Review of TEK Inspections - Inspector Brett Neumark…read moreInspection Date: March 27, 2025 Company Slogan: "Dedicated to your peace of mind" We are deeply disappointed with the level of service provided by TEK Inspections and inspector Brett Neumark. Our experience was far from the peace of mind promised by the company's slogan, and the consequences of the oversights during our inspection have been costly, frustrating, and stressful. 1. Incomplete Attic Inspection Mr. Neumark failed to inspect the attic entirely because the entrance was located above the washer and dryer in the laundry room. Although the current homeowners gave full consent to move the units--an easy task requiring no more than shifting them five inches--Mr. Neumark refused. Our realtor ultimately moved them without issue, but only after we insisted that the attic be inspected. Even then, the inspector was visibly annoyed that we requested he complete the job. 2. Rodent Infestation Overlooked Despite noting droppings in the garage, Mr. Neumark inaccurately concluded they were old and that there was no active infestation. Within 24 hours of moving in, we discovered a live family of mice in the garage. Additionally, there were mouse droppings in the attic--completely omitted from his report--confirming an active and ongoing rodent problem that should not have been missed. 3. Bathtub Leak Ignored The secondary bathroom's bathtub leaked significantly the first time we used it, causing water damage to the floor. The inspector claimed he could not properly assess it for fear of damaging the facade. However, upon closer inspection, we found it was secured by only six easily removable screws. It took us less than a minute to confirm the leak ourselves. This lack of effort was inexcusable. 4. Structural Oversight A large, gaping hole--about the size of a football--was left unnoticed under the eaves near the back patio door. Nesting birds, feathers, and debris made it clear this had been an ongoing issue, yet it was not mentioned in the report. This type of structural vulnerability should have been immediately flagged by any qualified inspector. 5. Incorrect and Costly Radon Advice We were incorrectly advised that installing a vapor barrier in our crawl space would resolve elevated radon levels. Based on this recommendation, we paid $1,200 to a local pest control company--only to find out it did nothing to fix the issue. A professional radon specialist later explained that proper ventilation is required, which cost us nearly $5,000. This misinformation was both costly and dangerous. Conclusion The inspection felt rushed and careless. Critical issues that any competent home inspector should have identified were either ignored or misdiagnosed. The inspector appeared more interested in finishing quickly than in ensuring our home was safe and sound. We strongly caution others against using TEK Inspections. In our opinion, this company is not committed to its slogan or to providing the level of diligence and professionalism that homebuyers deserve.

Elisa got the site visit scheduled on short notice despite shifting time windows imposed by the developer; she promptly submitted the insurance, bonding and certification documentation required by the developer; she resolved last minute snafus that threatened to cancel the inspection. Ty arrived on site at the appointed time and inspected the home systems thoroughly during the builder-limited 3 hour window. The inspection included IR inspection of appliances, drone inspection of the roof (since developer denied physical access), and physical inspection of crawl and attic spaces. Ty's report was available in less than 24 hours. The report included photos of every nook and cranny inspected, indications of proper and deficient findings, as well recommendations for deficient findings. Recommended.

Wow ! This is the Most Thorough Inspection I have ever seen, Chris Yancey Deserves "10" Stars !!…read more My husband and I are purchasing a home in the Sparks Nevada area. We both know how important it is to do a thorough home inspection on Any Home, even a Newly Built one ! We hired 'Pillar to Post' to do our inspection and met Chris Yancey, the Franchise Owner. This man is Extremely Knowledgeable and does a Deep Dive while inspecting a home, climbing on the roof and crawling down under the raised foundation ! After an intense inspection, Mr Yancey took the time to Go Over all of his findings. He showed us pictures, explained each one, and pointed out the problems he found, all for an outstanding price. He even has a 'Heat Sensor' tool to examine potential problems hidden from the naked eye. I can highly recommend, 'Pillar to Post', and especially Chris Yancey, for his detailed home inspection work. He has supplied us with a hard copy report to go over, at our leisure, to put our mind at ease. This will make our decision to move forward with our purchase and possibly negotiate for any serious issues that he has found. This is an Amazing company to find problems that may exist in a home you are planning to Buy. Making it the best investment for the largest investment you will ever make !

Over the many years in Northern Nevada, we have bought and sold many properties plus my husband was a Real Estate Broker (retired), so we have had many a home inspection. Some great and some not so good. The last one we had was okay but the system for the report made it hard to read. I don't like spending hours deciphering a report and breaking it down to find out which repairs we would handle and which to pass to the homeowner. I like lots of photos showing issues. That is the only thing I wish this company would post more of on the report. Pictures speak better than words. Chris was thorough and spent time going over the report with our agent and my husband. I took the report and put together the information for the "notice of repairs". Chris was friendly and professional and arrived on time. This was the first time using this company and we are happy with the results.

If you are looking for a thorough, thoughtful, customer oriented inspection, this team is perfect for you. Duane is thorough and wants you to know what he has done. He takes notes and pictures as a scales the house from roof to crawl space. Shelley is efficient at returning emails and phone calls. Both of them made me feel like a person, not a timed-task with a pocketbook. I wish we had more family businesses that worked as hard as these two. They are about building relationships and I can't wait to refer them to someone else!

They wrote up the most ridiculous stuff and everything was a "life safety" or "fire hazard". Several items in the report simply were not true! They said there was a leak under one sink; when I went to fix it, no leak or evidence of a leak. They said the bathroom exhaust fan was dirty and therefore a "fire hazard!" (Exclamation was theirs); I looked and there were a few spider webs on the fan cover. I could go on and on, but there were literally hundreds of things written up. Everything that is important could be fixed in a few hours by one person. My buyer freaked out and cancelled the deal. Unfortunately she had a new agent that could not see that the inspection was mostly B.S. Edit: I just read the other bad review from last month. I also suspected that they wrote stuff up to get the buyer out of contract, but didn't put that at first. I don't see another reason why they would write things up that were not real?

After he was done, he took the time to chat with me to discuss what he found, propose solutions, and answer any questions I had. He was very clear in how he described things and would show pictures of what he found and pictures of what it should look like. He clearly takes pride in his work and has years of experience. A couple days later, I received his official written report and I was pleasantly surprised at how long and detailed it was. If you need an inspection, this is the guy to hire! Also, his wife, Lori, handles scheduling/admin duties and she was also very pleasant to work with.

A cracked roof tile, an unmarked fire door entering the home from the garage, and a landscaping drainage issue. If you are looking for peace of mind with the investment regarding your home, I highly recommend Kent come take a look.
