structural vulnerability should have been immediately flagged by any qualified inspector. 5. Incorrect and Costly Radon Advice We were incorrectly advised that installing a vapor barrier in our crawl space would resolve elevated radon levels. Based on this recommendation, we paid $1,200 to a local pest control company--only to find out it did nothing to fix the issue. A professional radon specialist later explained that proper ventilation is required, which cost us nearly $5,000. This misinformation was both costly and dangerous. Conclusion The inspection felt rushed and careless. Critical issues that any competent home inspector should have identified were either ignored or misdiagnosed. The inspector appeared more interested in finishing quickly than in ensuring our home was safe and sound. We strongly caution others against using TEK Inspections. In our opinion, this company is not committed to its slogan or to providing the level of diligence and professionalism that homebuyers deserve.

Elisa got the site visit scheduled on short notice despite shifting time windows imposed by the developer; she promptly submitted the insurance, bonding and certification documentation required by the developer; she resolved last minute snafus that threatened to cancel the inspection. Ty arrived on site at the appointed time and inspected the home systems thoroughly during the builder-limited 3 hour window. The inspection included IR inspection of appliances, drone inspection of the roof (since developer denied physical access), and physical inspection of crawl and attic spaces. Ty's report was available in less than 24 hours. The report included photos of every nook and cranny inspected, indications of proper and deficient findings, as well recommendations for deficient findings. Recommended.

After he was done, he took the time to chat with me to discuss what he found, propose solutions, and answer any questions I had. He was very clear in how he described things and would show pictures of what he found and pictures of what it should look like. He clearly takes pride in his work and has years of experience. A couple days later, I received his official written report and I was pleasantly surprised at how long and detailed it was. If you need an inspection, this is the guy to hire! Also, his wife, Lori, handles scheduling/admin duties and she was also very pleasant to work with.

I found Kent on Yelp and gave him a shout. Made an appointment and boom, the inspection began. Kent was at our home almost 5 hours. I was extremely impressed with his knowledge of construction and building code. Needless to say our home is looking pretty good. Kent did find a few items I need to have Toll Brothers fix. A cracked roof tile, an unmarked fire door entering the home from the garage, and a landscaping drainage issue. If you are looking for peace of mind with the investment regarding your home, I highly recommend Kent come take a look. With decades of experience Kent's sharp eye will bring light to the unknown in your home.

We had a previous inspection done on our property, so I was amazed by how many important details Steve found that had been completely missed during the first inspection. He was incredibly thorough and paid attention to details that I would have never thought to look for. His photos and documentation were also excellent and really helped us understand exactly what was going on with the property. One of the things I really appreciated about Steve was his online inspection portal. The report was very organized and included so many helpful photos, which made it easy to see exactly what he was referring to and where each issue was located. It was especially helpful when we were trying to figure out which items needed the most attention. I also loved that the portal made it so easy to go through the issues and select the specific items we wanted to bring to the sellers for repairs or a price reduction. It saved us so much time and even created a clean, professional document that we could use for our requests. This made the entire process so much easier and more organized. I also had several questions for Steve after the inspection, and he was very responsive and helpful. He found one serious issue with the house that I had absolutely no idea how to deal with, and I really appreciated being able to reach out to him and get his insight. Having someone knowledgeable who could answer my questions and help me better understand the situation gave me a lot of peace of mind. In the end, we decided to move forward with purchasing the home. We knew there was work that needed to be done, but because Steve was so thorough, we felt confident moving forward with the purchase and knew what we were getting into. His inspection gave us a much clearer picture of the property's condition and helped us feel comfortable making such a major investment. Buying a home can be stressful, especially when you uncover unexpected issues, but having Steve as our inspector made a huge difference. I truly appreciated how thorough he was, how responsive he was to my questions, and how easy he made the entire inspection process. I am so grateful for the work he did and for the confidence his inspection gave us in moving forward with our purchase. I would absolutely recommend Steve and Saterno Inspections to anyone buying a home, and I would not hesitate to use him again in the future!

There were…read moremultiple items listed on their inspection report that were not properly inspected or tested. This ultimately affected the sale of our house. If a certified inspector is going to create an official document that affects major purchases or has legal use, they should perform a full and proper inspection--do the job they were hired and paid to do. Items were incorrectly identified that demonstrated their lack of knowledge. For example, "Master bathroom does not have an exhaust fan." Inspector either doesn't know what an inline exhaust fan is or they didn't take the time to properly inspect. If an item is going to end up on an official report make sure it's accurate. Another couple example, "South exterior outlet is not GFI protected, all outlets throughout house must be GFI protected". That statement made the potential buyer assume none of the outlets were GFI compliant. The south outlet Weintz notes was not even connected, it was an old existing abandoned outlet that just needed a $1.00 cover plate instead of making the buyer think an electrician needed to be hired for the whole house. I would not hire Weintz to be inspector for a sale or purchase. Find an inspection firm that understands what their service is ultimately being used for and doesn't just go through the motions. I should note that I work for a general contractor and I have never worked with Weintz before.
