By far the best place we ate at in Savannah. 10/10 recommend. We were walking back to our hotel and stumbled upon Joe & Vera's. The sign out front said $1 oysters 12-2 and we immediately said yes. We visited Saturday 7/4/26 and the place was lively but not packed, we were able to grab a table in the front by their beautiful windows facing Broughton st. Shorty and Josh treated us wonderfully with incredible service, we never felt like we were inconveniencing them with requests if questions. We ordered a dozen oysters (James River), caviar & chicharrones, the hot dog special, a glass of J. Laurens Blanquette de Limoux and a Mignonette Martini. Wow! Everything was phenomenal! Caleb, the chef, really knows what he's doing and you can tell him and David, the bartender, collaborate on the menu. The oysters come with a perfectly balanced pink peppercorn mignonette which is also used in the martini (must try!!). I've never tried chicharrones and caviar before but will definitely be pairing them together again after this. The hot dog was by far the dark horse, we ordered it partly as a novelty as it is their special. Caleb designed it after a low country boil; pimento cheese slathered in the bottom of the buttered and toasted brioche bun, hot dog perfectly grilled and topped with shrimp, corn, red onions, peppers and steamed potato slices sandwiched between the dog and the bread. We asked a local artist while visiting her gallery where the "locals" go for dinner and drinks and without hesitation told us about this cool joint in Downtown Savannah and it did not disappoint! Friendly,knowledgeable staff,great cocktails and amazing small plates. Uber fresh(and cold) oysters,cucumber salad,smash burger tartar with chips and the best bite of the night the foie gras canapés on toasted garlic bread. We were in Savannah on vacation for the weekend and stopped at joe and Vera's three separate times. They have a great weekend happy hour from Thursday to Sunday 12-2 with dollar oysters. The service there is great, cocktails are great, and food was great too. The foie gras was fantastic, with the toast literally melting in my mouth. Yooooo...I can't even. Digesting and recovering from the good vibes and incredible food and service. But I had to at least punch in 5 stars into yelp because they absolutely deserve it. Best meal I have had all weekend in Savannah, by far. Eclectic menu and creative bites and drinks...come here for a unique but delicious experience. Oyster happy hour?? Say less. This small, cozy new spot along historic Broughton Street has high ceilings, features a perimeter banquette with cocktail tables, bar seating for about 12, and a quaint back room for additional banquette seating. The servers were delightful and willing to help, too! Love a classic cocktail or a creative mix, and you'll find your favorite here. Their pretty Clover Club was lovely frothy egg white with gin, raspberry syrup and lemon - Lightly sweet with a touch of tart- a perfect refreshing summer toddy. Great place with a classy but casual vibe. Service was absolutely stellar and the chef went above and beyond to accommodate my food allergies. We ordered a variety of appetizers and everyone noted the creative, interesting and delicious combinations ( e.g caviar on chicharrones.) When our server noticed I wasn't partaking in any of the starters, he asked if anything was wrong. I gave him my laundry list of unfortunate food allergies and thanked him for his concern. Less than 10 minutes later, chef Jimmy personally delivered individual portions of each item without my allergens. I was absolutely floored by the kind and generous gesture ( especially since it was already a busy weekend evening ) and it's remained one of my favorite meet up spots ever since. read more

Probably the best restaurant in the area. We loved our experience here. It was a little hard to find the place but a mysterious man named Tim told us it was actually just around the corner from what our gps said. He ended up being an amazing host too which was funny because we met him outside of the restaurant first and didn't know who he was (I think he was the owner). But it's really his hospitality that was so enjoyable, the ambiance is also really cozy and refined, and the food and beverages were super well curated and well executed. 10/10! We had an outstanding night out at Joe & Vera's. We travelled to Savannah from Los Angeles to visit family and had reservations at a different restaurant for a couple months. But once we saw Joe & Vera's open the menu and cocktail list just spoke to us so we changed our plans at the last minute. And I tell you, we were so thankful. The quality of service and food was upper tier and if this restaurant was in LA it would be booked out months in advance. We had a few wonderfully crafted cocktails and shared everything from the oysters to the chicharron and caviar, as well as the summer crudo, the bread and mortadella and the beef tartare. We sat the bar and the experience was wonderful with a great playlist, fun and thoughtful bar tenders and great moody lighting. I can't say enough about the experience. 5 out of 5 stars and we can't wait to be back in Savannah just so we can book again. I fully expect Joe & Vera to start getting some serious recognition across the Southern food scene very soon. read more
