Inside, the fun, loud atmosphere, our table enjoyed great service from Alejandra. My wife ordered the steak fajitas, with choice of flour or corn tortillas. The steak was seasoned and grilled for a tender and delicious taco. The abundance of the dish meant we had leftovers for lunch the next day! I ordered a Mexican Old Fashioned and enjoyed the smoke, Mezcal, and Buffalo Trace. It "hit the spot" for this celebration and our fajita dish. Chips and salsa arrive at the table, for free, before the meal. I enjoyed the crunch and the spice. For the (paid) birthday celebration, the VIDA Cocina staff brought a lighted ballon display, a small torch on a bottle, and a huge cake, and then enthusiastically sang a birthday song. We enjoyed an all-around fun time, made even more so because we didn't know what to expect going in. Outdoor seating, when it's not raining. Plenty of parking.

The only redeeming qualities were the service was fast/friendly and the presentation is very nice. But as others mentioned, the salsa is strange and much like everything else has no flavor. I ordered a $12 margarita to start and it came in a comically small glass. We ordered the yucca fries and they looked perfectly golden and nicely sized but were nearly inedible from how salty they were. Thankfully the server took it off the bill. My husband got the chile relleno which boasted roasted vegetables but I guess they were referring to the undercooked sweet mini peppers stuffed inside? Also I'm not sure they have a heat lamp for staging. Nothing was hot when it arrived and the cheese his relleno rested on had congealed. I ordered the chicken street tacos which also looked very nice when it arrived but were dry, unseasoned, grilled chicken strips with pickled onions on top but then cilantro and white onions on the side and more of those sweet peppers. I think they're relying pretty heavily on them to provide Mexican flavor but they do not. I want to go on but I don't want to be rude... it's just so objectively bad and overpriced. There are plenty of Mexican restaurants that are worth an extra 15 minute drive so I do not recommend. Sorry jag

We ordered the Elotes off the cob ($11.99) and the Molcajete ($30) which is grilled fajita steak, chicken, chorizo, shrimp, onions, nopal cactus and cheese. We also ordered one Margarita ($16). We first experienced a Molcajete in a restaurant in Mazatlan, Mexico and fell in love with it and all of its ingredients including the cactus. This Molcajete at Cocina Maya was soooo tasty. Served in an actual Molcajete which is made from lava rock and it holds the heat very very well. We shared this between the two of us and still had a decent amount to bring home with us. The Elotes was very tasty and the corn was nice and firm and it was perfect. Service was friendly and attentive. The dining room is light in colors and there is a lot of light that shines through the windows. This restaurant is a good distance from our home, and well worth the drive to it. We most definitely recommend this tasty restaurant.

My only complaint was the enchiladas verde dinner was so tiny- it looked like a child's meal, and my dining companion was still totally hungry after. I ordered the pizzabirria and it was absolutely delicious and HUGE. I would most definitely return, but strongly suggest avoiding the embarrassingly tiny enchiladas.

We were going to need to stop by Lowe's anyway to pick up a hose clamp for securing the dryer vent hose (prior owners used zip ties for that purpose...really?) so we decided to try out Azul after our painters provided positive experiences after eating lunch there. It was a late lunch so the place wasn't packed. We were seated immediately...place seemed spacious and had a lively vibe with various tequila-themed neon signs. I ordered their carnitas plate and my wife chose the spinach quesadilla WITHOUT mushrooms off the lunch special menu. The tortilla chips were warm but the salsa, while decent, tasted sweet and lacked some punch. When our meals were served, it became apparent that my wife's quesadilla had plenty of mushrooms, even after the server repeated my wife's order of no mushrooms. I couldn't wait for our server to return with her meal so I proceeded to sample their carnitas. When I initially asked our server how their carnitas were, she said they're "pretty good"...and I would think the carnitas were just OK. My wife, once her meal was served after what felt like a long wait, liked her quesadilla. She thought the spinach flavor shined through. All in all, a decent meal with nice presentation that would suffice if we were hankering for Mexican food and didn't want to drive far. Lunch for 2 with tip came out to about $36.

Everyone in the entire restaurant was wearing sweatshirts. Some pros and cons: It's inside the Hilton hotel so it's convenient for those staying there. If you're not staying there, it's not so convenient. Parking is $40! You have to get validation and you only get that if you spend $75 or more. The Resy reservation system says you have to purchase two entrees to get it, so it's conflicting. Parking is in a garage which you have to take the elevator. They also have valet which is fine for those who want to tip. Our server was working hard, very nice and apologetic. The food was just ok. We got- 2 carne asada quesadillas, 1 kids carne asada quesadilla and chips with salsa. The green salsa was the highlight! I ordered my quesadilla without pepper and onion and I ended up getting pepper and onion, so it honestly wasn't enjoyable for me. It was greasy. I don't like sending back food. I ended up wrapping it to go. Overall, the vibe was that of a hotel restaurant with mediocre food and overpriced but good servers!!
