I know Prince Street is right around the corner, but I feel like Champion Pizza may be better? Came here after shopping around in Soho and it was nice to get 3 pizza slices for $16 which is quite unheard of. - Bacon Pineapple - Large chunks of bacon with large chunks of pineapple, what isn't there to love. I also appreciate that they always give you huge side pieces and honestly 2 people can comfortably share 3 pizzas. - Truffle Mushroom - I was a HUGE fan of this pizza and the main reason why I would give this place a five stars. Although I didn't taste much of the truffle flavor on this pizza, the mushroom were delicious as they were thick cut and gave the pizza so much flavor. It also felt like they marinated the mushroom in some pickled juice before that, so there was a slight sour taste which went well with the heavy cheese. I seriously cannot recommend this pizza more. Overall, very solid pizza place. I have to do a side-by-side taste test between Champion and Prince Street, but right now maybe Champion is the champion (haha sorry I had to). read more

I first heard of Champion Pizza, believe it or not, from one of my drivers of the X27 express bus. It was Xmas Eve and I was riding into the city to meet friends for dinner. My driver, when asked, what his favorite pizza shop was, he replied, "Champion Pizza!". " The best". Well, as you can guess it's pizza cheat time and I noticed Champion Pizza was about a ten minute walk from work. I decided due to a very Spring like day, it was a good idea to eat outside. I entered the shop and there was a small line that moved rather quickly. The shop is small and seating is limited. Of course patrons are hearing the words we on line all want to hear " Chicken Bacon Ranch slice ready!" "Lasagna slice ready"! I wanted a Margherita slice and ordered it and watched the server slice it from the pie that was there on display. I found a seat and reflected on important pizza perspectives: "Was my slice from a pie that came out of the oven not too long ago?" If not "How long was it there?". See what happens when you're hungry you forget these important aspects of pizza ordering! Too late now because "Margherita slice ready!" I went to pick up and of course it was hard to reach the plate that was in the air waiting for my hands to reach... I went to my table and stared at my slice: it was square, on thin crust flatbread, nice portion of basil, not too saucy... now the important part, that first bite... Rolling pin sound please... it was just good... not great. The taste of sauce, cheese and basil were very good but it didn't knock my socks off. All I can say it is very tasty pizza but I prefer a focaccia crust versus flatbread. I guess being a Brooklyn pizza sort of snob, all pizza is measured to the Brooklyn standard.
