Had the best drink here this weekend. First time, ordered the Dirty Chai over ice. It came with an edible little flower and was really delicious. I drank it slow to savor it. Finally finding a cute coffee shop in my area was the best! I had driven by several times and there was always a line in the morning so I figured it must be good. I check the reviews and all good things. So one day when I finally had a few extra minutes I stopped by. The owners were both there. They were extremely kind and helpful when deciding. I loved that they also offer cookies, pastries and THE BURRITOS.... Oh those yummy burritos are perfect. As a Hispanic, this is how we would make them at home. Small quick bites that are full of flavor and easy to eat on the go. I digress, back to the star of the show, the coffee! I first tried the Vietnamese iced coffee which was perfect for this tired mom of 2 who runs a small business. Then I got hooked on the iced mexican mocha for a long time. Not sure what Mexican chocolate they grind up in there but it's delicious. And recently I tried the Banana pudding latte and holy guacamole its perfection in a drink! Not too sweet and so well balanced with notes of cardamom and a cold foam that seeps into the drink making it one of the best tasting lattes I've ever had! Please do yourself a favor and go try the banana pudding latte before it's gone. I really hope this goes from seasonal to a permanent drink on their menu because it's so worthy. read more

Where to even begin... Joehns has easily become my favorite coffee shop of all time. From the welcoming atmosphere of the shop itself, to the delicious coffee, to the unforgettably kind owners Joe and John. Joehns is very involved with its community, including custom made artwork, sculptures, mugs--that alone makes you feel like you are a part of something, a part of San Diego, a part of Joehns! I cannot conclude this review without discussing how overwhelmed with appreciation I am with the owners. We spoke with John as we learned more about the shop, and he gave us Happy Beans, a sort of lucky bean or a talisman, which I will undoubtedly carry with me as a reminder to be the kindness I saw in John. I finally got the opportunity to stop by, and I am beyond happy that I did! This coffee shop was a breath of fresh air. I think we've gotten used to apathetic service and expensive coffees, but this shop is breaking the pattern. Immediately upon walking in, I was warmly greeted and asked if I had any questions. I love not feeling rushed to order and like me actually liking my choices matters. I opted for the cinnamon honey latte, a mini burrito, and a spinach pastry. The entire ordering process was great! Sometimes I feel a little timid to make small talk, but I received nothing but kind vibes as we chatted. If I'm being honest, I usually feel let down when I buy a coffee and end up not drinking much of it - then the cycle repeats. But I am being SO honest when I say this coffee is my new favorite! It's subtly sweet with small bursts of cinnamon, a smooth taste, and is well presented. The mini burrito and pastry were great as well! I needed a pick-me-up while working and this did just that. I saw quite a few people working inside, which I can understand because it's very cozy and well decorated inside. If I wasn't working, I might've enjoyed my drink and food in-house. It's not often that you leave a coffee shop on a HIGH because the owner was so so kind and made our first visit here so special. I came here with my sister, i ordered an iced vanilla latte and she got a honey cinnamon latte. Immediately, the coffee was amazing and we loved it and knew that we would be coming back. However, our experience only kept getting better as one of the owners, John, started making conversation with us and we quickly found out how special this place truly is. He takes great pride in making it a perfect place for the community and incorporates a lot of cute and personal details in every corner of the coffee shop. We had a great conversation and he ended up giving us cute "happy beans" which immediately made us happy. AND THEN, as we were leaving, he stopped us and told us to pick out a bouquet each to take home with us, for free! 20/10 stars all around experience. We left this place on cloud 9. Joehns is a very nice coffee shop, not your typical coffee spot you may be used to in San Diego. You feel a nice vibe of home and comfort when you enter, plants and lots everywhere and lots of friendly faces. It feels like you're visiting your favorite uncles or aunt's house. The gentlemen who took our order was very nice and offered glass and ceramic mugs for our coffee, which are always a huge plus when experiencing coffee for me, I love that and I wish more coffee spots provided that instead of typical plastic mugs. Our jalapeno and cheddar bagel was made by their neighbor at home and it was delicious, it was served with cream cheese and jelly on the side. The iced latte was solid, it was good and refreshing and it got the job done. My mom's Americano was delicious she said, nice and strong and served hot. This place is awesome!! I tried the iced cinnamon honey latte and the iced Vietnamese coffee and both were absolutely delicious. Their coffee is nice and bold and the atmosphere of the place was very homey. The staff is attentive and very nice. They have some really cool merchandise, pastries and coffee for sale to brew at home if you wanted. There is ample seating indoor and out, free WiFi and there was some calm indie music playing too. This coffee shop healed my nervous system. The atmosphere is calm and friendly. The staff were super pleasant and genuinely appeared to enjoy what they do! I ordered a shot of espresso (2oz) and a pastry for $11 (including a tip). Their espresso was strong and smooth, I loved it. Trying to find me a good matcha and I found one. This place isn't known for the matcha but you know when the matcha hits your blood and veins? That's how the matcha feels here. This place is so unassuming and tucked into a shopping center, but the decor is very inviting and does not match the surrounding area. The owner's of the place are such pleasant personalities. I really enjoyed talking with both of them. You don't even need coffee to get a pick me up from this place, just walk in and be greeted by the owners. The coffee was really good too though. The honey cinnamon latte was perfect. I didn't try any of the baked goods but they looked tasty. I talked my buddies baked goods up to them and offered to share some but they politely declined. The decor is incredible and eclectic, they work with a local florist for flowers and lots of plants and mushroom themed decorations inside. It's amazing. This coffee shop is owned by a couple of gentlemen who decided to do something different with their lives, and here you go. The place is very welcoming and comforting. I liked the art and plants that are places in just the right places. That being said, while I was here, I ordered a cortado and oatmeal apricot cookie. They were both around $4 each. The cortado was very well made. It was robust in flavor yet smooth and rich. It was a great sipping coffee to enjoy with some eats or pleasant conversation. The oatmeal and apricot cookie came from a local bakery. It was very good and went well with the cortado. Joehn's offers a variety of baked goods, and they recently added breakfast burritos from a locale vendor. I like the way they are keeping things local. They offer inside and outside seating. A very pleasant little coffee shop with delicious pastry (I had a spinach pastry) and tempting drinks (I had the iced honey cinnamon latte). The decor is charming with potted succulents and art and books and plenty of seating. The music is played at the perfect volume. The line was 5 deep when I arrived, but moved quickly and the drinks came out at a reasonable pace - the owners clearly have a rhythm and are prepared to handle multiple orders. So I managed not to take a picture of my coffee (a St Pattys day special which was superb) or my mini burrito (which I ate so quickly!) but trust me that they were both great! I was distracted by John's warm welcome, Joe's tasty coffee, and the cozy feeling of the shop. It is so clear that their shop is a celebration of community, a safe space for all and a reminder of the good that can come from a corner coffee shop. My coffee came out while chatting with John and I saw him hand deliver other drinks/food to other customers. They clearly care about their space and the people in it.
