Fake syrup

Well 2 years later they did include butter on my pancakes. The original buttermilk is the best choice and these were hot, fresh and rank highly on the list. Smuggle your own maple syrup in if possible. Places that can't give you real syrup will never get 5 - stars. Ths syrup helps make the pancakes shine.

Best pancakes and bacon ever ! The waitress, which my wife and I got, was the young lady with short blonde hair. She was nice friendly and gave the right amount of attention as my wife and I dined. The owner also walks around and is very friendly. The vibe is cool and they definitely have some of the best food you will ever taste in the Phoenix area.

This little gem is hiding in the Pierson Place Historic District is a must visit for those who enjoys a relaxing and delicious breakfast. I have been in many countries and tried a diversity of local dishes, and this place just went to the top of my list for breakfast in Phoenix area. I had the chicken fried steak with pancakes. So yummy. To make extra special, they have their own jam. Ask about their Joe's Homemade Jam! The service is great. Thanks for Carrie and Kenny for making us comfortable.

Friends, First time here. Sunday morning rush, waited only about 20 minutes. Makayla our server was super sweet and made great recommendation, was very attentive during the entire dining experience. The food came out, a few errors. Waffle was su-par, not crisp on the outside. Some of our dishes were cold. My plate with over medium eggs came with eggs over-easy....super runny. I had ordered them over medium with no runny white. The dish was taken back to re-prepare. All my guest had already finished eating and my dish still had not come out, so I cancelled. The team was apologetic about the long wait to make on the fly, but, the service here was fast friendly. Food was what can be expected of breakfast food, not much wow factor. Grade: Solid C+ Makayla's service: A+

Great local breakfast place in Melrose. The food was pretty good and the service was great. Our waitress was very friendly and took care of some substitutions we needed due to food allergies. The restaurant has a cozy, home vibe and the dishes feel very homemade. We tried the Border omelette and they were nice to substitute turkey instead of Ham. Their croissant turkey club was also pretty good and I liked the seasoned fries a lot. The pancake was a little doughy, but it wasn't bad once we tried it with syrup. Overall not a ball place for some good breakfast. We also took a cinnamon roll to go and look forward to trying it later! The place is a little older and doesn't feel modern but it just adds to the charm of this location. Definitely prefer this place to other breakfast places in this street. There's also plenty of parking around the restaurant and in the back.

Plain Omelette, Short Stack with Blueberries and Lemon Curd, 1 Biscuit and Gravy

I feel like an absolute fool for sleeping on this delicious diner. We just moved to the neighborhood and decided to finally prioritize it. We got some more simple dishes to get a good sense of the quality of food: Plain omelette add cheese (we did pepper jack) - very good and moist. It's surprising how often a simple dish can be ruined. Blueberry lemon curd pancakes - absolutely phenomenal. The pancakes are great without the curd and even more elevated with it. Highly recommend. Biscuit and gravy - jaw dropping delicious. Everything is so good here! Our server was Christine - she was an absolute delight. Made sure my coffee was full the whole time. The place itself is everything I expect in a diner. Reminds me of home in upstate NY. Absolutely love how it feels like everyone feels at home here. Would come back again and again.

If you love diner food then this is the place for you. I got the classic breakfast with eggs, bacon. Potatoes and they are known for their pancakes so I got that as well. The pancakes was nothing special to me. Tasted like one you make at home. Not bad just nothing special so big flavor. The potatoes were good but very salty ( I like salt but this was a bit much) bacon was also very salty but you do get a lot with your order. Eggs had no seasoning so at least it wasn't salty. I don't think I will try this place again but I can see how it's a go to breakfast: lunch spot for people. I think it's over priced but I also know food is expensive these days. Service was nice everyone was friendly

First time. Pass it all the time. Arrived afternoon on a Tuesday. Place us bigger than I thought. Grabbed booth. Greeted and offered beverages. The coffee smelled wonderful ... and a Coke for husband. Decided on breakfast. I just got the eggs and bacon. Came with potatoes and choice of toast. I also asked for the Cara Cara jam. Omg the selection of homemade jam is amazing. Husband got eggs and banana/pecan pancakes. Yes.. he asked or real maple syrup Everything was wonderful. I can't wait to come back for lunch. Oh and it was spotlessly clean!!

The chocolate egg cream, which contains…read moreneither egg nor cream (the audacity), sounds like something a seven year old invented during a fever dream. It was gone in five minutes and I would have licked the glass if my husband wasn't watching. I also had a cherry phosphate, and if you have never had a phosphate, I am genuinely sorry for your loss. I have been a fan since my first one at Aglamesis Bros in Cincinnati, and this one brought back every bit of that sour, tangy, cherry nostalgia. Order both. Alternate sips. You're welcome. The Reuben was a heavy hitter. Corned beef so tender it practically dissolved, sauerkraut quiet enough to stay in its lane while still adding a nice salty backbone, and I had the good sense to ask for extra thousand island for dipping. That was a power move and I stand by it. My husband had the meatloaf sandwich special, which was so good I spent the rest of the meal in quiet mourning over my own ordering choices. Absolutely outstanding, no notes. The potato salad he got as his side was excellent too, which only added to my suffering. Now. The sides. The fries are mandatory. Hot, fresh, crispy outside, perfectly smooth and creamy inside, and tossed in some seasoning I cannot identify but will be thinking about for the next several weeks. Critical note: put the ketchup down. It clashes with the seasoning in a way that will disappoint you. Get a side of mayo instead and dip accordingly. Genuinely life changing. The Hawaiian coleslaw, on the other hand, is a trap I walked into so you do not have to. Sweet coleslaw is already a divisive concept, and this one doubles down with chunks of pineapple thrown in for reasons I can only describe as chaotic. If tropical fruit in your coleslaw is your thing, go for it. If you have any savory coleslaw loyalty whatsoever, order literally anything else. The ambiance is pure nostalgia, antiques everywhere you look, sandwiched on both sides by an antique shop, which is fitting because this whole place feels like a time capsule in the best possible way. And for my fellow vinyl collectors, this is a hidden gem. I turned around approximately six times and found a new box of records every single time. I did not come here expecting to go digging, but I am absolutely coming back to do exactly that. Apparently I cannot go anywhere without finding another way to spend money on albums. No regrets, this place has great taste in more ways than one.

To hear her reminisce about those times long ago was awesome and to have her say that this place hasn't changed much was equally as awesome. Probably not going back to Dick's…read more.. We were visiting both Phoenix and Scottsdale with friends and decided to meet up at Dick's Hideaway for dinner after hearing good things. There were six of us, and we were quoted a 45-minute wait, which seemed reasonable at first. However, their system for managing waits is honestly pretty frustrating. There are no reservations, no text notifications, and no call when your table is ready. You're basically left hovering and guessing. We did make it back in time for our table, but a simple "hey, your table's ready" system would go a long way in making guests feel valued. We were seated around 8 PM after waiting and taken to a large corner booth in the back. Unfortunately, there were still two people from the previous party lingering at the table even after they had paid and the rest of their group had already left. I understand finishing drinks, but it felt inconsiderate given how busy the restaurant was and how long people were waiting. After being seated, it took about 15 minutes before anyone came to our table, and even then, not everyone in our group was acknowledged right away. Things didn't improve much from there. It took over 30 minutes just to place our food order. From what we could tell, there was only one server handling the entire restaurant. I can definitely empathize with how difficult that must be, but at the same time, when we first arrived, she appeared to be standing near the entrance rather than actively managing tables, which added to the confusion. When the food finally came out, it was very staggered instead of arriving together. I ordered the Taos tenderloin with green beans and fries. The sides were actually great--probably the highlight of the meal--but the steak itself was disappointing. I ordered it medium, but it came out with an overly charred, almost burnt crust that completely overpowered the flavor. The whole dish really needed basic seasoning like salt and pepper to bring it together. The atmosphere also didn't do much to help the experience. It's extremely dark inside--so much so that it's hard to see your food--and the space feels cramped. The layout is also pretty strange and honestly a bit off-putting. There's what appears to be a kitchen area right behind the bar, and then a full kitchen in the back--but what really stood out was the lack of separation near the restroom area. There's no proper door between the kitchen and the bathroom space, and from a small step down off the dining area, you can basically see straight into the kitchen if you wanted to. It just didn't feel very private or well thought out. Another thing that stood out was the portion sizes. While some people might see that as a positive, they were honestly too large--especially for those of us traveling who couldn't take leftovers with us. Slightly smaller portions might not only reduce waste but also help the kitchen keep up with demand and improve overall service speed. Overall, this ended up being more of a one-time experience than a place we'd return to. Between the disorganized wait system, slow and inconsistent service, and underwhelming food, it just didn't live up to the expectations we had going in.
