This is more of a grab and walk kind of place. Somehow, even on the hottest day in a long time & a Saturday, we got there with no line, but I am sure that is not the regular. Well, I'm here to change all that. This place checked all the boxes. Their Cookies 'n Cream that had that silvery gray consistency with healthy helpings of Oreo. The scoop size was generous, the prices were not outrageous, and the location was picturesque. For any travelers, it's not too far off the highway so you can get back on track pretty quickly. Simply delicious. Plenty of great flavor and topping options. If anything, it can get a little overwhelming with all of the possibilities all over the place in different formats but it's what you can expect from an ice cream shop. The staff was courteous and I would recommend this place. Just be prepared for some street parking and have cash available (or a debit card for the ATM). read more

I decided to try the cone of butter pecan & bourbon. Very good, but the ice cream was very melty and I prefer mine to be a bit harder. My friend and I had just left Frenchtown looking for dessert as a reward for a good morning's work. I cranked up YELP and found this tiny corner ice cream parlor - fortunately, right on our route home. We were surprised that, in February, a small town ice cream parlor would be open but, happily it was. They have lots of tempting flavors - I think the brand served is Turkey Hill. Not what I consider "premium" (my wife is a fan) but certainly quite acceptable. My friend had one of their exotic flavors - mocha chip but I went for my stand-by, vanilla. Both were good and fresh - no ice crystals! That means they know what they are doing - bravo. The main reason to visit is probably their wall menu of interesting sounding shakes, sodas and sundaes. They boast: if you can think of it, they can make it. I guess this sort of thing is more of a temptation for a younger ice cream fan and I'm sure quite popular in the warmer months. For me, I'm more of a simple flavor ice cream guy - chocolate, vanilla and coffee being my downfall. In a sugar cone, of course. By the way, the size of my "single scoop" was generous. A double scoop may have been too big for a cone - more of a cup thing or a cone in a cup (I've see that to.) The shop was clean. We came here after having lunch at Designer Dawgs next door. The line was long and slow but there was only one guy working and was covering the front and back so we felt bad for the guy and I won't knock a star for that because perhaps someone called out and also the guy was hustling. I ordered a soft serve vanilla which was really good, our oldest loved the strawberry Italian ice, our youngest throughly enjoying eating (and wearing) the Cookie Monster, and my fiancé really enjoyed the blueberry Maine. The serving sizes were a little funky (my small was smaller than our kid's small lol) but they have a wide variety of flavors and it's a cute shop on Main Street. Well, I won't be returning here. I have never felt more unwelcome. I get that this is a small shop and crowds can form, but to tell me to order or get out (by the owner too) is quite rude. I stop in here all the time after taking my dog hiking nearby because they're the only place within miles that makes dog ice-cream. They make it there themselves from all natural, harmless dog ingredients like peanut butter, bananas, and ice. My dog, Nikya love it and whenever we pass the shop she starts begging for it. Super friendly staff and they have a seating area in the front and out back in a fenced in patio area. The quintessential small town local ice cream shop. I recommend the "doggie ice-cream" for your furry friends and you can never go wrong with their vanilla soft serve. Note: you can't bring your dog inside but the staff is more than happy to bring the icecream out to you if need be and the locals are always friendly enough to either buy it for you or hold your dog for you if you're going there alone. Wide variety of unusual blends, not so much vanilla-strawberry-chocolate. Available in 1, 1-1/2, and 2-scoop servings, cup or cone. Mrs. I said her waffle cone was very good, unfortunately, "cones" and "mustaches" ate not mutually complimentary, so I had a cup. IC is not homemade. According to the person who waited on us, it is a wide array of premium flavors, from various makers, selected annually at an IC convention. It's a small shop, but with friendly service. We got a scoop of pumpkin hard ice cream and a chocolate peanut butter Sunday. There was a good amount of peanut butter swirl in the ice cream. There are no seats in side, there are a few out side. Most people stand eating their ice cream or you can head back to your car. A restaurant would easily run us 50% more for the same dessert. Don't know what JJ Scoops ice cream tastes like, they only accept cash. If there's one thing that is beyond annoying, is local businesses stuck in the 60's and 70's, not accepting credit cards, or, having minimums. I recently moved to Clinton over the past year, and love supporting local businesses. Nonetheless, the counter help said cheerfully "we have an ATM!". Yes, because, after ATM fees, I want to pay $8 for an ice cream sundae. And no, credit card fees are not so extraordinary that it's worth losing business over. I know, I am in retail business. We accept credit cards no matter how little you spend. Its the price of doing business and bringing convenience to customers and driving volume, unless a business wants to selectively report income. This was my first time visiting JJ Scoops. Absolutely delightful and oh so yummy. The coconut ice cream is creamy and reminded me of a good humor coconut bar of my youth. I also had the lemon cookie flavor, which was very refreshing. My husband throughly enjoyed Java chip and a scoop of Maine blueberry. I must say the Maine blueberry was bursting with blueberry flavor. You cannot go wrong with a stop here. As an added bonus they have a delightful patio that is overflowing with colorful flowers. I recently found myself passing through Clinton. I had never been before, I had no reason to go to this part of the state. The town itself is cute and clean. It's seldom that we take the kids out for ice cream, but since it was hot and we were exploring we decided to stop in. When you enter the building the first thing I noticed is how low the ceilings are. Yes, it's an older building, but it feels a little claustrophobic. It's not a spacious place. There really isn't anywhere to sit, 1 table outside I think is it. The choices were not as robust as I would have hoped for, but they were satisfactory. The service was friendly enough and quick. Prices were fair. I don't think this is the type of place that anyone goes out of their way to get to, but it serves it's purpose. If I could, I would give it 2.5 stars. read more

Took my grand kids there last night- was annoyed that the one kid working was giving her friends free ice cream in front of us. (She didn't think anyone noticed). I got a couple of sundaes for the kids and they really add up when you want to add any toppings.
