Birria Empanadas
Marcella M.

I have been dying to try this place because the food looks amazing on Instagram. I didn't want anything too big so I was suggested to get the Birria empanadas. I got one chicken and one beef. The empanadas were cooked to perfection, soft to bite into with a little crisp. Not hard or thick just a perfect crumble. The quality of everything was top tier but it was missing some flavor within the meat and the consume'. I was expecting that burst of flavor when you dip it and take that first bite with the consume' but I never got it. It was a good regular empanada with quality meat but I didn't feel the Birria experience. I would go back to see if the birria tacos are any better.

Food here is always on point. I always get the Mike's Burrito. We tried the new Birria Elote bowl and it was a hit! Service is great. Only took 5 to 10 minutes to get our food. We had plenty leftovers for the next day!

I've had Fuiyo Mexicana's famous birria tacos on my radar for quite some time and I finally got to try them this past weekend while visiting the Great Southern Box Company food hall. After years of doing mostly pop-ups in their food truck, they now have a permanent spot inside GSBC. I don't know what kind of magic juju they use to make their perfectly crispy cheese tortilla shells, but they definitely lived up to the hype. The order came with 3 large tacos which were great for sharing with my husband since we were wanting to try dishes from multiple vendors in the food hall. With this being my 3rd visit now, I have to say that Fuiyo Mexicana serves up some of the best food there. The beef birria was delicious and the consume broth for dipping them was rich & flavorful. You can also get them made with chicken if you prefer. They have many other yummy sounding birria dishes as well like birria eggrolls, ramen, empanadas, nachos, quesadillas, burritos, and more. I look forward to trying more of the menu the next time I visit.

Fuiyo Mexicana is definitely one of the best spots to go if you go to the Great Southern Box Company! Not only does their food look crazy, it tastes great as well. As you can see from the picture we got the massive birria tacos and I highly recommend you try it. The hall itself it's beautiful and has a lot of seating and the service at Fuiyo was great as well! They shared their knowledge of the menu and actually recommend the burrito.

Came for the infamous birria tacos and left with a full belly. The meat was tender and consume was packed with flavor from the peppers. The tortilla and crunchy cheese was almost cracker-like and added a nice crunch when biting into the taco. It was a great lunch that I needed a nap afterwards!

Finally got to come and try the food here which was amazing! We ordered the chicken and beef Birria tacos, Birria egg roll and Birria empanada. All are packed with flavor including the consomme.... portions are filling and service is fast and friendly... highly recommend coming to support them at the Great Southern Box Co.

So happy to see this business expanding and growing. Came to check them our for their grand opening and they surely never disappoints. They've added new menu items that are still in trial but their usual birria tacos remain untouched, phenomenal and packed with flavor ad always. They will he a great asset to this new wonderful and chill food hall. We will be back to continue exploring the menu.

Birra empanadas $10

You MUST order the birra empanadas, they were absolutely amazing! We only tried these but we will be back to try other items. The order of empanadas comes with 2 and the consume dipping sauce for $10. The empanadas have a substantial amount of meat and cheese and the dough texture is quite good. Service was fast and friendly! If you're looking for Mexican when visiting this is a definite yes!

Churritos, Mike's Birria Burrito & Fuiyo Birria Tacos

Friendly staff and yummy food! Overall we enjoyed everything we ate!! My only 2 critiques are: 1) I wish the meat had more depth of flavor. The birria didn't lack salt but lacked those Mexican flavors that give a special richness. Tasted more like a Cuban ropa vieja, or Puerto Rican carne guisada. Don't get me wrong, still TASTY but I was looking for more. And 2) the dip for the churros they said was "Nutella" did not taste the freshest or like the real thing. Maybe it was an off brand knock off?? So we didn't eat that. Regardless I'd still visit again :)

Chicken and steak birria tacos
Stephanie Z.

Tried both the chicken and steak tacos and definitely think the chicken was my favorite. The hot sauce with the lime and the cheesy crunch was just so tasty. This is located in a food hall and even though I went on St. Patrick's day and there was a DJ and a run club that stopped by there was plenty of space for everyone.

Deb B.

First time visiting this place and right off the bat I knew I will be coming back. The ambiance at this place was just awesome and energetic. There was a live dj and drummer playing when we walked in and immediately set the cool vibe. I could smell the tacos as soon as I walked in too. They had a sample of the food sitting out so that I immediately knew what it was going to look like and how much food it would be. The birria burrito is a nice portion and the little orange sauce with it was on point! These were some of the best tacos we've ever had and the burrito - just wow ok, wow. This thing had so much delicious flavor to it and even the rice tasted amazing. Everything was cooked just right and seasoned to perfection. I made sure to eat it slowly so I could really savor everything. I think Mike was the one that took our order and he was very nice and even gave us extra orange sauce. YUMM!!

These taco may be small, but they are packed with protein. They have very simple ingredients - corn tortillas (doubled up), a single protein, diced onions, fresh cilantro, lime wedges, and their salsa verde on the side. This time I got the carne asada, chorizo, and al pastor tacos. 3 tacos absolutely fills me up. The chorizo and al pastor tacos (both pork) were amazing. I was not impressed by the carne asada during my last visit. It was very dry and lacked seasoning. The other two hit the spot though and I'll still keep coming back for more.

Talking Tacos is, welcoming, and has a fun energy to it. I love the vibrant blacklight aesthetic! It has quickly become one of my favorite taco spots. The food came out fast and was super delicious! Everything tasted fresh, and the portions were generous for the price. The drinks were just as good as I remembered, and the free refills are always a huge plus! I love their version of a crunch wrap as well as anything birria that they offer. My only real gripe is that their drink selection is lacking as they don't have traditional soda fountain drinks. It is basically just canned drinks or custom flavored lemonade drinks, which typically cost around $5 each. Also, make sure to bring your wallet as their food in general is $$$ for fast casual. However, the higher quality makes it worth it to me.

5 Star update because this is still my go-to for exceptional tacos from a family-owned business!…read more(pro-tips: 1) get the fish taco immediately, 2) bring your vegetarian friends) I've been coming to Black Rooster since they first opened, but had to update my COVID-era review (because those times were straaange). I'm a creature of habit and am thankful for a restaurant that stays consistent in terms of quality and experience! PLUS, my husband and I can both find tons of options to eat here (not always easy when you're married to a vegetarian!). The vegetarian friendly options include their black beans, smoked greens taco, plantains, kale caesar salad, kale salad, BR nachos, and of course the chips, salsa, and made-to-order guac. My absolute faves food-wise: - The Smoked Greens taco. I'm not a vegetarian, but this vegetarian taco rivals any of its meat compadres. Made up of kale, shiitake mushroom, plantain, onion, ricotta cheese, and cilantro, this bad boy is smokey with that perfect little addition of sweet from the plantain. Truly a favorite! - The Black Rooster Asada. It looks pretty simple- some brown meat with cilantro on top. But don't let it's appearance deceive you! It's actually filled with seared beef, apple wood smoked bacon, Oaxaca cheese, chile poblano, onion, cilantro, 3 chile-tomato salsa. Because all of the ingredients are tossed together you get a wallop of flavor, with that basic look. She's not ideal for a colorful taco Instagram pic, but she's got more flavor then you can imagine! Spice level- Mild/Medium - Fish Taco. For a more picture-worthy option, this one's got colors upon colors! Crispy beer battered and local, pickled cabbage, remoulade sauce, avocado, cilantro, radish mean it's green, white, orange, purple, etc etc. She's a looker, but the flavor is there to back it up. Without a doubt this is my favorite fish taco in town. - Cilantro Poblano Rice. We love a green rice, and I could eat this on its own all day every day. Don't miss out on this often-overlooked side! Overall, a really wonderful business featuring great ingredients (including house-made tortillas). (and you can order delivery right from their website!)

While we were eating, the owner came over around 11:15 and barked, "Time to go--leave, leave, leave," as if he were chasing animals out of his restaurant. To be clear, I have no problem with being asked to leave after closing. The problem was the owner's arrogant, aggressive, and humiliating way of speaking to paying customers. We were not loud, causing trouble, or refusing to leave. One polite sentence would have solved everything. The most disturbing part is that this was not an untrained employee--it was the OWNER. That means the disrespect comes directly from the top. He was happy to accept our money at 10:50, but twenty minutes later treated us like garbage he needed removed. Good food cannot compensate for an owner who shows this much contempt toward his own customers. There are plenty of taco restaurants in Orlando run by people who understand basic manners and appreciate your business. Spend your money at one of them. I will never return to Black Rooster Taqueria, and I strongly recommend avoiding it.

Mexas has quickly become one of my go-to places to eat when I am in the Orlando area- both locations, although I think I love this express location best. I've now shared it with many of my favorite people (my son, my best friend, my boyfriend) on our trips together and everyone has been blown away. The birria is fantastic, full stop. My first time, I came for street tacos.... But as soon as I tried the birria it was over for me. I haven't wanted to order anything else since. The birria quesadilla is absolutely massive and meant to be shared with at least one other person. It's a counter service spot, and they tend to be busy if you come during peak times- but food service is always fast, and every time I've had a question, they have been super friendly and patient with answers. The margaritas are strong, but decent- they are clearly premixed so nothing outstanding, but still tasty and they do the job. The guacamole is also phenomenal. The sauce was small, but still ample enough to pour over the three tacos. The flavors were pretty good (thanks to the heat from the sauce) and it was filling enough for me, though the flour tortillas was a bit too hard for me. The service was pretty good, though I ordered from the kiosk and I picked up my order after they called my name. However, they did check up on me, as well a provided water to cops, and removed empty items from the tables. The staff were quite friendly. The dining area was small and a bit boring. There were 2TVs showing ads for their products, and 1 displaying a horse race. The restaurant was quite cramped, and I was thankful to find a table. It's located in downtown, so parking will be either in a meter or a garage. This restaurant serves pretty good tacos at a reasonable price, but the atmosphere was a bit bland for a taqueria. It was also small and can get crowded and full easily. Best to have this to go or delivered. It's still a nice restaurant for tacos in downtown.
