We door dashed Joe's. They cooked it so fast, really pleased with the taste of the cheese. There were some black burn spots on the bottom of the crust, but it didn't taste too burnt. Came here to enjoy a few slices with my tour guide. It wasn't packed (Monday afternoon) but it is clearly a popular spot. My tour guide had ordered a large cheese "pie" and it was HOT. Joe's Pizza is on borrowed time. I wouldn't be able to tell Joe's from any other $1.50 slice in the city. This slice flops badly, there is no structure, no crisp bottom. It's a mushy mess. That quintessential orange hue that is so common of a true NYC slice is nonexistent. Even with a hefty dollop of oregano, garlic, & pepper, every bite of this slice was bland. I happened to stumble upon Joe's on a random night. I'll admit, I was originally trying to go to John's of Bleecker nearby. However, I was alone and John's only sells whole pies and no slices. So I came back over to Joe's as I saw there was a pretty solid line so I figured it had to be pretty good. Important thing to note is that the place only takes cash (luckily there's an ATM outside if you need) and is the type of place that appreciates when its customer knows exactly what they want, at least that was the vibe I got from it. The line moves fairly quick for that reason and for the fact that their menu is very simple. They have your usual toppings such as cheese and pepperoni. They also have a mozzarella pizzas and some Sicilian offerings. I know they have other locations but the West Village one is pretty small and can get packed, especially when there's a line. It's not uncommon to share tables and condiments with people. The pizza itself was very good. The cheese had a good saltiness and tanginess. Their pepperoni had a good meaty flavor that went well with their cheese. The experience may vary depending on the slice you get and how long it's been out. Few of my slices came out a bit floppier than expected and didn't have that nice crisp to it on the bottom of the dough. Perhaps if you order a fresh pie, it might be different. Overall though, I'd come back if I was in West Village again and looking to have pizza. read more

Yes this place accepts cash only but they will tell you where the nearest ATM is. And you should because if you want some tasty, crispy and cheesy goodness pizza, Joe's the place. It's such a nice experience to go to Joe's if you've grown up a Spiderman fan. Took a trip to NYC and knew I had to go to Joe's. It opens at 11am just beware, Apple Maps will say 10am. Ah Joe's -- a timeless NY slice. Our mistake was coming here after eating slices at L'Industrie a couple blocks over. The prices are the same as L'Industrie, but there's quite a gap in quality. The pizza is fresh, but was overall just too dry: from the sauce, the cheese, down to the crust. There's a fine line between the crust being crisp and overbaked/crunchy, and the slice at Joe's fell in the latter bucket. No line around noon on a Monday, so service was quick. Cash only. I do appreciate that they heat up the slice for you, but that might also contribute to it being too dry. Limited standing room inside. Joe's holds a special place in my heart as it was one of the first slices I had in NY when I lived on the East Coast, and I thought it was amazing back then. I placed an order online for pickup and arrived around 7:30 PM. Everyone inside was friendly and helpful, and I appreciated that the pizza was ready right away and scorching hot when I picked it up. Unfortunately, by the time I got home it had cooled down to lukewarm. My friends and I tried reheating it in the oven, and while that helped with temperature, I'm not sure if it altered the flavor, because overall the pizza just felt underwhelming. We ordered a regular large pepperoni pizza. Size-wise, it was definitely big enough to share, but for $30, I really don't think it was worth it. The flavor just wasn't there. The pepperoni didn't add much seasoning or punch, and while the cheese had a decent pull, the taste was very flat and didn't leave me wanting more than a slice. Nothing about it stood out as special, and compared to other pizza places I've tried, it lacked the richness and balance you expect from something at that price point. The portion was fine for a group, but when you're paying $30 for a large pizza, you expect it to have strong flavor and feel like a satisfying splurge. Classic NYC dicey slice shop in the west village. That means get a slice and people watch. It's not perfect 10 pizza but it's very convert busy with an excellent sauce excellent dough and perfect bake. The staff are very well experienced in slinging out pizza. They are professional. Prices are fair considering the rent is probably 70 percent of their profit. Recently noticed more new establishments opening on the block and hybrid foot traffic is thanks to this pizza joint. I'm so happy that I found this spot when looking for pizza in the West Village! I didn't realize how famous Joe's is, and I guess there's lots of back and forth on if it's true NY-style pizza.. I do think that the pizza I was served is more reminiscent of a NJ-style pizza which is less floppy and more crispy.
