I came to Pasadena Periodontics to have laser gum surgery. Carol welcomed me to the office the moment I walked in. I was nervous during my consultation, and Josalynne (spelling?) was great and told me a little about the lanap procedure. Viria was really helpful with my insurance, and financial situation. Christine helped me once I came back for the procedure. She even convinced my wife to get me a milkshake afterwards! And Dr. Henriod was awesome! He took the time to answer ALL of my questions, and gave me post procedure advice for a great recovery. I am TERRIFIED of dentists, needle etc. so I opted to have IV sedation. I went in, got a pain free "poke" , we talked about crossfit for 2 minutes.....sleep....sleep.. time to go home. Great experience. I was referred to Dr. Miller's office by my dentist because I had a small area where my gumline was receding and he thought I would need tissue grafting. Ugh. So when I went to set up a consultation, it turned out Dr. Miller is somewhat retired (I believe) and his schedule is limited, so the receptionist set me up with the other periodontist in this office, Dr. Joel Henriod. Dr. Henriod is wonderful. He is very nice, very attentive, and very knowledgeable. Now it's gum surgery, so it's not exactly like I am going to be jumping over the moon about my experience, there's always going to be some level of discomfort or pain involved. But by following Dr. Henriod's instructions I seemed to heal pretty quickly and only had to stick to soups and very soft foods for a little over a week. He is also very diligent about setting you up with regular checkups to see how well you are healing. read more

Doctor Miller has been my dentist since he arrived in Rancho Mirage. He has worked wonders on my agressive periodontal disease. His help has allowed me to maintain my mouth in the best condition possible. My perio problems started when I was twenty years old, I'm now 30 years into periodontal treatments. I strongly recommend the Miller & Henriod dental office. I had two extractions done by Dr. Miller who also cleaned the infected areas where the teeth were. In one case, Dr. Miller used a laser. In both cases, my gum infections were cleared up. Dr. Miller extracted the teeth in a non-traumatic way in order to protect the bone. The result is that I am able to have dental implants. If I have implants, I will have the implants done at the Miller & Henriod dental office. I had an examination by Dr. Henriod, and I'm sure he is an excellent periodontist. I would not hesitate to have implants done by Dr. Henriod, as well as by Dr. Miller. Dr. Miller listens carefully to the patient's concerns and clearly explains the patient's condition of the teeth and gums, the treatment option(s) and the recommended procedure. Dr. Miller reviews the X-rays with the patient so that the patient understands the issues. I am very pleased with the entire staff - the dental hygienists and dental assistants do excellent work (cleanings, X-rays, etc.) and are pleasant and knowledgeable. My insurance coverages were checked and I received an itemization of the procedures covered by insurance. I'm really disappointed in this place. I had gum recession on one of my big front teeth during my pregnancy and I wanted to get it take care of right away after I had my baby. I did research and based off of the reviews on yelp, I decided to go with Dr. Miller. I've had 2 gum surgeries here, and my gums look worse then before I even stepped into this office. I now have recession on adjacent teeth (UGH). I'm really disappointed. I understand that it cannot be guaranteed but I feel like things were not explained thoroughly, and what was promised did not happen. For example, after the first surgery I had a consultation to discuss the 2nd surgery. I was told that they would do a graft (I wish this was done the first time). I went into the 2nd surgery prepared to be extra sore from the graft, and guess what, for whatever reason they did not do a graft. This is just one example, but I feel like the Dr is forgetful. I have since gotten a second opinion from a different periodontist and they advised that I need a deep cleaning done because my gums are very red and not healthy enough to proceed with a 3rd surgery. After this new consultation I cancelled my 3rd surgery with Dr. Miller. I just feel like I cannot trust them. Its obvious my gums are not healthy, but why would he even be okay with going moving forward with a 3rd and even 4th surgery like he had advised. I really want to give this place 0 stars, but the 1 star is only because the staff and doctors are friendly and have good bedside manners. Now I have a big problem on my hands and I need to find someone that can fix the problems that this office gave me. read more

Though surgery on my upper gums was not something I looked forward to, I had procrastinated long enough and the recession was becoming aesthetically and structurally concerning to me. Referred to Dr. Henriod by my dentist, Kenneth Ho, I was welcomed to his office by friendly receptionists and assistants. Dr Henriod was very congenial and kind, answering all my concerns and giving me unlimited time. His assistant during the procedure was wonderful and expressed her great confidence to me about Dr Joel's expertise and his love for performing gum surgery. (Gotta love a doctor who loves his work that much!) I did have some infection brewing on the fifth day of recovery but the office and Dr made time for me, gave me an antibiotic, and called me at home to see how I was faring. I am 10 days into my post-surgical healing, and the results are already so encouraging. My gums look twenty years younger! :) and I no longer see the gum recession that once was so obvious. Dr Henriod and all the supporting staff are absolutely amazing, friendly ,courteous ,efficient, knowledgeable and supportive. After years of neglect I was in really bad shape and had resigned myself to a life of dentures but Dr Henriod had another plan he talked me through all my options and really gave me hope again. I had dreamed of being a motivational speaker but really didn't see how that could realistically happen with my dental needs. Unfortunately I was unlucky enough to trust these lying thieves. I was charged 3,000 dollars by miller for laser treatment that turned out to be nothing more than a fraud and a scam. It took him less than one hour to do this so called treatment. When he was through he quickly left the room and I was left with his assistant who gave me a slip of paper and a bottle of antibiotics and shown the door. What I ended up with was a large piece of my gum burned off and 3,000 dollars that I barrowed gone, or I should say stolen by dr. miller. When I complained about the condition of my gum his answer was they would give me a free cleaning. So I would just like to warn anybody who finds their website that they are nothing more than scam artists. read more

Dr. Henriod and his staff are just the best. Since my gums had become so bad and they hurt all the time and bled when I brushed, I did not want to see the dentist. Finally, when I got up the courage (I had not seen the dentist in 6 years), I went to see Dr. Andy Kau, he referred me to Dr. Henriod, and thank goodness, Dr. Henriod is very special, he sat down and explained everything in detail that needed to be done to save my teeth, I was adamant that we had to save my teeth and I just wanted to have my teeth polished. He took into consideration all my needs and worked with my fear of needles, particularly the novacaine shot and working in my mouth. Also, the administrative staff was really good at working with my budget and what my insurance would accept. All the details were discussed from my mouth health to my finances, this helped so much and eliminated all anxiety and stress. The result, Dr. Henriod has saved my teeth, he performed the LANAP surgery on my gums and the results are amazing, I don't have anymore pain in my gums, in fact, I even forget about them, it used to be my gums would hurt so bad throughout the day and night, there was not any relief; today, I never have gum pain, I don't bleed when I brush and now when they measure my gum pockets they are 2's and 3's, not 9's and above. This is just sooo fabulous, and I love going to see the hygienist there, her name is Katherine, she is so gentle and meticulous. I feel like I am getting a second chance with my oral health, and my teeth have been saved! I couldn't be happier, Dr. Henriod and his team are truly incredible! I recommend them highly! read more
