I don't want to jinx anything. I have had a really good experience with JK Moving so far. And am not expecting anything to change. I have heard of some not so great experiences with moving companies. So I was a little nervous. I have to say Natalie was great to work with. From understanding our needs to explaining each and every question we had with great detail. Natalie was always quick to respond even after business hours (I was expecting next morning responses). The move came about quickly. And in less than 5 days Natalie was able to not only assist with arranging the move, the belongings were picked up and on their way. I'm sorry did I say 5 days? I called several moving companies on Wednesday and the belongings were on a truck the Saturday headed across the country. JK Moving was one of the few companies that could pick up the that soon and was one of the few who's had a deliver window the soonest. Now for price. They were in the bottom half of the quotes with the level of service they PROvide. I was able to receive a more accurate quote (for us lower) than the original because I was able to send a video of everything they would moving by room (Natalie's suggestion). And that was the deciding factor. The new quote made it no longer a competition. Now wound JK kept the promises that put in the quote? And so far they have meet and surpassed expectations. The two gentlemen that arrived to load our belongings were extremely friendly and courteous. Thanked me for meeting in front of the apartment a letting they were to park. They handled ever one of our belongings with care. As well as the building itself. They had carpet over hard surfaces and plastic over the carpet. They clarified what was happening every step of the process. What was most impressive was the additional care and effort they took with the antiques. Now for the finish... Worst move out of four in seven years -- unreliable service and poor communication. ​I recently hired this company for a full-service move from my Hillside residence to my Benway residence. Having moved four times in the past seven years, I can easily say this was by far the worst experience I've ever had. ​While I appreciate that a supervisor stepped in to correct an initial estimate that was off by a staggering 33%, the rest of the execution was unacceptable: ​Complete Failure of Customer Support: When urgent issues came up on move day, I left a direct voicemail for the supervisor and texted customer service. Neither received a response or follow-up. I was completely on my own. ​Abandoned Items & Property Neglect: When I inspected the Hillside house after the movers left, I found numerous belongings left behind--including my primary television, which I had explicitly asked the crew about multiple times. On top of that, my outdoor shed was left wide open, and the team littered empty water bottles all over my house. ​Damaged Furniture: A piece of my furniture was damaged in transit (I have photos documenting all the damage and abandoned items). ​When paying for a full-service move, a customer shouldn't have to secure open properties, clean up trash, make extra trips to retrieve missing belongings, or deal with damaged furniture and radio silence from management. ​I am still waiting for a clear resolution and explanation regarding how this company plans to handle the damaged property and severe lapse in service. I paid JK Moving Services $37,000 for a cross-country move, including packing and unpacking, and while the packing crew was stellar, the delivery crew's incompetence--enabled by JK's horrific hiring and vetting policy--turned it into a disaster. The JK-employed packing team did an excellent job at my old home, carefully protecting the house and furniture. But the JK delivery crew was an absolute nightmare. They showed up with no regard for my new home. Other than one red runner at the entry, they used no protection for floors, walls, or stairs. When asked if they'd add any, they claimed the padded furniture made it unnecessary. The result? Extensive damage to my walls, stairs, and floors. Worse, these JK employees were smoking marijuana in my driveway during breaks, returning visibly high and dropping heavy furniture, causing further damage. The crew leader was completely absent, sitting in the truck outside my neighborhood's gates from 8 AM to 6 PM, failing to oversee his team's shoddy work. They also refused to let me check off delivered items, and now I'm missing belongings they claim were brought in. When I raised these issues with JK's moving coordinator, they dismissed me, implying I was lying because their driver denied everything. Their only offer? A pathetic $200 credit. JK's abysmal hiring and vetting policy clearly allowed this unprofessional, careless delivery crew to represent their company. I'd never hire them again and strongly warn others to avoid them. Be very aware of this company. Read the fine print and know that while the packing was excellent the handling of our personal property was horrible. There was significant damage done to my property for which I filed a claim. They honored the claim for any damaged items under $250 dollars in value. Despite paying for damage coverage. They take your money for this service and deny your claim. Whatever you do take out personal insurance if you use them or you will regret it. Interestingly enough everything over $250 in my claim was denied. While I accept that this is a risky proposition I have moved 5x over the years and have never had so much damage. And note: If your furniture is not 100% hardwood and they damage it any claim will be denied. Be aware that you need to know exactly what your items are made of. If you do not pay for a complete unpacking they will not cover you. And do not let the driver leave until you have inspected everything, or they will deny your claim. They damaged the walls of my new home, scraping them with furniture or boxes but when I reported it they said "you didn't report it that day". I said, I couldn't report it because the boxes covered the damage. Break everything down or you will regret it. This company may have some good reviews but they are snakes. I appealed per their process and despite a compelling case and a willingness to settle in a mutually agreeable manner it was denied. Their reporting of the events was missrepresented and an outright lie. All so they can save a buck on a claim. I would not recommend them on any level and would never recommend them. Hi, I used JK moving services from DMV to Florida this month. Charlie Mullin was the salesperson and we had in person meeting. He was knowledge, very personable, took his time to listen and answer all my questions. He followed thru with everything and was available whenever I called him. Carissa James was my coordinator. She was pleasent, knowledge, whenever I reached out she was polite and answered my questions. She was available by phone and text and responded on time. I don't have enough words to express my gratitude with the moving crew especially the driver/ lead Jomod McNally. The DMV and Florida crew arrived promptly. DMV team had an amazing skill of packing my furniture, able to listen to me and accommodate my needs. They worked in 100+ degree weather continuously and had an amazing work ethics. When the items arrived in FL the boxes were intact and didn't miss anything. The FL crew was able to deliver all my items in both locations. They were able to organize the boxes by creating walkways per my request in the storage which I really appreciate. They also have a great work ethics. They over charged me. I am a senior. I was called at 5:30 about a uhaul truck. Then .overs said they were on the way at 6:15. They didn't arrive and start loading till 7:00. I was charged $900. They finally finished at 11:30p.m. They took a tote one at a time. No dollies. I moved out of a 400sq ft apartment. Furniture wise recliner, queen size mattress, plate base bed, 3 tvs, small freezer. Misc. Tables. I am not well. I have finally unpacked. I am basically missing half of my stuff. Now I have to replace items. Please don't use them. I have never used movers before. I moved from MD to GA and wanted to hire a professional mover to make it a tad bit easier on us and after talking to JK and Moyer and Sons I decided to go with JK and man was that a mistake. When Joe came to our house he told my wife and me that we would not need our own semi and estimated us at 16k pounds and saud if we got our own truck we would need 2 and that would be considerably more expensive so we trusted the exp and said shared semi would work. At first everything was great as we packed up the house put labels on all the boxes and took all the valuables and TVs etc on our own as well as our aquariums. They arrived and told me they already had 2 loads on the truck so were bringing another truck in case too much stuff. They got to work showed them what all they had to take etc and let them work. Everything was good until about 6 hours in I had to leave to pick up the cargo van to transport the aquariums so left my wife to finish up with them. Well once I left they ran out of room and then told my wife if they use the 2nd truck she would be charged alot more for the overflow and that he did not recommend doing it as the 2nd truck wouldn't even show up the same day as the rest of our stuff. The total weight was 13500 pounds of what they grabbed of the 16k estimated. This caused me to scramble to find a uhaul to drive the rest of the stuff and called JK basically saying wtf yall estimated 16k pounds and brought a truck with 2 loads already then we're going to make us pay a lot more for a 2nd truck this needs to be remedied. They told me that there was no charge for 2nd truck and that the driver and my wife had a miscommunication so I only had to pay for the 13500 pounds. Fast forward to drop off day and again I couldn't be there as I had to finish closing on our house in MD and this is where it went to hell. My wife had a broken foot and couldn't monitor the movers so what she did was put labels on each door saying this is master, guest, kid etc to make it easy for them. These jokers put boxes randomly in rooms, didn't put back furniture they broke down and instead left it in the FRONT yard disassembled, loaded the garage with everything meanwhile had a bedroom with nothing but a bed in it. Left my hutch sitting on its side still wrapped not even put in place, left entertainment center 6 inches off wall not even centered among many other things. At one point the driver told my wife when she realized boxes were being misplaced that they are not moving boxes but once. I called JK obviously extremely mad when I realized what a joke this was and was told this has never happened and maybe house was full and used garage for that reason so I sent them photos of all the nonsense and still haven't heard back except they might be able to get someone to come to our house 5 days after drop off to build the stuff they broke down and move boxes lol. Give me a break we have to move in and can't wait for 5 days for you to come correct your mess up. If JK decides to make this right I'll ammend this review but to everyone especially those veterans like myself stay far away from them and go to Moyer and sons. read more

This company is a joke. I reached out for a quote, was told to provide a video of my belongings when I got home that night, so I sent over photos of almost everything I had for visual clarity. I even listed out everything. Then I get an email response saying "I am sorry we are not able to service your move/date." That's it. No explanation, nothing. This was by far the worst moving experience I have ever had. I have moved multiple times and have never had such bad experience. The driver arrived with a quarter full truck and then claimed that he was not aware of all of our household goods. He then proceeded to take apart everything. When we were told we had to take apart our treadmill (which I had originally been told would not have to be taken apart), my husband took it apart so that we would no accrue additional chargers. We have still be unable to locate the parts to put it back together. The packers packed so horribly that I almost had to take apart one of our dressers in order to remove all of the clothing they had shoved in the drawer. The first day of packing the driver and packers left our home after 7 hours leaving behind the truck which blocked two of our neighbors driveways. They did not return until 0800 the following day. The following day, they again were ready to leave at 3 (7 hours later) and had not completed the packing or loading of our items. The driver had to return the following day to finish. We had to allow someone we do not know into our home, while we were not there, in order for this pack and load rob be complete. Now let's talk about the delivery. The gentlemen dropped our safe off our front porch into gravel, causing damage (pictures below). Additionally our 75" tv was removed from the bottom of the truck and when it was removed from the crate it was frozen. We were unable to turn it one for 24 to ensure it was working properly. When we inquired about why our tv was frozen, we were informed that our stuff had been sitting on a truck since it had been packed (13 days from pickup to delivery) JK Moving charged us $12,000 more than any other company that gave us an estimate. When we questioned this, we were told we would receive "Top Notch" service and I can accurately say this was absolutely not the case. So I unfortunately have to rescind any accolades I may have previously given this company. When my items were returned to me after moving and storage, several of my boxes looked like they had been impaled with a forklift. Many items inside the boxes were broken. I had purposely put two antique pieces (from my great back to 1830's grandmother who was gifted these pieces by her slave master when he built her a house in which to raise their children) in storage for safe keeping. Little did I know they would be returned to me in pieces. Broken. And their explanation was that I did not elect extra valuation so tough. We don't owe you anything even though we broke and destroyed its monetary value. Don't use this company. They used to be excellent. The clowns that are now running the show are negligent destructive, belligerent, and liars. If you value your items store them elsewhere. This company SUCKS! Not worthy of one star, but no stars is not an option. You certainly were able to threaten and harras about paperwork I refused to sign until my items were fixed. Like an idiot I relented because you assured me that if I signed you would fix what you broke. Then you send me some bullshit letter denying culpability. Really. I do NOT recommend this company. While JK was responsive and very quick to set up our move, it was riddled with problems caused by their lack of attention to detail. We walked through our home on FaceTime and went through every room. We specifically discussed our treadmill. On the day of packing, our packers explained that a third party should have come to take it apart and they would unfortunately not be able to move it. The account manager had assumed the treadmill could fold down and simply did not ask the right questions. After multiple calls made by me that day, a third party did arrive to take care of the treadmill and thankfully they happened to be close by. At the delivery, again the treadmill had not been accounted for so we had to request again for it to be put back together. The third party was fantastic and took care of it - but stress we didn't need. In addition, we requested unpacking and debris removal - that was missed as well. On the day of our delivery, we were scrambling to get everything unboxed so that the team could squeeze our unpacking in. Worst - 3 of my husband's suits were not delivered. All along we were told we had 90 days to report any issues and to take our time so that nothing was missed. I reported within 48 hours the missing items. They took weeks to investigate to eventually tell me that because I signed that all boxes were delivered, there was nothing they could do regarding the claim. This is awful customer service and unless I want to take on a lot of back and forth, it's not worth it - which is exactly what they are probably hoping. Initially, we had high hopes for and confidence in JK Movers for our move from MD to NC. The estimate process was professional, and it was easy to sign the contract and pay a small deposit. We were extremely impressed with the crew who packed up our house. They protected our 27-year old home as if it were new: thick cardboard on the floor and padding on staircases and edges of walls. They wrapped our large furniture pieces thoroughly with blankets and then shrink wrapped them. We even saw the crew redo one entire wrapping because the supervisor was unhappy with it. The crew was friendly, efficient, and caring. Our belongings went into storage for a month. During that month, we found our early questions quickly answered, but that did not last long. Emails went unanswered, and we often had to contact our rep just to get simple questions answered. Approximately a week before our scheduled move-in date, our rep texted and said the move was "on track." Then one day before our move, he called to say we somehow had never gotten on the schedule. We were extremely unhappy, considering his earlier text, considering we'd supposedly been on the schedule for two months, and considering we had packed up our temporary living quarters. The company rep admitted the ineptness of the front staff and that one person had been fired. After significant complaining on our part and a request for compensation, he agreed to $200. We were able to request an increase (to $300) once we were dealing with bookkeeping. JK arranged for movers on a Saturday, one day later than originally scheduled, and while they arrived promptly, they were not nearly as professional as the Maryland crew. For our brand new home, they laid down paper, not cardboard, to protect the hardwood floor. We thought about questioning that but figured they are the professionals. Our staircase railing was not protected, nor were any of the walls. The dolly for our boxes gouged a 40' long strip into the hardwood floor, and the newly-painted walls leading up the staircase were scuffed. The crew themselves were kind and even moved boxes or furniture as requested. We are grateful only one item was damaged and that our TV stand covers the gouge in the wood surface. Getting our hardwood floor replaced took almost two months, from our sending photos of the damage to a lengthy review process to finding someone to assess the repair needed to reimburse us. So, yes, we were compensated somewhat for our postponed move-in, which I stress was a major inconvenience and should never have happened if office personnel is watching and checking on upcoming moves. And, yes, we had our floor replaced (at a significant cost to JK Movers), but again, that should never have happened with a seasoned crew. We did a move Maryland to Pennsylvania in January 2023. Everything went fine. The sales person worked with the coordinator who worked with the driver and crew. I read all of the sketchy reviews carefully to see what could go wrong so I kept careful notes and records just in case and made sure to contact and get verifications on any concerns or changes. If we couldn't get in touch with one of the team, we could reach out to another and they would get back to us promptly. Bottom line is that it went smoothly. Hector and his truck crew were amazing, fast and efficient and were able to work around issues like our apartment's new ridiculous (non) elevator policy and he was amazing at street parking. The estimated price was what we paid, we were refunded an extra deposit required for a Sunday delivery, etc. A weird thing is everyone at JK asked us and reconfirmed if we needed them to move a car (the most repeated an asked question!). It was weird because we didn't consider that because we can drive our own cars. But I guess that has been an issue with other customers. Due to our small 2bedroom apartment we did not get as good value (ie paid a bit more for the actual moved amount) than other "regular house" 2 bedroom customers on the estimate because JK has a base weight/box/distance/cost (which we totally did not reach but we also did not go over weight either). I'm sure this is a normal thing. Everything was moved with care and the overall experience was great. I'm glad we used JK Moving. Yes we would recommend and use again. They even have a policy where you can pick up a quantity of free boxes which saved us some money. read more

What a disaster! We hired JK to move our daughter's apartment contents from Miami to Philadelphia. Her furniture was badly damaged, but we were compensated nothing despite having purchased supplemental insurance. They did not honor their contract and--what's more--they falsified a document claiming "prior damage". I would say this could've been much better... Leading up to the move, communication with office staff was excellent, and I very much felt like this would be easier and more seamless than expected. I was wrong... I used the app to record all of the items and repeatedly expressed concern about our treadmill being moved. In each interaction, the reps said, "As long as it is foldable, it's not a problem." On one call, the rep even went so far as to say that "It may look like a big deal to you, but our movers do this all the time." On the day of the move, however, it was a major problem. As soon as the team arrived, they said that they would not be able to move the treadmill. I immediately called JK moving and for literal hours, went back and forth with them about the issue. I recorded everything accurately and they could not have anyone come out to safely move the treadmill. Additionally, they offered no compensation for the additional stress this added to the move. At the end of the day, the movers had to take it apart, which they expressed they did NOT want to do because they weren't trained to do so. We also had to sign a waiver saying we didn't hold the company responsible. One other issue is that we had several glass tables we were moving, and at no point did the reps catch that from our various recordings on their app of what needed to be moved. Glass had to be packaged in a specific way, and we did not find out until the movers showed up. Ultimately, the move was great until the rubber hit the literal road and then it became highly stressful with lots of arguments back and forth. This is a big moving company, and they truly do not value customer service or owning up to their side of the fence. First, I would like to state that I had accurately recorded all big furniture items that would need to be moved. I had a three seater sofa that I had recorded via Yembo (the survey app which allows you to record all of the items that would be part of the move). A few days after pick up, I had received a voicemail that the sofa did not fit in the Liftvan and needed to be shipped separately.The sales rep told me I'd be charged an additional $250 sofas box fee as well as a $600 oversize item fee charge on this shipment. If I had provided that the sofa was needed to be packed, how is it my fault they weren't able to fit it? That was poor logistic planning on their end. I went back and forth with the sales rep about how they should have communicated with me first about the situation before just packing it and then saying I was going to be charged. It just so happen that the sales rep didn't get back to me until the day before my stuff got delivered which forced me to pay in full because if you don't pay by the day before your delivery- you get charged additional fees. This is bad business. They will make up any excuse for an additional charge to make more money. Use another moving company! I believe they say their goal is to make the move stress free but JUST KIDDING! It was not stress-free! JK Really lived up to their name there! read more

Do NOT use this company! I would not want another family to have the experience we had with our recent move. We used this for a full house move and were quoted for EVERYTHING in our house as a "worst case scenario" because we explained that we would packing a lot of our things, and would be moving clothes, kids cribs, kids toys, etc to our temporary living arrangement while our house was finished. Two days before delivery, we were charged $3700 EXTRA with no explanation, just that the quote was off and more storage had to be used for our belongings. We called and called and was not able to speak to a supervisor (they were screening my husbands number) who explained that if we didn't pay, we would not be receiving our delivery the next day. We explained that it is against the law to charge 125% over the original quote but Darla, our sales rep explained that this law in Maryland did not apply because we started the move in Virginia. Packers and movers were extremely nice and efficient and did a great job. It's unfortunate that the company they work for is so bad. Absolute terrible customer service and a scam. I contacted JK moving when I had thought that the company I hired had fallen through. They were quick to get back to me and gave me what I felt was a better than average quote. When we found out that there was not a problem with the company we had hired, I contacted JK to let them know that I would be staying with the first company I hired. They were very understanding. In fact they have reached out a couple of times to follow up. I appreciate their great customer service and good pricing. I used JK Moving for a short, simple local move - only four items, but all expensive and good quality. I was quoted $724 for the move, which seemed high, but was told that it was due to a 4-hour minimum. Reasonable enough, and I was in a bind, so I accepted. The move itself went great, the crew was professional and took care both moving items from the old home and into the new home. They were quick and efficient, and the whole process (moving about 10 miles) took less than 2 hours. I was very pleased, and then the foreman showed me the invoice - only $474. I asked whether that included the $250 deposit or if the $250 was added on, and he said I should only expect to pay $474 total. When I mentioned the 4-hour minimum, he seemed surprised and didn't seem to think that was a policy. I called the office to clarify what exactly I was paying, perfectly happy to pay the full $724 as it was what was agreed to initially. I received a text from my move coordinator stating unequivocally "Got confirmation from my boss he is waiving the 4 hour minimum on this move for you - congrats on the new home!" At this point, I was overwhelmingly pleased with JK Moving. However, a few days later I noticed my credit card had been charged the full $724. I texted my move coordinator, fully expecting that this was just part of the process and I would be refunded the $250 deposit. The eventual clarification I received was that I was charged the correct amount, and they weren't actually waiving the 4-hour minimum. He then called me to explain to me how I had misunderstood his text (which is exceptionally clear and direct) and that I had incorrectly conveyed information to them, so essentially the confusion was my fault. It's clear to me that there was never any intention on waiving the 4 hour minimum, just lip service, and they hoped the additional charges would go unnoticed. Further, the customer service post move (which is a pattern for JK Moving based on other reviews) was terrible. The simple fact that I have a text from them stating pointedly that they are waiving the 4 hour minimum (something I never requested!) and am now being required to pay the full price makes them untrustworthy and unreliable. read more

Highly recommend. Easy to book with, and they even called me mid-move to make sure things were going well. The two movers I had, George and Nelson, were fast, efficient, polite and helpful. George in particular was awesome. They helped me get everything just as I wanted it and were pleasant and respectful. I thought the rates were reasonable. I saw an ad for them at a Terps game and asked for their alumni special and got an additional $10/hour off per the ad. Honestly, for the amount of stuff and stress I had, this was the best $650 I spent. For people complaining about the quotes, that's really unfair to leave a bad review based on a quote. Don't use them, then, if what you need does not match with what they can do. They have a minimum baseline to achieve for any job, and you leaving a bad review without even using their services is karmically awful, and not in the spirit of Yelp. I was NOT expecting to ever write a five star review for a moving company, but I suppose there's a first time for everything. We were referred to JK moving by a family member. We moved out of a 3 story walkup in DC into our first house a few miles down the road and my fiance had just had wrist surgery, so moving ourselves just wasn't an option. They came out to do a consultation, and initially I thought the quote was pretty high, but we decided that we didn't feel like looking at other movers, and they came to us referred so we went with them... Plus they were available on the date we wanted to move. On moving day three guys show up with a big truck (on time!) and get down to business. I've truly never seen anything like it. We tried to help but quickly realized it was better just to get out of their way. They didn't look like bodybuilders but MAN they could move! Having to lug all our furniture and boxes down three flights of stairs on a 90 degree day is not fun for anyone but they were true professionals. They didn't scratch or ruin a single thing... We gave them waters and egg mcmuffins at the suggestion of a friend, and I am sure they would have taken care of our stuff regardless, but I think it engendered some good will. Plus they deserved it with all those steps. They were truly a pleasure to work with. They quoted us for 5 hours and were done in 3.5 so the quote ended up being much higher than we actually paid which is always a nice thing! read more

Move from DC to SLC My moving consultant - Bill and coordinator Stephanie were fantastic. The quote was market fare, slightly higher but the quality of service and peace of mind were worth the price. The move day I wasn't able to be on-site but my friend took pictures and spoke to the crew. Extremely professional and prompt. The receiving side was a breeze. The long distance driver and local crew were efficient and very careful with my personals. They set everything up and put the boxes in each room. I pre-packed my most valuable items just so I could ensure I did them my way. The larger items and boxes were is good condition. From the loading process - which required expert packing to fit in a single truckload - to the move-in - which they completed in amazingly fast time - they were absolutely fantastic. What a great team. Easy to work with, fun, and incredibly hard-working. Thanks to each of you - you were wonderful. This is the second time I've used JK for a move. The first was in November of 2012. For that move, I received several estimates, and JK was among the most competitively priced. What made me select them was the confidence that they instilled in their process, and that confidence was not misplaced. Our 2012 move was local in the DC area, and they had us packed up, moved, and unloaded in under 8 hours. The work was incredible. Not a single item was broken in the process, and the team was fantastic. For our latest move, in late October 2015, we migrated a little further - from DC to southern Virginia. We used JK's packing services as we didn't have time to do it ourselves, and the team was fantastic. Our entire house was packed in under 6 hours, with absolutely no prep work on our end. The moving team came the next day and, as stated above, did an absolutely expert job in loading the truck. I couldn't believe they got everything in a single load. They unloaded the following day in southern VA, and the speed and carefulness of the team's work was excellent. We were settled in the new house in about 5 hours, and again, not a single item was broken or damaged in the move. These guys worked so hard and I was happy to spend every penny for the phenomenal service they provided. As a side note, I'm a little surprised by the handful of negative reviews on the page. I've now had two excellent moves with JK and will never use another moving service again if I have a choice. They have been excellent both times, with teams that truly exceeded what I would have thought humanly possible (in terms of speed and service). In addition, both teams I worked with expressed to me how much they liked working for the company - it sounds like a place where they really look out for their crews, and I think that carries through into the service levels that the moving teams provide. This company is a professional RACKET. Had them move antique furniture and they broke nearly everything. And of course they after refused to make any repairs. Not to mention that the workers came in unvaccinated and without masks. Totally disgraceful!! read more

We used JK Moving Co. pre-pandemic and once after the pandemic for corporate relocations. Twice prior to the pandemic, service was white glove all the way. Our most recent relocation (2023) was a total disaster. JK Moving showed up with 1/2 a truck available when we all knew and had agreed based on our previous relocations, weight and amount of furniture that we needed 1.5 18 wheeler trucks. The moving crew destroyed a lot of our personal items, including art that was listed in the 'high value items list' (which they tried to glue behind my back but were caught on camera). Some items were never delivered and they said they were not accountable for them to just put them on the claims list and see what would happen. They delivered our items in 3 parts over a one month period, even though they had committed to one delivery. Also, now their support teams are no longer in DC, but in Costa Rica. That is a bonus!! NOT! I DO NOT recommend JK Moving to anyone for their move/relocation and we will certainly NOT use this company for our future executive relocations. read more

We moved about 25 miles distance in total so not really 'long distance'. However JK's crew handled it like a charm. They arrived - a 3 man crew an a 24ft truck to move a 3 - level townhouse. The put down floor covering to protect our wood floors they wrapped the cushions on the couch so they didnt fall, straped the furniture in the truck so it didnt move around to get damaged. They were professional, curteous and pretty darn fast. The whole townhouse was packed up in a little over 90 minutes. They arrived at the new house and the same process unfolded. They put down floor coverings and all that I basically had to do was 'direct traffic' by instructing them on what pieces and boxes went where. They took time to place the things where I wanted, stack the boxes neatly where I wanted, and did not damage a thing. I would absolutely recommend JK Moving to anyone. read more

This is the worst company I have ever worked with do not use them. First, let's start with honesty, JK has little to none. When we booked our moving dates we told them we wanted more time to get to FL to receive the truck. We were told numerous times that it would be no problem, all we had to do was let them know. They moved us Thursday and we're finished at 4 p.m. we were given one day to drive to FL and then have the truck come Sat. When we told them we needed more time we we're told tough, the contract says we can only give you a day. When we said we were told we could get more time if needed again we were told we're giving you one day. Now, let's talk about the idiot driver Glenn. I told him how to take the master bed apart. Did he listen, no. When he couldn't get it apart because he wouldn't listen to me tell him how to do, he cut the screw with his saw. Then when that still didn't work he told me I had two choices; I signed a release that give him the right to destroy the bed or I had to leave it. While I was telling him under no way was there only two choices, his helpers listened to me and took the bed apart the way I said. They were embarrassed and told the Drive I was right and he should have listened. There are other reasons I could list but, if you still use them after reading this you deserve what will happen to you. read more

DO NOT USE JK MOVERS!! What started out as a reliable and affordable moving company on the exterior has become a nightmare experience. Our initial quote for a townhome was affordable in comparison to other quotes we received. Clearly a tactic just to get us to sign on the dotted line. But when it came to moving day, JK accused us of adding an additional 2000 lbs worth of items, which caused an increase of $2000 from the estimate being so drastically under the target quoted weight. We provided plenty of pictures of everything we were shipping and even had someone from JK come do a walk through and he advised he had 30 years of experience to ensure we would have an accurate weight assessment. After a week or waiting for explanations in between emails accusing us of adding items we were told no additional charges would be coming off the now $2000+ markup. The only option provided was meeting their driver at a weigh station for a re-weigh ...which could possibly cause even higher charges if the weight showed higher. And then to end that conversation they also told us we are now looking to have a delivery 4 days beyond our contracted delivery window (2 weeks after our furniture was originally pickup!) which would make it THREE weeks to ship from MD to CA. JK moving could not have been more accommodating, helpful, courteous, and professional throughout this process for my father. I called three movers for quotes but all came in the same $ range so don't bother wasting your time. JK was the only that followed up after I was given a quote. They responded to questions faster than I could've ever expected. I received confirmation calls, moving tips and what to expect info. On the day of our move George the foreman & driver and the office called to provide their exact eta. Upon arrival each team member introduced himself to each one of us and our foreman walked with me through the entire house to make sure he knew exactly what needed to move. They laid down carpet protection and wrapped Every piece of furniture with blankets. The team worked with expert precision and efficiency. Was moving from MD to PA and my realtor suggested JK Moving. Obviously, not knowing one moving company from the other, I was more than happy to have the recommendation. Met with Joe Pence and we walked room by room, and he noted everything. Very friendly, knowledgeable, and not afraid of my questions. Moving day arrived and 3 of his men. Special care was taken on the floors. Living in a townhouse, with a basement, was no easy task, but they handled every piece of furniture with grace and ease. Some pieces I couldn't watch, because it seemed impossible to maneuver, but "lo and behold", they worked their magic. Joe Pence again stopped by to see how things went. Great follow through. Setting me up in my new place was no disappointment. It was, by no means, a drop and go. Everything was wrapped, dry, and not a scratch on anything. If you want a professional, if you want courtesy, if you want customer service, if you want dependability and reliability, and fairness, I couldn't recommend JK Moving any more than if the company was my own.
