We finally made the pilgrimage out to JLB's flagship in Fulshear a couple weeks ago--and let me just say... totally worth the hype We went ALL IN: a BBQ burger, that wild burger-with-chicken-on-it situation (you know the one ), an avocado burger, a couple of patty melts, plus both chicken and beef quesadillas. Oh--and a whole lineup of fried potatoes because obviously we needed options Everything came out stacked, juicy, and basically bigger than expected (bring your appetite or a game plan ). First, I had read several great reviews about JLB and they were the driver for our visit. I'm a big fish and chips fan, so rather than a burger, I opted for the fish, which turned out to be catfish, not cod. My mistake. However, even though the meal looked great when it was served, I soon found out that the catfish was undercooked and raw. The fries, hushpuppy, onion rings, and Texas toast were all acceptable, although very greasy, the raw fish was disgusting. I told and showed our server the raw fish and she did offer to prepare a replacement meal of refund our current version. I recently moved to the area and this restaurant appeared at the top of my Yelp suggestions. When I mentioned it was my first time, the waiter walked me through their fan favorites and I ended up with the bacon cheeseburger. It was hands down one of the best burgers I've had in a very long time, and I've tried a lot of burger places across Texas. The meat is beyond flavorful and their homemade buns are sweet and savory. Oh, and the portions are huge. The burger is two meals for me. Their fries were also good, but when I mentioned that I liked onion rings, they threw in a few with my order to try. Their food is extremely fresh and they truly do have some of the best, juiciest, most flavorful and succulent burgers- and they're also HUGE and at such a great price point- I got the avocado burger. Their fries also came out super crispy, you can tell that they're FRESH French fries- trust me, I love me a good potato and they delivered. Not pictured here- but I also had their wings, and let me tell you, I dove in so quickly and devoured them I didn't even have time to take a picture. Truly, so well coated on the outside, they have mastered the crispy crunch on the outside even with their sauce on top, and super steamy and juicy chicken on the inside. You will not be eating dry wings. Also- hands down cannot forget their onion rings. I was sharing with friends and I'm pretty sure I ate the majority of them- they were so good. Also- if you crave for fair food, you can get them year-round here with fried Oreos, funnel cake fries, you name it. I kid you not, my stomach grumbled as I'm typing this and I'm also salvaging. I noticed that the lady taking the orders was cleaning and clearing tables also. I ended up clearing our own table so we didn't have to wait. The burger was delicious. Fresh half pound patties. The bread is homemade. I was not a fan of their fried items. I had the Cajun wings and they were so bland, no flavor whatsoever. The oil also tasted funny. The fried Oreos were not good either. They have a wide selection of food choices, complete with pictures on their menu. We have had their fish and shrimp combo, both fried London style (think fish and chips with the fluffier "breading") and Cajun style. We prefer the Cajun style more, but that's just a personal preference. It comes with fries, a small side salad, and a piece of toast. Their burgers are delicious and very juicy. They are huge! Like full to-go styrofoam box huge. Plenty to share or save for a smaller meal later. We've also had their churro and, unlike the picture on the menu, it is just one churro stick. Super good, but kinda pricey and not bite sized like the picture so not really shareable. The staff and owners are really helpful and sweet. They've been swamped every time we have visited, but continue to roll food out efficiently and maintained a friendly countenance despite the obvious rush to get everything out quickly. Took a day trip to Houston (from Austin) and heard from so many people to try Joy Love and that it's better than any burger joint in Austin! And it exceeded all my expectations! The service was great and the food was amazing and the portions were huge. One burger could probably last me 2 meals. And idk how they make the bun, but it's probably the best I've ever had! Their burgers are very good, but are monumentally large! Be prepared to go home with a portion large enough for an entire meal. That being said, the food is solid. The meat is well-cooked, well-seasoned, and plentiful. Their buns are homemade, which is impressive! Their tots and onion rings were perfect. This location is family-owned and the daughter of the gentleman who owns the company was extremely friendly and proud of what they have built.
