Garden part of the store is great. The equipment repair dept will hold your machine hostage for weeks and overcharge you big time.

Opened up maps to check on Agway's hours today before heading that way and was astounded to see they had a three star rating! These guys are the most awesome, sweetest people I've ever dealt with, and I grew up amid deep Southern hospitality with a 24 acre farm in Louisiana. Now, I've not ever had any service work done because I handle most all needed repairs, but I special order products almost weekly that aren't carried in the store normally, and I pay less than any big box store around. Can't really ask for too much in a farm and feed supply house. Keep on truckin'. read more

Agway of Ellington Power Equipment Service is attached to my favorite gardening store, Agway of Ellington. They are run as two different stores. I go here because I own an John Deere tractor. If you own John Deere equipment, it's the only place to go. They have all the accessories you need at the right price. They seem to specialize in more professional and large equipment, which is not my need. The service is ok, sometimes the staff is a bit gruff and unrefined. read more

They took my tractor in for service on 4/10. As of 4/27 still have not heard back from them. It was a normal annual tune up. At the time of the appointment they never once indicated it would take a considerable amount of time. I have called three times with no call back from the service department. All this while spring is here lawn continues to go and three weeks is needed to complete a basic maintenance request. No follow up, no communication from them. Very disappointed in this experience. read more

Everything seems higher priced here. Besides that I got a false diagnosis on my riding lawn mower. I had a piece of debris caught in a pulley and bought two different replacement belts from Amazon that broke. They sent a repair man to my house and he said the belts were breaking because they were cheap belts. So I ordered an expensive belt taking his advice and it broke in about one minute. When he came over to look at it I asked him if it had a bad pulley. All bad I said. Yeah all bad. When I asked him how much to fix it he said it would be at least $500 for three hours work at $100 an hour. TO FIX A LAWNMOWER??? This estimate was given while standing in my driveway without even looking at it other than reaching his hand underneath and feeling something. That was his home diagnosis??? I think it is actually a clutch that needs to be fixed since i didn't see any problem with the pulleys and I'm out another $45 for my third belt thanks to this backyard mechanic. I'll change this post if I'm wrong but I doubt I will need to. read more

Most everyone is very nice here, including the pleasant staff in power equipment. They're open on Sunday, but don't go if you want advice on power equipment because the weekend guy is surly and unhelpful. Seems like when one is selling merch worth hundreds or thousands of dollars, somebody knowledgeable should be available. read more

I don't like visiting this location. I prefer the Manchester location. This location has a slim selection compared to Manchester and the staff is always rude. Especially the short older lady with glasses; if you hate your job just quit. read more

I misplaced a pair of a good pair sunglasses while at the Ellington Agway. I retraced my steps and Martha helped me look for them as well. No luck. I left my phone number with Martha with the hope the sunglasses would turn up. Lo and behold! Two weeks later, I received an email from Terri stating that Cara had found my sunglasses! Both Martha and I had looked where they were found. I was totally shocked. I thought for sure I'd never seen them again. Suffice it to say that my faith in humanity has been restored! The staff at Agway has always been excellent and clearly they continue to raise the bar with customer care in so many ways! Many thanks to all the staff at Agway. Love that place! Now to the person who decided to return them. I so appreciate that you did the right thing, the kind thing. I don't know who you are, but know that I truly appreciate what you did! I never thought I would be the type of person that would shop at Agway. Sure, I have a little garden I maintain in the spring/summer but its not a huge passion of mine. However, within the last year I realized they sell pet food. I feed my dog specific food and prefer to have somewhere close by to get his food. I also don't like shopping at the large chain pet stores because they don't really sell what I want and often are more expensive. Not only do they sell pet food, they have a large selection of toys and other pet supplies. Additionally if you sign up, you get $5 coupons after spending $200 and will get really good coupons in the mail. $10 off $50 on expensive dog food...Yes, please! read more

I'm a big fan of Ellington Agway. They are friendly and helpful, from giving gardening advice to helping me find the right food for my dog (and then loading it in my car for me). The power equipment staff was very thorough in showing me how to use and maintain the backpack blower I bought last year (couldn't be happier...check out the Stihls). This is a great family owned lawn and garden center that cares enough to get to know their customers...you won't find that at any box store. read more

I had my snowblower serviced here earlier this year and after a few storms I can say that they did a terrific job repairing it. There were many things wrong with the snowblower. I would bring it here again for service or tune up. It was not that cheap but well worth it. read more

EXTREMELY expensive service center. $300 for an oil change on a Gravely zero-turn mower. Claims it just costs that much. This was with free pick up and delivery. Last year they charge me $550 due to hydraulic fluid needing to be replaced along with the oil change. I only scheduled a typically oil change. Never authorized anything else. They told me this year won't cost that much. $300 for an oil change - on a lawn mower. HIGHWAY ROBBERY!!!! Looking for another service department. Wanted to stay local but not with these prices. read more

Our lawn mower by Troy-Bilt engine blew. We contacted the warranty company and they told us to bring it to Ellington Agway as it was the closest service center to our location. We were told to put a $50 deposit down to look at the lawn mower and left it overnight for service. My husband received a phone call the next morning stating that do to our negligence the lawnmower didn't have enough oil and the engine blew; and would not run. The service person then stated that it would not be covered under warranty and he abruptly hung up. When the engine blew on the lawn mower the oil spewed all over the engine, where there was barely any oil left in the mower. I spoke with one of the managers the next day, Hugh, and he assured me he would look more into the situation and see exactly what was going on; as the mechanical record was not detailed, per Hugh. Today he called my husband again and stated the same thing. We are super responsible people who always monitor any and all of our equipment's or vehicle's fluids. My husband was a mechanic and was well educated in these matters. I feel like our needs in this matter were not meant and the way they handled the situation was very unprofessional. We ended up picking up the lawn mower and my husband was able to start it up; even though Ellington Agway stated that it would not start. Unfortunately they had already called the warranty company amd stated we were at fault... there goes $300 (+) down the drain on a lawn mower that was only used for one season thanks to the lying employees at the service center! I will NEVER do any buisness with Ellington Agway again, and will continue to tell family and friends about how unprofessional and criminal this business is! So disappointed... read more

Totally upset with Agway's service repair department. Brought my tractor in for a gas pedal belt replacement (simple repair). The technician called with an estimate of all the belts and the engine needing to be rebuilt (did not ask for the engine to be looked at). I approved the belt work and was puzzled by the need to rebuild engine. It was working fine when I delivered it to them. After getting the lawn mower back the engine is now running awful. There is smoke and it is periodically stalling out. I don't understand why, since I never had a problem with the engine before. I called Agway to ask what they did to the engine, and they only refereed back to the estimate. This gave me no satisfaction as I may have to buy a new mower. I will no longer be an agway customer. read more

Today was my first time at ellington agway. I strolled in looking to buy a chainsaw. I spoke with STEVEN at the service counter and he was very helpful. I told him my needs and he helped me through the process of purchasing a Stihl chainsaw. He also advised me if i buy the synthetic engine oil it extends my warranty by 1 year! i was thrilled. I walked out with a chainsaw, Protective case and 6 pack of oil for 220 bucks. What a score! Also on my way out i grabbed 2 20 lb bags of cat litter for 7 bucks for my kitty, I will make that a more frequent stop for my outdoor equipment needs. Thanks read more
