I love this place. I've been going almost weekly for years now. Every single time I go in, it's a beautiful, immaculately-clean restaurant with employees busy at work, either serving customers, or making sure every ingredient is well-stocked and fresh. The Hispanic woman that seems to run the place doesn't interact with customers often, but you can always see her walking through and checking that everything is perfect and requesting fixes if it isn't. That attention to detail is rare and very much appreciated. As for the food itself... delicious. Everything is always fresh (you'll never see crusty beans here), and it's an amazing blend of Latin and Mediterranean cuisines. Ever wanted a carne mechada burrito with feta and tzatziki? What a nice surprise to find in the Hourglass District! The inside of the restaurant is remodeled and trendy. There is dining inside and set up is similar to Chipotle. The difference is the vegetables are cooked! I had the pulled chicken bowl. The spicy Mexican rice was fire and really shaped the enjoyment of the bowl. The jasmine rice was soft and the spices in the Mexican rice was just right. I picked the vegetables: corn, mushroom and eggplant-all cooked! Yesss! It complemented the rice and pulled chicken. It's been three years since I've eaten here and I am LOVING the change. This is my new lunch spot! The meats are so tender, fresh, and flavorful. The sauces are flavor-packed. We've tried the grilled chicken and pulled chicken and hav our eyes on the carnitas for our next collaboration. There are an assortment of fresh toppings to add to your dish. I've tried the eggplant, tabouli, plantains, sautéed onions, and mushrooms and they are all very good. Cooked just right with great flavor! I don't get tired of eating here because with all the options, I can have Mediterranean or Latin themed dishes. They even had a flavorful assortment of bases for your bowl. It's a quick casual dining experience where you build your own bowl. My go to: spicy Mexican rice as a base, roasted pork & pulled chicken, feta and cheddar shredded cheese, guac, tzatziki sauce, sour cream, scratch sauce (honey-chipotle vinaigrette) and then the fillers like beans, lettuce, plantains, etc. I love that when i come here the food is ALWAYS fresh and everyone working there is happy to help and doesn't mind answering your questions about the menu. Also, love that they don't necessarily put a cap or max on the sauces like some other more commercial places. The restaurant itself and bathrooms are always super clean when I go. I ordered the spicy Mexican bowl with the Latin brisket meat. Very tasty! The brisket had a very strong flavor/seasoning. I'm not sure what it is but it is pretty good but be warned it is a heavy flavor. They also give you a lot of choices for topping such as corn, tomatoes, pico, mushrooms etc. This is a very different take from ( Too Much Sauce) another bowl place but good. This place reminds me of a Mediterranean Mexican fusion build your own concept. I love that you get so many flavor options of tortillas alone and rices. I love pretty much all of the toppings but especially the mushrooms. I ask for a triple scoop because it's so good! And the vibes and ambiance are nice too. I stopped in for lunch and it's definitely an ideal set up for lunch, but could definitely be an on the go dinner as well. There is a hefty charge for the guacamole but it's delicious and they give a huge serving of it. Prices were reasonable and the salad mix for my bowl was fresh (a lot of places with spring mix can't seem to keep it fresh). Overall, I'd come back if in the area. I didn't love the flavor profile of the steak, which is the main reason for 4 stars, but it's definitely better than Chipotle's. read more

When you walk in you'll see the setup is much like a Chipotle or Subway, where the food is lined up and you walk down the row picking what you'd like. First choice is the type of meal you want: rice bowl, burrito, etc. Next up is the meat, or none! Then toppings like salsa, cheese, lettuce. The guacamole is a little extra, but totally worth it! 5 Stars for an inventive concept, fabulous service, and food that makes you want to go back an embarrassing amount of times in one week. I had found JJ's on Yelp and bookmarked it when I saw the categories- Mexican & Lebanese. Huh?!? It turns out it's a lot like Chipotle in that you order at a counter and pick your protein, rice, toppings, etc. I opted for the burrito bowl with Lebanese rice, pulled pork (came highly recommended), lentils (instead of the traditional black beans), tabbouleh, and grilled onions & peppers. I loved talking to the staff and hearing about how the owner got introduced to Mediterranean food by a childhood friend and incorporated it into her Venezuelan cuisine. Their tabbouleh is a great example of a melding of two cuisines to make for a special, perfectly balanced blend. It is different from your typical tabbouleh in that it has much more moisture (more olive oil) and they use limes instead of lemons. All of this makes it reminiscent of the texture of a chimi churi. I noticed that they also sell beer and wine and see many nights in my future eating there and enjoying a beverage with my bowl. I just went back to JJ's for my 2nd time and boy am I glad that I did. This restaurant is a "chipotle-style" build-it-yourself fusion between Mexican and Mediterranean (two of my favorite types of food). On my first trip I was simply overwhelmed by the selection of ingredients I could add to my burrito, wrap, salad, or bowl- so I made the amateur mistake of randomly throwing items into a bowl. While the flavors were all great, it didn't "work" like I knew it could. This trip I went back with a purpose. I decided to split my bowl into 2 halves (allowing me to still try 2 different flavors) and made one half Mexican (rice and beans as a base with sour cream on top) and the other half Mediterranean (tabouli base with tzatziki on top). This essentially gave me 2 meals to try, and they were both great! The guacamole was excellent as well! I was fortunate to meet JJ on this visit, and his customer service goes a long way. He truly cares about his customers and their feedback, and for this reason alone I would come back. I highly recommend you give this place a shot. My new favorite spot close to home! So I recently moved to the neighborhood, and while cleaning and unpacking I needed something quick and tasty, so of course I had to see what Yelp suggested. I'm so glad it took me to JJ's. I know the idea of a Mexican-Lebanese place sounds odd at first, but it works oh so well. The setup is very similar to Chipotle as you go and select a burrito/wrap/bowl and fill it up, but having the option to mix it up with lentils, tzaziki, and the like brings it up several notches. Also, I've never been a big fan of corn chips, so having fresh pita chips is a big plus. In all, it's fast food but super fresh, with huge portions and affordable prices. Also, I'm not one to judge the appearance of a place if the food is good, but I know other people are. JJ's is in a strip mall by Winn Dixie, but when you go in you can see they put effort and thought in decorating, it has a very modern atmosphere, mixing touches of reclaimed wood and metal, and did I mention the restroom is an adorable shade of avocado green?
