They're an Orlando staple and there's a reason why locals love them. It's drive-thru only with some outdoor patio seating, but if you're like me, you just pull into a random parking lot after and chow down in your car in the A/C. These taco may be small, but they are packed with protein. They have very simple ingredients - corn tortillas (doubled up), a single protein, diced onions, fresh cilantro, lime wedges, and their salsa verde on the side. This time I got the carne asada, chorizo, and al pastor tacos. 3 tacos absolutely fills me up. The chorizo and al pastor tacos (both pork) were amazing. I was not impressed by the carne asada during my last visit. It was very dry and lacked seasoning. The other two hit the spot though and I'll still keep coming back for more.

Ever since I moved to Orlando in 2021 from Chicago, I can not find a good real authentic Mexican restaurant that serves real tacos. That should probably tell you something. I started with the chips and green chile queso, and it was fantastic. The kind of queso where you tell yourself you're just going to have a little, and then suddenly you're scraping the bottom of the bowl wondering where it all went. For tacos, I went with a breakfast taco and the Republican, Trashy Style. The Republican is a brisket taco, and I replaced the lettuce with queso because apparently I have decided that vegetables are optional when there is queso available. That turned out to be an excellent decision. The food here is just excellent. Fresh, tasty, and absolutely bursting with flavor. Everything I'm looking for when I go out to eat. And yes, I know this is a quick-serve restaurant. But sometimes quick serve gets a bad rap. When the food is this fresh and this good, I don't care if I'm ordering at a counter or being served by someone in a tuxedo. I went out of my way to get to Torchy's in Orlando, and I would absolutely do it again. Five stars.

The restaurant was pretty empty when I went, and I'd say the food took somewhere between 6-10 minutes to come out. Unfortunately, this location didn't have the fried cookie dough bites for dessert, which I loved growing up. Hopefully they haven't been discontinued everywhere!

So I had to go to my ole reliable restaurant for tacos. I arrived without a reservation on a Saturday early evening, and was able to sit in the bar. The bartender told me about their popular drink options, an explained their home made margaritas. I did their regular margarita on the rocks (about 13 or 14 dollars), which they freshly squeezed the citruses to a juice, then added the tequila and other ingredients. It tasted fresh, refreshing, and just had the right amount of tequila to fiesta. For the tacos, I chose the chicken verde, duck, fish, and shrimp tacos, and a small cucumber salad as a side. Each taco has an ample amount of meat and toppings, but they are mostly bite sized that can be finished in two to three bites. The meats are fresh and delicious, and the sauces enhanced the flavor. To kick it up a notch, I added the jabenaro sauce too. My favorite had to be duck as it was tender and had the gamey flavor I enjoy! The cucumber salad was refreshing, but the chili flakes they had did give me a donkey kick. For dessert, the tres leches came in a mason jar, and was moist and rich. Just enough to have me filled and satisfied. The service was excellent, with the bartender and manager checking up on me a couple times. While there weren't many patrons when I came in early, it did get more crowded later in the evening. The music was great as well. I must say Bartaco is the Domu of taco restaurants. But something that is genuinely underrated about bartaco is the fact that their teams are consistently some of the kindest, most memorable hospitality crews I have ever encountered, no matter what city I find myself in. I am a bartaco Coconut Grove loyal through and through, but I grew up going to the Dr. Phillips location, and coming back felt in a way like coming home. What truly solidified that feeling was the unbelievable customer service, especially from Andrew, the manager who was there the night I visited. I went to cap off my birthday after a day at the parks, and in Orlando, not a lot of places are open that late, so I am so glad I ended up here! And even though we arrived at the tailend of their shift, the crew treated us like absolute royalty and with so much care. All the dishes were flavored to absolute perfection, the classic bartaco flavors but somehow elevated to a whole new level, and the customer service was something I will genuinely never forget. No matter how much time passes, I will always find my way back to a bartaco in whatever city I can. Whether it's for the comfort food I already love or the chance to meet yet another incredible team, bartaco will never let you down!
