Went to Mexas Tacos because it was the nearest non-chain restaurant to my hotel. It is attached to a gas station convenience store, which means it's either really good or really bad. Fortunately, it was really good. It's decorated like many other Mexican restaurants, with colorful sombreros and pinatas. The ordering kiosk was as non-functional as the air conditioning that night, so I placed my order with the cashier located below the displayed menu board. They also have a self serve salsa bar. I ordered the birria pizza, and it came fast. I picked it up from the counter less than 5 minutes after placing my order. It was huge, and absolutely stuffed with birria meat, cheese, cilantro, and onions. It came with a cup of consommé, and it was delicious for dipping. I would definitely return. read more

The food was pretty good. I got the 5 tacos for $11.99. They come with your choice of corn or flour tortillas both hand made, your choice of meat, cilantro and onions. However you can pay extras for lettuce, tomatoes, sour cream, and cheese which is about $5 extra. I also had a mango margarita. I didn't like the tajin, on the rim and I didn't know it came with that until it was done. Margarita was $11.99. The food was pretty good nothing over the top and authentic. Decided to stop by Mexas and got shrimp tacos, a steak quesadilla and an al pastor taco. I like that they have a salsa bar where you can get your own hot sauces ranging from mild to hot. The medium hits nice in terms of flavor and spice. The shrimp tacos were breaded and were ok. In my opinion, I think they would've been better grilled, but nonetheless it was huge and filling as it came with three tacos. When I arrived, the small place had a steady amount of customers. Many of them were police officers. This made me hopeful since local law enforcement goes to the places that either a) have great food, b) great value, or c) both. I ordered a bowl and a taco. When I took my first bite, I got the answer to my analysis above. It was option c - the food was great and good value. Both dishes were hot as flavorful. At first I liked the taco more, but then I liked the bowl more - then I realized I liked whatever the current bite was more. This place is a gem. The staff were friendly and the location was clean, the place had a family atmosphere. We ordered chips with salsa and queso. The chips were fresh and both dips were seasoned well and tasted great. We got the 10 tacos meal, and shared as it comes 5 to a plate, if not so hungry then you can get tacos individually... and they have many types of meat to choose from too! They also have some other options, tamales (we tried the chicken one in a salsa verde), a large variety of drink options as well as a salsa bar (the creamy sauce is so delicious and not spicy for those of you that can't do spices). Kids options include chicken tenders or cheese quesadillas with fries and drink, choice of meat can be added to that as well. A small variety of cocktails and Mexican beers are available as well, first place that has the Modela Dark my husband likes. Soft drinks like Coca Cola and Inca Kola, plus Pony Malta and Agua frescas. Also a choice of Spanish desserts on the menu, or Rajo Zero popsicle (rice flavor is available.) Plus daily specials. It's a colorful place, wheelchair accessible, and kid friendly. Everyone is nice and friendly, and we were greeted as we approached the counter. And not so bad that the gas station is right through a walkway, so if you're traveling it's a nice one stop off, get authentic food at a reasonable deal, then pop next door to get some snacks for your road trip although the gas be only as a final resort since it's a bit high...(you'll know when you know.) You could tell real care was put into packaging and delivery. The tacos were outstanding. We tried both the 5 Tacos mix (chicken and barbacoa) and the Birria Tacos, and both were packed with flavor. The tortillas were fresh, the meat tender, and the extra cilantro and onion really made it pop. The Mexican rice and refried beans were the perfect sides, authentic and flavorful in just the right portion. Chips and salsa were fresh and crisp, and the salsa had just enough kick without overpowering. Everything tasted like it came straight from the restaurant kitchen to our table, even though it was a late-night order. We drove to the Vineland location to be met at the door by another male employee (it was 11:08pm and the posted closing is midnight) he informed us the restaurant closed early. I asked if the manager from the other store had called to let him know we were coming and he said they had not. Both locations had customers eating in the dining area.
