I've been here a few times and tried their food as well as their iced coffees, and I have to say if you're a super sweet coffee person then this is your place. However, if you like to taste coffee when you drink it I don't think I would recommend this place. They have great flavors that actually come through when you're sipping, but the iced lattes are overpoweringly sweet (at least to me). The food in my opinion never misses though, filling and tasty! I also love that unlike a few other coffee shops in the area that the inside is spacious and has a lot available seating. The workers also are always so kind and accommodating so I really appreciate that!
Very nice coffee shop. The prices are very reasonable and affordable! I ordered the strawberry malt ice coffee. No strawberry flavor. Just tastes like an iced coffee. There was freeze dry strawberry dust on top I believe.
Definitely one of the better coffee and food spots in all of San Diego. Nice interior, nice ambience, centrally located. Food is amazing, its fresh, delicious and nice sized portions. Service is always amazing and kind. The iced latte was amazing, it was perfectly balanced. Can't wait to return. Thank you Holsem for the great experience.
Every second Sunday morning of the month we meet for coffee. Holsem was new to me, my friend verified it was good before suggesting here. I arrived a few minutes before 9:00am, found street parking a few blocks up. It was almost at full capacity when my friend arrived. Lots of drink selections as well as pastries to nibble on. I decided on the Matcha Mint Latte with oat milk and he ordered the Maui Banana Iced Latte. I grabbed us a table on the front patio. He wait for drinks. Love that the drinks came in glassware. We both enjoyed our drinks. There was a steady flow of patrons moving in and out. Definitely a chic spot for some caffeine. Will be back when I'm in the neighborhood.
On my stroll through the area I decided to pop in for an afternoon coffee. I really loved how clean and polished everything looked upon walking in. I was immediately greeted and asked for a vanilla iced latte. They definitely know how to make a latte here and the overall balance of vanilla and espresso came through altogether. The color of my drink was perfect so even upon receiving it, I knew it was going to be good.
Honestly starting to like this place each time I come! I was craving their Woods Latte but they changed their menu. The options are still pretty unique and good. I ordered the Nordic Blueberry Maple Latte which wasn't too sweet and had a nice blueberry flavor to it. It honestly reminded me of the Blueberry Pancake Latte from Mostra Coffee. Parking can be tough to find and it can get quite busy inside on the weekends but still a nice spot for coffee.
Very friendly staff and good specialty drinks. The space stays pretty busy but they have plenty of seating and the service is fast and friendly. I ordered a Maui Banana Bread latte and a cortado. The latte was really good but the cortado was a little bitter for my taste. I ended up pouring it into my latte. They also offer their specialty lattes in powdered form to purchase which is actually a great deal. It's $9.99 for a bag and it makes 5 lattes. I wanted to try them so I bought one of each flavor. I will update my review after I've tried them.
This is absolutely a staple coffee shop in the heart of North park. You will never go wrong with one of our favorite drinks here, the Banana Bread Cold Brew! * Matcha Rose Latte - 7.2/10 (the matcha here is quite very average. i like the rose flavor as it complements the matcha well, but i feel like the latte itself is a bit watered down. i would opt for a coffee drink instead) * Banana Bread Cold Brew - 9.8/10 (our go-to drink! the banana flavor & the coffee are both strong & is a match made in heaven!)
I got a cold brew, matcha latte, and americano which was all really good. They were bust when I went there and ran out of cup holders so the workers went out of there way and custom made me an excellent cup holder. I highly recommend this spot for coffee or tea. The shop is really clean and sharp looking and very peaceful. There were other customers working on there lap tops and enjoying there coffee
5/5 Vanilla Vienna Cream Latte, so delicious!! Lots of seating but only the outdoor seating was available, which was also great.
I think I've found my favorite coffee shop that I'll be returning to each time I'm in San Diego. I love subtle hints of orange in my lattes so I was super excited to try the orange vanilla latte. It tastes just like the orange blossom latte from a cafe in Philly, KFar, which I LOVE. I found the orange vanilla flavor subtle (my friend said it's a little more "orangey" than one she likes at Bica). I also tried the Maui banana and again, banana flavor is subtle, not an in your face artificial banana flavoring. I didn't have enough time to really chill out but there's plenty of seating and wasn't crowded or loud the few times I went this past week. There's a bathroom, there's a small selection of pastries, and they sell some other packaged snacks as well. What more could you want?
This place really does have the best banana latte. I usually just pick up and go but today decided to stay and chat with a friend. The latte was delicious as always and the sandwich was okay but what stood out the most was the lack of empathy and good service. When we ordered the girl did looked annoyed because we were looking at the menu still trying to decide what to get and there was no line behind us so i don't know why the attitude. Later there was a couple who had ordered a few things and they were dressed nicely like the my had plans after their coffee stop and somehow the girl dropped her coffee all over her and the baristas did not offer her a rag to clean up and just got a rag and cleaned up the coffee spill leaving the girl with huge stains in her beautiful outfit and to top it off the bathroom was out of order so she couldn't even clean up. Good service also runs a business.
This is my favorite coffee shop in San Diego. If someone were to ask me where to get good quality coffee, this is where I would tell them to go! This is the first time I truly felt my love for the taste of coffee blossom. I now understand what coffee connoisseurs mean when they say they know what "good espresso" tastes like. I have tried the sea salt caramel latte, strawberry oat latte, orange vanilla latte, and strawberry croissant. Everything I have tried has exceeded my expectations! I have brought many of my friends here and they've told me that they daydream about coming back. There are many great coffee shops in North Park, but this one is easily the best in the area!

Holsem is wonderful, delicious coffee and matcha! My go-to is the hot mint matcha latte with oat milk, half sweetened The staff is always kind and they sometimes have vegan donuts and cookies which I appreciate as a lactose intolerant person read more
Stopped in for a matcha and ended up getting a pastry as well. The inside is nice, with classic minimalist coffee shop vibes. The pastry that caught my eye was the tomato pesto danish, so I had to order it. Not only was it visually beautiful, but had the perfect balance of juicy tomato, flaky buttery pastry, rich creamy cheese filling, and all finished with the fresh pesto. Honestly, it was one of the best pastries I've ever had. The matcha was okay. It tasted a little watered down, but it wasn't bad. I've definitely had better. I'd come back just for that danish. read more
This is a simple, cozy coffee spot that's great for getting work done or just hanging out for a while. The atmosphere is relaxed and makes it easy to settle in. The service, however, wasn't as warm or welcoming as I had hoped. I ordered the seasonal Banana Iced Latte with the banana cream top. The latte itself was really good, you could taste both the banana and the coffee, and the flavors paired nicely together. The only downside for me was the banana cream top, which was a bit too sweet and overpowered the drink. read more

Holsem: true to its name with a character filled coffee shop. I ordered the cortado and the wood's latte to taste a straight stick beverage and their more unique options. The wood's was interesting with the maple syrup and nutmeg paired with sea salt. I would've liked a little more sea salt. The cortado was solid (naturally, since it came from a La Marzocco). I would definitely go back to try another of signature lattes and a macchiato (the traditional kind) in person. High ceilings, exposed brick, and charming Christmas decorations make this a great place to sit and enjoy espresso. read more

Their banana coffee has to be one of my favorites in San Diego! I love a banana flavored coffee and this would land in top 5. They did the flavor so well and you can actually taste the different parts of the drink instead of the coffee overpowering the other flavors read more
I really love this coffee shop! Great drinks, lots of indoor seating and some outdoor seating. Really into the banana latte with banana cold foam, I think I've gotten it like 3 times now. Definitely a coffee shop you want to visit when you are in no rush, it can get busy during certain hours of the day read more

My friend and I got the Maui Banana Bread Latte and it was one of the best banana lattes we've had in a while! 10/10 recommend, the service was pretty fast I will be coming back to try other items read more
Needed to kill some time while in the area on a Saturday, early afternoon. Was craving some caffeine and a snack, so I went in and ordered their Maui Banana Bread iced latte and an Everything Bagel. The cashier told me that they ran out of the paper covers to make their food, so couldn't serve me food - bummer. I asked about their jar of little Dubai chocolates and how much they were, so she said I could take one for free; score. The Banana bread latte tasted good and gave me the caffeine boost, but the Banana bread flavor wasn't as strong as I would've liked it. Very busy shop with guests working on laptops, but got lucky enough to snag a seat. read more
Delicious coffee and amazing pastries! Tried the almond croissant and fig jam and Brie danish which were both absolutely delicious. The fig jam and Brie was a really fun different type pastry. For coffee had their Nordic Blueberry maple iced latte and it was really tasty. Lots of great menu options too so something for everyone. The baristas were super friendly and the service was very quick! Seating inside has plenty of options and they even have some seating outside for a sunny San Diego day, definitely recommend a visit here! read more

Was in need of caffeine and heard great things about Holsem. Parking was easy in the AM and it's easy to find. Employees were friendly and welcoming. I went with an iced strawberry oat latte. Prices are on par with all other coffee shops. Plenty of places to sit and enjoy your drink and food. My coffee was great, espresso was smooth, flavor was on point and I would stop in again! read more

Really cute coffee shop for remote working! A good amount of seats and fun selection of flavored drinks. I got the strawberry malt latte and it had a nice subtle strawberry flavor that you could taste without being overpowering or too sweet. Can't wait to come back and try the blueberry. read more

The new outdoor seating of Holsem really brightens the place and feels inviting. I love the natural wood table plus the olive green seats. When you walk into Holsem, it feels bright and modern. They have multiple seating choices and usually I don't have any problems asking someone from the bigger tables if I could sit with them. The menu is displayed on the right side of the wall as you walk in. It's more minimal than it used to be. Even my favorite, the strawberry malt latte, wasn't on there the day I went. But worry not, it will be coming back! They also have cold brew, specialty lattes, coffee, pastries, cookies, sandwiches, and tea! The worker greeted us upon walking in and was really nice. I ordered the Iced Orange Vanilla Latte (for here) with Whole Milk. Unlike at other coffee shops, the orange flavor in the latte didn't remind me of drinking orange extract. The flavor was subtle but went well with the latte. I would recommend this drink. I love the ice cubes they had, they were very clear and rectangular-- keeping the drink nice and cold. My friend ordered an espresso, for here. And a hot americano. The espresso didn't come with seltzer, but the ceramic cup it came in was beautiful. It had a nice grip and rim width. The espresso had a lush layer of crema on it. It smelled amazing, I could only imagine how it tasted. I'm usually not the one to order espresso, but seeing that-- made me want one for myself. After finishing the drinks we brought them inside and placed them in a black bin below the counter. Since I've been here before I knew where it was, but for my friend they didn't realize the bin was even there because it kind of blended into the backing of the counter. Overall, Holsem Coffee, is a wonderful place to come to in North Park. The parking spots are usually 1 hour limit in front. I love the specialty coffee choices and even the banana bread cold brew! They have great sandwiches if you're hungry and I'd even recommend snagging a cookie if they have them available. Swing by and try Holsem! read more

Tried the Orange French Vanilla coffee and thought the taste was delightful. It wasn't overly sweet and had a nice hint of orange, which made it a refreshing and unique flavor. I really enjoyed trying something different and look forward to coming back to try other flavors. Parking is very limited. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating, with a variety of different chairs that give the space a unique look. One area that could definitely be improved, however is cleanliness the bathroom was not in good condition. read more
