While visiting Rome we decided to check out John Henry's.  It's a nice, classy spot in the heart of Rome. They have amazing food. We enjoyed the Blackened Shrimp as an appetizer. I enjoyed the Pecan Crusted sea bass with French Green Beans. The salad bar rivals all and is a must on every stop. The staff made us feel welcomed and gave us a phenomenal experience with service so amazing that we will definitely be back again and again. read more

Was hoping to find a late-night dinner spot (difficult with the Covid lockdowns) and the hotel recommended a Cajun place. Walked to the location and as luck would have it...they had just closed. Saw another place a couple of doors down so I thought I would give them a shot. Walked into John Henry's Grill and asked the waitress who greeted me for a table. She said their dining room had just closed too but the bar was still open. Went into the bar and the bartender informed me the kitchen was closed {sigh}. As I was walking out the door the waitress who greeted me (Briana) told me she talked to her manager Matt and if I wanted to dine there they would accommodate me. This place opened three weeks ago...I'm sure it has been an uphill battle for them so I really appreciated them taking care of me. Briana brought me a cold Shiner Bock and I ordered the John Henry Burger with the Jasmine Corn Risotto. I learned from Matt that John Henry's cuts their own steaks and uses the scraps from rib-eye and flat iron steaks to grind for their burgers. The flavor is evident from the first bite! They take two 5-6oz patties with white cheddar cheese, grilled onions, and a SLAB of beefsteak tomato to create this masterpiece. Seriously...this is an incredible burger and really needs nothing to compliment it. The risotto was very good and a great compliment to the meal, I enjoyed the combination of flavors and would order this as a side again. The food here is exceptional and the service and care received from Briana and Matt was memorable. I plan on visiting Rome again...and John Henry's will be my first dining stop! read more

Bingo or had lunch at John Henry's the other day with a few people. Atmosphere was nice, restaurant was very large. Not busy at all, so we sat right down. However, we had to wait a bit before our server came over. We started out with some beers and I got a peach margarita because after all I was in Georgia! Drinks took a bit to get to the table but the peach margarita was pretty good and nice and strong. We had fried zucchini for an appetizer, which was a bit disappointing because they were very very thin strips of zucchini and mostly batter. We tried the smoked brisket tacos which were delicious. The order came with two tacos but you can add extra tacos for four dollars apiece so we added two more. I got the BLT which was packed with a good bit of bacon, but I didn't really love the flavor of Dijon aioli. My friend tried the smoked duck breast, which he loved. The macaroni and cheese was amazing that he got with it as his side. Another person got the grouper tacos which he really enjoyed. The fried okra was just average. All in all the meal was pretty good, but the service was extremely slow especially since there were only three other tables occupied, and there was two servers. While I have only been here twice, both times have encouraged me to come back on my visits to Rome, GA. I lived here for a while as a child and knew it as the quiet, homely, town where everybody knew everybody. Unfortunately, it seems word has not got out about this place. While it's not your hometown barbecue, or mom & pops hole in the wall, this place stands as one of the best restaurants in all of Rome. The zucchini fries are absolutely amazing, with a wide spread salad bar with unlimited refills available. I recommend the salad and baked potato combination as you will likely finish your meal and zucchini fries. I have also had the tomato, spinach & artichoke dip both times I have been and while the first time it was better, it is amazing dish to take home and enjoy as leftovers. I really hope this place can find its crowd soon as many great restaurants have been forced to shut down over the past 2 years. read more

We ate here on a Friday night. The patio was packed but luckily we had no wait. We sat and were pretty quickly asked for our drink order. Our soft drinks came in large Ball jars which were fun. We received complimentary jalapeño cheese cornbread muffins. They were yummy! We ordered a grilled grouper sandwich with sweet potato fries and a John Henry burger with grilled asparagus. As my husband was eating his grouper sandwich he broke off a piece of grouper and noticed it was undercooked. He mentioned it to the server who mentioned it to the manager. The manager apologized and stated that she would check with the kitchen to make sure they were watching the cooking temperature. Then she notified us that she discounted that meal 10%. That literally is $1.40 off the sandwich!!! We enjoyed all the other part of the meal but were kind of insulted at the minuscule discount. We were not even asking for a discount but we're very grossed out by the undercooked food. On a positive note: they have the world's best sweet potato fries! A must try!! read more

This is my first time dining at John Henry's Grill. I eat out often several times a week, so I'm aware of what's really good and it was just fair. I ordered the flat iron steak medium and it came out medium rare to rare. I also ordered a potato that was undercooked and hard, I also ordered the garlic butter for the steak that never happened. The salad bar was good although I thought it was a little bit strange to add five dollars for one trip when I ordered the steak. Also, they charge $.25 for a glass of water never have I heard of such a thing! and to top it all off when I got home, I had to run to the toilet. My friend, who was with me, said he gave it about a six or seven out of 10 and said his steak had no taste. Mine didn't either anyway I will not be returning there. read more

I've been to this place two or three times now, and I like it. It has a nice and laid back atmosphere, especially in the evenings. The food is delicious and fresh, and the staff are agreeable enough. I didn't realize until my latest visit this past Sunday evening that they have a fully loaded salad bar, a big plus. The only minor complaint I had was when I ordered the skewed shrimp for $10, I only got 4 or 5 shrimp with some nasty tasting corn beside it and a few leafy pieces of lettuce. Although I mentioned it, it really wasn't a big deal considering their fully stocked salad bar. I will definitely be returning to this place and have mentioned it to several family and friends who will be joining me there for future visits. I highly recommend it. read more

This is our 2nd time eating at JH. First time was when they first open and things were crazy. Someone told us to give them another try and we are so glad we did. Ordered the duck, loaded baked potato, and fried okra. The fried okra was the only thing warm/hot on my plate. The baked potato was hard, cold, and had unmelted cheese and hard clumps of bacon bits thrown on top. Duck was cold and not edible. My son had the kids macaroni and fries. Fries were fresh, but macaroni was cold. Service was good, but every else was terrible. Will not return. read more
