We stopped by while in the area for a little snack. The prices are a little higher than back in the day when I used to live on that side of town but its been about 10 years. Not in the best area (OBT) but I had always picked up food to go which most do. We odered a few street tacos and ate there at one of the picnic tables. If you eat there like we did you might see a homeless person which we did and offered him a taco. Service was fine not much interaction because you order at the window then go grab it. Ambiance, I mean its an old checkers but like I said most order pick up and take their food to go. Food is still good as I remeber tho. I only give it a 4 star because prices and location. But I'd eat there again.
I'm from San Antonio Texas so I would listen to my review. I used to eat Tex Mex and Mexican for breakfast lunch and dinner. This place IS GOOD!!! taste real! Doesn't taste fake like Taco Bell, everything taste real and homemade. I'm not lying. They are pretty efficient. I've read the drive through takes a while and while that is a little true (it's not a chain like McDonald's and it's real ass food so give them a break!) they still did make me a priority and get my food out to me while the person in front of me food was taking a while. I highly recommend. TRY IT NOW! It's like a rally's where u can drive through it or park and order at the window and sit outside. I got the nachos with chicken and the rice and beans sooo gooodddd
Believe them. They are the king of the torta sandwich. I have been coming here for over a decade and I only wish I lived closer. I have eaten tortas all over and it still reigns true that Tortas del Rey is king. Honestly if you're coming here and eating anything else you're missing out. It's literally in the name.
I really wanted to like Tortas el Rey, after watching so many videos on TikTok and reading reviews on yelp it had me excited that I could finally find a taco stand that was reminiscent of the places I used to visit in Pilsen while living in Chicago. However, this was not to be. While visiting on a Thursday evening with no large crowd, we looked at the menu and ordered tacos for me and a chorizo burrito for my son. The taco fillings I chose were one each of: carne asada, chicken, Al pastor, and carnitas. We both ordered Horchata, then had an extended delay in waiting for our food to be prepared. I wish I could say that the extended delay for the food was worth it however I would be lying. My tacos were filled with a generous portion of meat, onions, and cilantro, and that's the best thing I could say about them while the tortillas were warm the filling was lukewarm about the same temperature as the onions my son, however, had a scalding hot interior to his burrito, which was so loosely wrapped that it fell apart. Every other taco place that I have ever visited has always given you two salsa cups for four tacos however there must be a shortage with their Verde salsa because I got one salsa for four tacos. The best thing about our visit was the Horchata at least that was good.
Don't come here for fancy... come here for excellent tacos at an incredibly reasonable price. $2.75 for one soft taco PACKED with meat. There are tons of meat selections from marinated pork, fried pork, chicken, steak, etc. They also have tamales, burritos, flautas, tortas, nachos, aqua frescas, and even desserts! You order at the walk-up window and there are a few tables outside to eat or you can drive up. Food comes out fast. Everything we ate was delicious. The best taco I had was the El pastor taco. The steak was a close second. The rice pudding was worth a try as well.
Carne Asada Tacos were a HIT!! The green sauce complimented the tacos perfectly, medium spice. The staff was very friendly. There is only outside seating and a drive through. The outside seating is clean and has umbrellas. Would def recommend if you're in the Florida Mall area.
The closest thing to a SoCal taco shop in Orlando! I miss Taco Shops from San Diego. I know I can come here and get a piece of home. The onions are POTENT here so beware of that. I usually try to order with no onions if I can remember. Everything I've eaten here is so good! My faves: -Carne Asada burrito (no onions) -Fried Pork burrito (no onions) -Pork Tamale I prefer ordering ahead and picking up. When you order at the walk up window or drive through, it's about a 10-15 min wait if it isn't busy. There's outside seating with an umbrella shade at each table. There's minimal parking spaces and it's on a busy street(OBT). The food is worth every trip. I've never been disappointed with the food. The service varies but it's never bad. Some people are friendlier than others.
I can't imagine finding better tortas anywhere in Orlando. Everyone I've brought here has fallen in love with them and the horchata. It's a fast-food restaurant with a drive-thru and outside seating area. Please be aware that the wait came be long. I've gone late at night and waited 40 mins behind 6-8 cars. This isn't the place to choose if you're really hungry.
This place is spectacular. I've yet to try a torta, but I assume they are incredible given the name of the restaurant. My go-to is the steak taco with queso fresco added. So much flavor while being simple. They are small, so order at least 2-3 of them. I love that they give you lime wedges, two different salsas, and pickled veggies on the side. I also love the price! Do yourself a favor and order a sope, too. My favorite is with chorizo. They are very filling, so one is plenty. Order in advance. Then pick up. It's a much faster in-out that way. They have a few parking spots and tables. But I prefer to drive up and go.

The flavor reminded me of "mole" which I loved! The to go packaging was also thoughtful! Will be back whether it's delivery or pick up! Authentic and well priced! Way to go, Tortas El Rey.
such a great easy spot to pop in for lunch or dinner! quick and friendly service. you just order at the counter and pick it up! they also have a drive thru option which is nice. my tacos were perfect and hit the spot. for $3 tacos and $2 hard tacos it's hard to beat. all seating is outdoor which worked fine this evening because it was very nice out. it's easy to understand why this place is so beloved!
Best authentic Mexican Tacos I've had in awhile. I kept hearing about Tortas El Rey, so I had to go see for myself. There's outside seating but also a drive-through and DoorDash available if you want to take it to go. Go here knowing what you're about to get, Mexican street food! Loved it so much, especially the price point. We got a feast, practically. For $35 we got 6 tacos, a sope, a Huarache and a Horchata. We didn't eat for the rest of the day from how full we were. Will definitely be returning for more tacos. The order took a bit but the day was so beautiful we didn't mind the wait. The staff was also kind so no complaints there as well.

Talk about a go to for Mexican food! I wanted some food to take to work for lunch the next day and since I work at 5 am I gotta plan ahead. I got two burritos. Carnitas and Chorizo and it comes with all the sides. Pickled veg, jalapeños and salsas. I got a torta asada which comes with avocado, lettuce, tomato and is on a fresh bun. The portions are so generous I have to eat half and the other one the next day. It keeps well and was so delicious as an encore! read more
Here for the al pastor tacos always. I could eat 5+ in one sitting but I limit myself to 2-3. Drive thru can be a bit slow on occasion solely due to them making everything to order, so I'm happy to wait. Walk up window or drive thru for ordering; no inside access for guests. Abundant outdoor seating with covering. Great prices and service. read more

Those little tacos were the perfect snack before going home to prepare dinner. I believe we shared 2 a piece that day. The tacos were fresh and hot. They were packaged well. The service was friendly and and quick at the drive-thru. I need to visit again when I am not in a hurry so that I can try new things from the menu. The chicken is best in the tamales, which have the perfect amount heat and flavor. The beef taco is amazing, I had 3 and then 3 more. Finally, the price and location make it so convenient for locals. They are one of my go to taco joints! read more

Both tacos were good. The Al pastor was definitely better. It was fresh, hint of cilantro, well spiced. The wait was not that bad. 10mins for 2 tacos. Nice place for late night eats. The price was even better. 2.55$ per taco. The only complaint - it was a little greasy. read more

I've always pass this place and never been one day on my way into the office I decided to give this place a go. I wasn't sure what to order but the taco looked promising my colleagues told me to do their lunch special. Which I did and it was four tacos with a drink . The tacos come with cilantro and onions which I personally enjoy. (I know some do not) the chicken lacked more flavor in my opinion however for 10 bucks how can someone truly complain? My colleague got the steak she let me try that which I thought was just too greasy. I would go back and try the pork to see if that is good. I do wish they offered jaritos but they didn't disappoint with the limeade they do offer. Expect a slight wait as well it wasn't too bad as they were just opening up at 10;30 am but there was a wait. The drive through is like checkers but you can only use one side. I believe the other side is for walk ups. They do offer plenty of other items but the most cost effective is the lunch special med drink and 4 tacos for 10.50!. read more

Don't sleep on the $1.00 hard shell tacos at Tortas. They have beef , potatoes, cheese, and lettuce. So warm and delicious - especially for the price. Very filling! Will return again. This location is about 5-10 minutes from Florida mall. Area is a bit sketchy, but most places with good food are. read more

I really had high hopes for this place based on recommendation and reviews but unfortunately I was let down. I drove almost 20 minutes out of my way to try Tortas El Rey. When I arrived there was a line at the drive-thru which I thought was a good sign, but it was likely due to the orders taking a bit longer as they are made to order. The drive thru Attendant was very nice, boosting this review to a 3 star The location is simple, its an old remodel Checkers so theres only drive thru and a pick up window with a few benches. I wanted to try a few tacos, so I ordered the Cabeza(Beef head), Al Pastor, & Carne Asada. The the biggest issue I had was flavor or lack there of. The Carne Asada was very bland to me, the cabeza was a little better but not much. The al pastor overwhelmingly tasted like cinnamon to me, which I'm not the biggest fan of but atleast it had more seasoning/flavor. All in all I was disappointed with my visit, my all time favorite taco spot in Brandon, FL Chicken Taco Loco still holds the crown of best tacos I have had in Central FL. read more
BEST LATE NIGHT CRAVINGS! I often visit this local gem after work for some late night cravings for authentic tacos. Personally, it's the best tacos I've tried in Orlando and the best price. It is loaded with meat and my all time favorites are the el pastor and the asada. There's a drive thru and outside seatings. It tends to be pack at night and might be a bit of a wait but it is worth visiting! read more

I was thinking about this place this weekend while my mouth was watering thinking about it. So it's been while since I have been here for tacos. I think last order was a burrito. So came in and 30 mins after opening so there were no patrons as yet since they kinda just opened. I ordered the 4 tacos with a drink lunch special. I upgraded the drink to a large Horchata and it was billed additional $1.50 on the tab. So the total with the lunch special was around $12ish. The wait was kind of long. They make orders as they are ordered. Only thing I don't like is when they call out your order they are loud so with no mask the food and whatever that comes out when they yell your name lands on the food I am ASSUMING. The platter is full of meat on the tacos btw. The taste : Salty and Unseasoned. I would never come back here again for that. I could have went to PLAZA MEXICO in wahneta in polk county for better authentic tacos. Tortas el ray SHREDS THE MEAT and thats what I do not like as well. Thats cheaper to serve it that way in my opinion rather than cubed or chopped meats.. Just the saltiness when I first took a bite of the carne asada was just ughhhhh . And lack of flavor too. It was pretty much shredded meat and salt and then cooked. Topped with onions and cilantro. TIP: since they give you tons of meat and 2 soft tortilas per taco..You can split the meat and use it to the other tortilla making it 8 tacos instead of 4! They give you tons of meat to do this. The Horchata was delicious more vanilla taste than cinnamon. But it was creamy than watery like others do it. The cashier was kinda slow taking my order which is odd because my order was simple. And no other customers were behind. The register POS system was modern so I do not see why she took it slow taking orders. I did not get the pickled beggies that you usually get with an order which is carrot and something else. I would stick to PLAZA MEXICO for my next round of authentic mexican tacos. I was REALLY looking forward to trying this place after hearing all the hype about it and was a bit disappointed! I got one of each tacos because why not; they we're pretty inexpensive at $1+ per tacos. My favorite in order would be chicken, carne asada, cabeza, chorizo, and Al pastor. My favorite tacos are always alpastor and chorizo, but I found the chorizo to be bery salty for my liking and the al pastor to be a bit too sweet/soggy (the meat seemed shredded and I'm more use to it in small diced portions). I got all the toppings and really did enjoy their green and red spicy sauces; I found the green one to be spicier. I paired this with a pineapple agua fresca, which was a bit too sweet and tasted box made. I ordered 2 of each tacos (1 of each for me and my significant other) plus a drink for a total of about $30 something. The price was good for the amount of food because these tacos were LOADED. The service was really quick, my tacos all came out, in seperate plates, in a matter of minutes given for how many I ordered I was pleased! The workers were friendly and efficient. There is only outside seating here with a good amount of tables. You order at the window and then wait for your food to be called out; they also have a drive thru which is cool! Again, I was a bit disappointed after hearing so many good things about this place; but I have to give it to them for their service and quantity of food for the price you pay! read more

I have heard of this spot for Soo long and many colleagues and friends have always recommended here saying it was one of the best taco spots in Orlando. For what's it's worth, place was easy to find , and kind of easy to spot, but located just off the main road OBT, and located next to Bombay Kitchen. Parking was simple but very small given how big the actual business is. They do have a drive thru Order and kind of similar to a checkers design based on size and style. Personally wasn't as impressed as I thought I would be because I had a mix of reviews on a good amount of the menu items. For sure had to get me some tacos since this is the spot it was known for. For one thing, tacos were cheap at around $2-2.50. And they offer about 6 options such as chicken, steak, pork, sausage, and beef head. I tried them all but a good amount of them were just salty. My favorite had to be just the chicken, steak, and beef head. Really nice flavor with a mix of the green sauce and it was good to go. Service was great since they were fast and had us taken care of within like 5-10 mins, but I'm not sure if I would come back, but still overall great place and I still suggest to check it out because they have plenty of other options to try from. read more

I ordered 5 carne asada street tacos and they were amazing!!!! They remind me of the authentic tacos when I lived in Los Angeles. I will definitely be driving over 40 minutes for more of these yummy, flavorful and stacked with meat tacos. read more

First of this place is a hidden/not so hidden gem ! I've passed by this place for yeaaaaaarrrrs and always see a line, but I never inquired about what they sell. I just so happen to see a Tik Tok video review of this place and I had to get there IMMEDIATELY! I ordered a few different things and enjoyed everything. I felt like a real big mamma after ordering so much and taste testing every single item, even the items I technically brought for my husband. I started with Tacos (4) . I ordered 2 chorizo, 1 carne asada & 1 Al Pastor . Then I ordered a steak Tortas. 2 gorditas steak & pork. 2 aqua frescas (horchata & pineapple). The drive through line was so long so I parked & did a window order. It took about 25-30 minutes for my food to be done. The food was delicious, I just wished I had said no onions on my tacos because it sooooo many diced onions and it kinda overpowered the taste of the meat. The Gordita's was my favorite and Both of my aqua frescas were delicious. The food tastes just like someone's abuela is in the kitchen cooking & putting her whole heart and soul into the meals. The place is inexpensive to me, but don't be fooled once you start ordering the small numbers creep up on you fast and BOOM your total is $75. Overall this place is not new, but new to me and If you haven't been already definitely check them out and let me know what you think . You can't miss the place it's right on OBT if your heading towards FL Mall from N OBT. read more
