Amazingly calm ambiance! The most clean and spacious Korean BBQ we've gone to, and we are from Hawaii. I feel the variety of meats is sufficient. The employees were very helpful and they offer to cook for you as well.

Went after lunch during the week with my family, place has a nice ambiance. They offer both Japanese and Korean food with in table BBQ grilling. I must say we usually go to Fort Lee and Korea town in NYC so our standards are pretty high. The sashimi and sushi boat for two was good and expensive. The spicy pork bulgogi was the same as some Korean restaurants we've been too. The marinated short rib could use more flavor, I only say this because we've had the most succulent, tasty, and tender marinated short rib in Fort Lee and always go there for that dish. The banchans (side dishes) are not as much as you would get in the city or in Jersey. Take note: their dipping sauce is a citrus soy sauce, no the typical sesame oil and salt. Do be careful with your knees if you sit at the BBQ table, since the short table has a big base underneath and you will bang your knees on them. The service was good as the server does cook your food at the table like those in the city. Overall, if you want a good Korean BBQ in the New Windsor area, be sure to check this place out.

Beautiful refreshing place! Decor is absolutely stunning, very modern and inviting. Service has been great every single time and the meals are good, their menu has various options to pick from, something for everyone. There is always parking available,so no issue there. Definitely will keep coming, just keep in mind they are on the slow side when it comes to the meal arriving to the table.

Randomly found this restaurant on a Sunday afternoon, and the sushi menu looked great! A few combination platters available along with Korean BBQ, Kimchi, and teriyaki dishes. Something for everyone. The dining area is pretty chic, a great place for date night. The service was very attentive and don't forget to ask for complimentary tea. I sampled the spider roll, and Q roll, and my mom enjoyed the chicken teriyaki. Will be back sometime for cocktails!

Everything was going fine until I see this on my plate unraveling from the vegetables. Fortunately for me I qualified for a 25% discount on the bill, yay. I won't be coming back there.

We finally found our sushi place! We've been here twice and haven't been disappointed yet. The service here has been great and all the servers are professional and polite. This place is still new but we hope it does well.

tried lunch here and i do like the inside, it's pretty here and has a classy look. The servers pretty quickly got me a table and my drinks, but I have to say i was sort of forgotten for bit till one of servers noticed they did not even take my food order, so glad they made it up. So i got the angry papa roll, man never had a sushi roll that was so filling and like an entree itself. Really it was a great roll for sure and one i would gladly have again. I got the bulgoki, the beef was very tender, and all veggies were just right, I like the little sides they give of kani salad, kimchi and seaweed salad and a bowl of white rice. pretty awesome place and very much worth it.

Had lunch today at Joa Joa and it was amazing! It definitely passed the vibe check. Classy yet laid back and fun. Clean. We enjoyed every minute here. Loved the ambiance. The servers were prompt, very friendly, and courteous. The food itself was delicious and fresh, and definitely worth the wait. We tried the Shrimp Tempura roll, California roll, and the Sweet Potato Tempura Roll. My favorite was the Sweet Potato Tempura Roll. It was the perfect combination of sweet and savory. We also ordered a large chicken fried rice, which was more than plenty to share, and then we had plenty of leftovers to take home. Can't wait to go back and try their other dishes! We'll be back.

Not a bad sushi place! While sushi is a little scarce in this area, Joa Joa is a solid option with a very nice high class Interior and a friendly staff. We went on a Tuesday night and was quite crowded! Had a bit of a wait but there were no idle hands on deck. We got some simple sushi, a crab roll and a sweetheart roll, both were quite good! Not the best sushi I've had but it was all very good and would happily go back for more!

I arrived early....just before 5pm on a weekday and had the place to myself for a little while. It's super clean with wonderful service, and there's k-pop playing on a big screen TV. What else could you want? How about absolutely outstanding food? Yes! I was hangry so I ordered a kimchi pancake and an order of bibimbap (no meat) with extra hot sauce. Before all that arrived, I was surprised and delighted by a perfect salad with amazing dressing that I'd like to bathe in and small cup of friggin' delicious pumpkin soup. My kimchi pancake was the spicy, carb-laden appetizer that I needed with a plentiful side of chili sauce. Then, my sizzling bibimbap arrived and I was thrilled to find purple rice under the fresh, assorted vegetables and fried egg. A side of kimchi and fish cakes accompanied my bibimbap. My iced ginger tea was sweet and a perfect complement to the rest of the meal. I almost polished off everything....loved that purple rice that got nice and crispy in that hot pot. Gochunjang tasted homemade...thick, spicy, savory and slightly sweet. The menu isn't extensive or overwhelming....it's just right. There's a nice selection of Makgeolli, so I got a bottle to take home with me for the weekend. Can't wait to go back when I'm in the neighborhood.

If you check out my posts, we love Korean BBQ. Unfortunately, the meats were all under seasoned. The pork belly was really bland, I tired dipping into the sauces but even that couldn't enhance the taste. My son loves egg soufflé and if you see the picture, this does not compare to the egg soufflés we've been to. Unfortunately, even the kids had a literal bad taste in their mouth. The cooking area was small and the heat not strong enough that after cooking the first 6 half strips of thinly sliced pork belly, we had to wait 7 minutes for the next batch to cook. Yeah, the place does look very deserted but picks up after 7-7:30 pm. Reading other reviews, I'm glad that some people find the place great but for Korean style BBQ and meat flavor, they totally missed the mark. You can definitely improve a lot on this.

This is one of those forgotten time warps into the 1970s or 1980s which exists unabashedly changed…read more... a portal into a cooler and more eclectic time. When I was growing up, restaurants had unique theming and quirks vs. the same pinterest-inspired design tricks that you see today. What looks like an unassuming Japanese style rectangular building on the outside is nothing but inside. You are immediately transported to a (somewhat tacky, in a fun way) Japanese home on the inside with those late 1970s vibes. There are water features, like a small Koi pond, and a waterfall inside, which is full of fake cherry blossom trees and a dimly lit scene, complete with purple Christmas lights. Each nook and cranny is a little different and there are tables and booths set throughout, which are meant to put you in your own little corner of this interesting world of a cartoonish Japanese village. The food can be hit or miss, depending on your order and the delightful cheesiness of the decor matches the menu ... with a lot of classics from the 1980s, including American Chinese/Polynesian inspired appetizers. The eggroll here is the best I've ever had. It's enormous and freshly made. It's not the frozen and fried kind ... you can actually see the soft inner-egg later within its fried shell. It's full of chopped pork and seasoned perfectly. It comes on its own silver warning tray and is more the size of a small burrito than anything you'd pull out of a white cardboard container at a traditional Chinese restaurant. Get the eggroll. The tid bit platter is cool ... retro. The menu states that the crab Rangoon are the original recipe from Trader Vics, where the dish was invented. They are smaller than a traditional crab Rangoon, as we know them, and packed with a much more garlicky taste in their creamy filling. The sliced pork is not the dyed red rubbery strips we are used to ... but actual sliced pork with a nice BBQ taste, even with little sauce used. The fried shrimp was not my favorite, dry and bland. The main courses have a lot going on. Sauces, meat, vegetables. They are pretty big and the sauces seem homemade. The house specialties are unique and prepared thoughtfully, many with exotic flavours or strange combinations you won't find elsewhere. The sushi is also done well ... as if it was a real Japanese sushi chef. The staff is very warm and friendly. From the hostess, who could be a NYC fashion model, and makes an effort to seat each table away from other tables when possible ... to the waiter whom has been there for the decades I've been going there and I don't think I've ever seen him not smiling and laughing in all my trips. They play a mix of music with Martin Denny and Henry Mancini lounge classics being my favourite because it really makes like you feel that you are in a different decade. If you ever wondered what it would be like to dine at a fun place in 1978 ... you won't be disappointed. If you like modern and sterile, steer clear of this place. The Yobo is one of my favorites and I often take the long way, through 287 and 84 back to New England after visiting NY it NJ so I can come here.

I wanted so badly to love this restaurant but unfortunately our experience was a letdown and here's…read morewhy ... Location: 5 Stars- located conveniently off 84 makes it a easy restaurant for meal while traveling. Standalone building with private parking lot. Decor: 5 Stars- nice Japanese decor, love the heavy wooden doors, the seating area with the bar and stone waterwall. Plenty of seating inside the restaurant with visible sushi bar, semi-private room, etc. Menu: 4 Stars- It has a lot of choices. The restaurant does advertise as Asian - Fusion so they have dishes from Korea, Thailand, Japan, Chinese, etc. Some rolls seem to be nontraditional. For example, a standard rainbow roll is basically California roll with various raw meat on the outside, theirs added cream cheese inside (which we are not a fan of). Service: 4 Stars - we came here on a Friday night and it was busy. We were greeted warmly by the receptionist and put our name down for a table. She told us we can wait at the seating area. The seating area also had a bar with seats, we decided to just eat at the bar instead. The bartender was new but she was so sweet. She couldn't answer some menu questions so had to ask. She did seemed overwhelmed and after we ordered, we waited a while (over 45 minutes) to get our food hence I deducted 1 Star here. Food: 2.5 Stars - This is where problem lies. I love food and I love Fusion, with that said, the fusion I experienced was not great. We ordered a brown sugar boba tea, it came quite delayed and was too sweet and the boba was hard and some boba did not cooked all the way so they were chewy. We also had a sushi dinner which came with miso soup, 8 pieces of roll (California roll), and 8 sushi pieces of chef-selected fish. The miso soup was another "fusion" example: as if clear broth mushroom soup had a baby with miso soup, this would be it... Except it didn't work well. My pallet was confused, the miso was overpowered by the ginger taste of the mushroom soup and it was missing seaweed but replaced with mushroom, tofu, and crutons (why?). I even double checked with the bartender to make sure we got the right "miso" soup and she confirmed. The actual sushi plate was ok, nothing to rave about. We also ordered a chicken pad thai. A standard pad thai is a stir fried rice noodle dish with peanuts, veggies, scrambled eggs. It's seasoned with dry seasoning so the dish itself is not very saucy. But their par thai was. A bit too saucy and tangy for us. It eats like a Chinese stir-fried noodles which typically are more saucy plus they also added shredded pork floss on top of the dish, which is a Chinese thing. Another dish that was nontraditional but not done well. All in all, not sure if we will be returning here as the food was disappointing. But perhaps the chef is Chinese and their Chinese dishes would be better?
