With a pressing installation deadline (my due date), David and the entire team worked hard to get it installed early! Every person knew we wanted it "before baby" and always checked on us too!! We felt cared for and we absolutely love the carpet. It looks fantastic and I couldn't love it more if I tried.

I will be honest up front: This was my only experience hiring someone for flooring. We got quotes…read morefrom multiple places though, and ultimately went with Epstein based on local recommendations, how knowledgeable and friendly they were, and the fact that their price lined up with what I was expecting. One of the quotes we received was from a big box store, and I do not recommend. On top of taking forever to receive, their specialist told us they couldn't do something that Epstein said was absolutely no issue. The two men who came to do measurements for Epstein Brothers were clearly professionals to the point that this was second nature to them - bouncing ideas off of each other on the spot, keeping me in the loop with their suggestions, making sure anything I decided on was something that wouldn't need to be changed down the road (for example, making sure we weren't redoing the downstairs bathroom anytime soon before they custom cut vinyl planks around the existing vanity and toilet). The installer that showed up was incredibly professional, efficient, and even helped my husband move a heavier object to make room for the new carpeting. The salesperson who helped us decide which carpet and vinyl we were going with in the showroom was also incredibly helpful. Not a single person was pushy, and they were all honest and upfront with what was and wasn't a good idea. We will definitely be going to Epstein when we inevitably need to redo the kitchen and upstairs bathroom. They earned a customer for life out of me!

Look no further. This team does the BEST flooring work in CT. We had a complex project to do -…read moremany rooms with wood of different types, colors and sizes and condition and some rooms that needed new flooring. Rob's assessment of the project was spot on. They started the project within 2-weeks of the estimate and were done in less that 1 week. They also helped us find exactly the right stains to match different types of wood, lighting conditions and paint colors. Their custom stains are fantastic. Leo and Miguel are true craftsmen. Their work was very detailed and the final result was fabulous. I cannot recommend them highly enough. Look no further.

The stairs were especially hard hit. Dark stain on our white baseboards and stair risers. Chips that need to be filled in and repainted. Repairs that are going to take days. Could the damage have be prevented? You bet it could have. In talking to Rob just now it was as if I was talking to a completely different person than the Rob that came out and "sold" the job. Was the work to the floors wonderful? Yes. Could the damage to the woodwork have been prevented? Yes. Did Rob listen to my suggestions about how to lessen or prevent the damage in the future? No. Did Rob offer to help repair the damage? No. Am I interested in referring Rob and Company? sadly, I can't - in light of Rob's highly argumentative behavior and unwillingness to see things from his customer's (me) perspective, I cannot give a thumbs up. Sorry, Rob, You can and must do better.

"Gimme three steps, gimme three steps, mister Gimme three…read moresteps towards the door?" (Lynyrd Skynyrd) After we had our hardwood floors and steps sanded and refinished, we decided to pretty up those steps with a carpet runner, which explains why we visited Galaxy Discount Carpet Store today. That decision ended up being a FIVE STAR experience. Their two floor showroom is just incredible! Sample boards, rolls stacked on the floor in rows, area rugs hanging from the ceiling, gorgeous stuff everywhere. We met with Charlie and explained to him what we were looking for. He said that staircase runners can either be pre-manufactured in big rolls, or custom cut from carpeting meant for rooms. We knew we wanted a runner in some shade of gray to complement our wall color, and decided on a carpet runner to be cut from a big grayish roll and then finished with black binding along the edges, to complement the black stair rail and contrast with the white stair risers. It was installed 72 hours later, and that was pretty amazing in it's own right. Communication with Galaxy was great. Charlie was a dream to work with, the installers called us the day before install to confirm the date and time window, and the van with two workers arrived as scheduled mid-afternoon and did a neat professional job on the install. Charlie's price was $140 less than one we had from a flooring company out in our neck of the woods, and the carpet quality was better at Galaxy. Everything went well, and the stairs look great!

How could one project go so well and the second project end in disappointment?…read moreThe first hardwood floor installation in June 2025 was professional, no dust and job clean up was thorough, it was flawless. It went so well I decided to do another room. Two different workers came this time, July 2025 & asked where my 220 plug was. The worker plugged his wires into my dryer machine plug. I questioned why there was no plug on his machine only wires coming out & he said "it's ok" when they began to sand my new smoke detectors were blaring & I come upstairs to one worker standing in my living room, far from the room they were working on with a mask on in a cloud of dust saying "sorry, something wrong with the machine" and my smoke detectors were put into a bathroom. As a professional they should have prevented the dust from circulating throughout my house and if the equipment was faulty it should not have been used. As soon as the dust was circulating throughout the house the equipment should've been turned off until a working replacement was available. Apparently the sander had no vacuum bag attached, in the high humidity the dust settled & adhered to everything inside the house. The fact that the smoke detectors were blaring was additional proof that the workers created a hazardous environment in my house and judging by the layer of dust on my fan blades I used to clear the air my new smoke detectors are probably compromised. Also the baseboard heater was left dangling from the wall & I had to fix the holes from them ripping it off the wall to reattach properly myself. Also worth noting, I have found 2 live cockroaches so far in the rooms that were done. I'm not sure if they were brought in with their equipment or what, but I have never seen previously in my home. I felt my concerns expressed to Brian were not taken seriously and the only apology I received for the second job nightmare was from 2 of his employees and none from the owner of the business. If this happened on the first job, they would never have been hired for the second Job. I have other projects I'm looking forward to do, but will look elsewhere. I would give the first job 4/5 stars, but zero for the second.
