(The service/the waiters/the owner) The service was subpar. Unfortunately, I didn't have a great service here. They just shook my feet, and touched my toes. Came here for a quick couple's stop for 30 mins. The bf and I had drastically different experiences. I got the head, neck, and hand massage and thoroughly enjoyed the work from my male therapist. Remember they always tend to be more heavy-handed, so voice to them if you need lighter pressure. I was happy to be able to be right next to him during the whole session, since both types of massages could be done from their chairs. My poor bf just wanted a foot massage -- Nothing else. But his female therapist began working first with his hand. He quickly told her he just wanted his foot massaged. She then spent 20 mins on just his left calf. By the time the 30 mins was over, she probably only touched his feet for 5 mins. At the end, she also burned his left leg with a wet towel. He told her it was very hot ... and then she proceeded to do the same thing to his right leg He walked out of there with his feet feeling worst than when we first came in. If I had to guess, the issue was either because there was a language barrier or there was a miscommunication between the receptionist who booked us or the two therapists who were assigned. I have found a new favorite massage place. Very talented hands and the best massage I have ever had, and I have had quite a few.

Oasis used to be my go-to Foot Massage parlor, but seems like they could no longer hold onto their good therapists and keep having huge turnover. I started looking for other places inside the complex, and luckily stumbled upon JL! I have tried twice now with Michael, and he has been very consistent! The pressure was on point, and he knew the areas that need attention. I have constant pain in my hand/wrist, and Michael was the first to spend adequate and extra time without my asking, and my hands/wrists were in heaven! I've been going here since I moved to Houston. One of my favorite Foot Massages. I was sad to see prices go up.. I remember when it was $20 bucks for a foot massage. Now, for a 60 minute foot massage, it's $40. I totally get inflation, etc. I also think the workers, work super hard & always give us the best experience. I feel relaxed every time I leave. The lady that owns it is not always the friendliest.. but we love this tiny place. I also call ahead to see if it's busy and that's helpful as there is limited seating. read more

Second time here. First time was good second time was great. I also had meagan as mentioned by another reviewer and she did a very good job. JL Luxurious Foot Spa was good for the price. The biggest thing I didn't like though was how loud it was at times. You could constantly hear the door open and close when people walked in, and the 2 people doing our massage kept talking loudly between the 2 of them. I also didn't appreciate the rude comment at the end by the cashier in front. He complained because we gave a 25% tip, that's generous in any tipping situation, but he said it wasn't enough. Besides that though, the massage was solid. My friend thought the pressure was too hard and was too rough, but personally I enjoyed it. I guess it varies from person to person depending on who does your massage. We chose to do the $20 60 min foot massage which starts with a relaxing warn foot soak, and ends with a strong back massage in a private room. Would I come back here? Probably yes because of the price for the massage, but it definitely could have been a better experience. It was too loud, inconsistent between the massagers, and staff makes rude comments if you don't give a big tip. If you can deal with that, then come here for a strong massage. read more

I should've seen the red flags when I kept getting phone calls following up from the owner after my initial phone call to inquire about availability. Based solely on my masseuse, this was probably the worst foot massage I've ever gotten. Growing up in the hub of Asian central in Southern California, I've had my fair share of Asian foot massages so this is saying something. Starting off, the pressure was fine up until my masseuse lady fell asleep on me! Honestly, how does that even happen?! She was working on my foot when I noticed the pressure started drifting off and she would randomly straight up pause mid massage multiple times. When I peeked from the towel she had placed over my eyes, her eyes were completely closed. It was the last straw when she practically fell over when she nodded off asleep. I know plenty of people would fall asleep while getting a massage but never the other way around. I didn't pay $40 for people to fall asleep while doing what I'm paying them to do. Never coming back here again. I am still completely baffled by my experience. read more

$20 60 MIN FOOT MASSAGE My go-to place for affordable relaxation. This place does accept WALK INs but you can also call ahead to reserve seats if you're with a bigger group. You first walk into a dimly lit room that has 8 reclining chairs. The masseuse/masseur will bring a basin of hot water for you to soak your feet. While your feet are soaking they will start massaging your head & shoulders (approx 10 min), and then arms (~ 20 min). Before they massage your calves & feet (~ 20 min) they do put a cloth over your eyes. Once your foot massage is over they take you into a back room where you lay to receive a back massage. (~ 20 min) You pay once you finish and they do ACCEPT CARD but they do prefer cash. Overall it feels like a FULL-BODY MASSAGE CONS: - It can get noisy in the communal foot massage area. People coming in and out. Staff talking to each other. It can be distracting. I will probably bring earplugs next time - The massages are inconsistent. My last visit my masseur rubbed my right foot significantly way more than my left. The pressure is also too hard making the experience uncomfortable. You should speak up to ask them to go a little softer if necessary - The back massage is done OVER CLOTHES. One of my massages the masseur put an additional towel over me before he touched me but my most recent visit the masseur did not. They do massage along the thighs and buttocks so if you are uncomfortable with that let them know. read more

My mom and I were very disappointed! I wanted to take my mom out for a nice treat. They claimed to give us 1 hour message combo for $50 including 30 mins foot message and 30 mins body. But it was more like 50 mins message. The messages were mainly rubbing with oil for a bunch of times in the same area until you feel really hot. I can do the rubbing myself at home. I don't need to pay $50 for someone to do that for me and my mom. And then they use really hot towels to clean the oil which is way too hot on your skin. Then you are done! No message techniques what so ever. Very frustrating. At the end they would wait for you for tips. I didn't want to give any tips but they were just waiting there. I gave $10 tips , and they said it was too little. They were so lucky I even gave them any tips. Not coming back here again! Don't waste your money here! read more

My usual stop while I'm in Houston of some R&R. This place is listed on the second floor of Juice Box (Asian Shopping Center). Talking about fast service, I never had to wait. Their foot massage is the best which also include a back massage as well. You lay down on the huge couch and soak your feet in a bucket of warm water. While they massage your neck and head. After moments later they will start massaging your legs & feet. I have never had any massage there that I was unhappy about. My boyfriend and I came here last night for a couples full body massage. I know the name of the business is "Foot Spa" but they offer more than just foot massages - clearly. Lol. They take walk ins which is super nice since we called and made an appointment yet showed up late... Whoopsies! But they still got us in quickly. They had a private room for both of us and the massage itself was nice. Personally, we would've preferred a bit nicer atmosphere but the price was great for the service so no biggie. By "nicer atmosphere" I mean it would've been nice to have some aromas and music going. I'm beyond confused because I have been here twice and the first time I came here (maybe around 10 months ago) with my friend we got the foot and back massage special which was pretty decent. Maybe 3.5 stars out of 5 because I have been to parlors of similair price points and the quality of the massage and afterward release of tension in my body was noticeably different. This time, it was incredibly lack luster. Me and my bf went for a fulll body massage. I do have to say I appreciate the owner's flexibility and they stayed a little bit after hours for my massage. But the masseuse had incredibly weird technique and there were some parts where I felt he wasn't even trying. At certain points, he would talk to his coworker in our private room and they would start laughing about whatever. There were times I thought she was laughing at the really weird techniques he was doing on me. It emphasized more why I regretted going there lol. Unprofessional and dampened the serene environment. My Masseuse was a middle aged man. I didn't feel any different afterward and my bf said the masseuse was over focusing on certain muscles and he felt more pain than ease afterward. Was not worth the money at all. I love supporting small Asian businesses, especially massage parlors but this was the weirdest experience. So I went to Chinatown to my regular spa at JL next to YESKTV karaoke, and Sofia gave me probably what I think is the best 60 minute body massage I've ever had in my life. I've had massages across the USA and even in Thailand, and this is probably the most rejuvenated I've ever been post massage. She worked every bone and sore muscle. No funny business here... My boyfriend and I couldn't decide where to go in Chinatown to get our foot massages and ended up choosing this one based on the mostly positive Yelp reviews. Still I was wary because I haven't had the best of luck with masseuses elsewhere.Those worries all faded away within the first five minutes of the hour foot massage at JL. Just as a heads up, their hour foot massage is more like 25 minutes of the upper half of the body and 35 minutes of feet and calves. While my feet were soaking, the lady kneaded away at my shoulders and got out more tightness in that short time span than any deep tissue massage ever has. The scalp massage bordered on too much pressure but it was great at knocking out my headache. The foot massage itself was just right, and the 10 minute back massage at the end had me convinced that I need to come back to try their full body massage. The only thing that was weird was my boyfriend had a lady who kept belching but he didn't mind because he was passed out. Appointments may be needed but we were just lucky to catch them at a time before their rush. For $20, this was a great deal. read more

We went here for a foot massage one hour and it is 30$ pp. the guy doing my massage wasn't wearing gloves. I didn't feel like they used any body oil or cream. The guys working here are hacking outside and then come into do the massage .. from a safety perspective they shouldn't be spitting outside. It was warm inside. Great foot massage, especially the price. My only complain is they could have been a little more gentle at times. I like deep pressure massages but sometimes it wasn't deep just rough. When we went to check out I paid with credit card. I then gave them $15 cash for a tip (total bill was $70), and they complained asking me for more money. Extremely rude, like they don't know if I had a good experience or bad. Also, I gave them cash instead of a card. I was blown away by this. For the price, I can't complain :) There are definitely places to improve! This was my mom's first massage experience, and we got the 30 min foot + 30 min body massage for $35 each (before tip), and it was a good one hour respite from the real world, yayyy ^_^ We requested our masseuses to be ladies, and they complied graciously by calling two women in by phone~ so nice! First, the foot massage consists of a quick hot soak and then a reflexology session (more pressure points than salt scrubs and lotions), and it's done in a big room with others. It might be painful at parts, but that's a good sign that they're working their magic! Although relaxing music plays throughout, the workers not only answered their phones, they also held short conversations and stopped massaging my mom and still counted it as part of the massage time (Nyuuuuu!)... Any body massage portions are done in private rooms. It's a good, standard massage. They ask whether you need more or less pressure, and even the ladies apply lots of pressure (they use their entire body weight!). I do wish they used more oil though-- feeling like I'm getting rug burn at times isn't much fun! (￣￣) Overall, this place is solid and clean. My mom was happy with her massage-- mission success! If I really needed a fantastic massage for pure relief and fatigue, I would pick somewhere else. But if you just need to maintain your calm and feel good for a bit, this place is a great choice that won't destroy your wallet.
