Oreo Cookies 'n Cream tub. Could tell from the gray color that it would be terrific.

I was driving back to New York with a craving for ice cream, and came across this place. Initially I was skeptical as the rating score wasn't great and there weren't any pics of cookies 'n cream. Well, I'm here to change all that. This place checked all the boxes. Their Cookies 'n Cream that had that silvery gray consistency with healthy helpings of Oreo. The scoop size was generous, the prices were not outrageous, and the location was picturesque. For any travelers, it's not too far off the highway so you can get back on track pretty quickly. I'll definitely return here on my next trip to/from PA.

It's a cute little ice cream shop in downtown Clinton, NJ. Their ice cream is creamy and good. If I revisited the town of Clinton, I would return. I like the vibe of this ice cream shop and Clinton Town. The service was good; I have no complaints here. I was looking for Rocky Road, but they were not serving that ice cream today, so I got a maple walnut ice cream instead. It was good.

Cute local ice cream shop. Polite young lady behind the counter. Some of the best mint chocolate chip I've ever had. Unfortunately they were out of the chocolate peanut butter but their plain chocolate was an acceptable replacement. Btw....cash only.

Cute little shop on Main Street in Clinton. Lots of interesting flavors, the young lady at the counter was very pleasant, and the prices are very reasonable for the area. Everyone liked the flavors they selected, so we will definitely be repeat customers!

As a non native to New Jersey - we heard good things about JJ Scoops and wanted to check it out. A MUST STOP BY IF YOU ARE IN THE AREA! The staff there were all super friendly and went ABOVE and BEYOND as a team effort to see if their dairy free flavor was also gluten free (like calling their boss for me!). Thank you for the delicious ice cream that was also safe for me to eat!

Step back in time and enjoy the old time flavors of yesteryear. Grab a sweet treat as you walk through town and enjoy the sights of Clinton. Try the Blueberry Cheesecake or Lemon Bar if you are into a refreshing taste or if you are looking for a JJ Scoops specialty grab Jolted Cow. Don't forget to bring the cash but if you forget there is an ATM on site!

Delicious Ice Cream! There was a large variety, and the staff were so friendly. The ice cream was delicious, and I loved the lemon bar and the kettle corn flavored ice cream! I will define let's come here again!

The selection is INCREDIBLE and I love the hand written signs. Gives this place an awesome small town authentic feel.

J J Scoops is the perfect example of a traditional small town ice cream shop. It's cash only, so be sure to hit the ATM. Inside you will find every combination your heart desires. The service was quick and the treat was delicious. Clinton has beautiful sidewalks and a bridge to stroll while you enjoy. I loved every minute of my time at J J's!

Tasteless ice cream. Tried 3 different flavors. Blah. Hard to mess up ice cream, but I'd never waste my calories on this.

Summertime is a great…read moreseason to explore places far and away especially rest for great food. ‍ As I was searching for farms and produce stands, I noticed this business and since I love pancakes here, there and everywhere, I planned a day away that included farm stands, backroad NJ scenic driving and fruity pancakes. Due to circumstances beyond my control, we arrived at noon on Thursday, breakfast ended at 11am and so we pivoted to lunch items that included a Boars Head cheesesteak, chips and pickle plus a really tasty cheeseburger . As we were leaving, my husband decided on a large chocolate peanut butter milkshake which he deemed awesome. (Thanks Todd for stepping in and making one) We stopped at our pre planned list of farm stands and headed home. Very next day, Friday, up at dawn to get a few chores out of the way so we could head out to Gronsky's for the day #2 breakfast deadline! I prefer sitting at the counter and watching their magician, Tyler, assemble the food for orders, crack open the eggs, drop the pancake batter in the proper corner and keep all meats aligned for the plates. He's the king of that kitchen and each one of those servers is the queen doing the hustle, bustle, slide to the left, back up and move forward like square dancers on the move. From the Taylor ham, provolone and fried egg sandwich on that FRESH Kaiser roll to the omelette with those delicious home fries and my PEACH PANCAKE . . . . all of it was their special take on breakfast served their way. Almost 50 years, folks! Prices are absolutely reasonable for how the food is prepared and presented, quality ingredients cooked according to diners' specifications. What more can you ask for? We'll be back for September POTM!!

It was very busy when we got there, but they had three employees working between the walk-up window and the inside counter, so the line kept moving. There is plenty of seating both inside and outside, which made it easy for our group to find places to sit and enjoy our ice cream. Even with the crowd, the staff did a good job keeping up with the orders and everything moved along efficiently. If you're looking for a classic spot to grab some ice cream on a warm evening, Gronsky's is definitely worth a stop.

I don't usually write reviews, but you're charging $8.75 for what signs in the shop and the counter person called "a pint" of ice cream. My wife was so upset at the sizing that she refused to have any ice cream. Our boys and I went ahead with the purchase despite the price. Now, charge whatever you want if people are okay paying it, but the "pint" clearly wasn't really a pint. Truth in advertising still matters. The "pint" paper container actually holds about a cup of ice cream. We know this because I saved the container, brought it home, and measured its volume. One measuring cup of water (8 oz.) filled the container pretty close to full, about half an inch from the top. You have a lovely shop and I wish you much success. At the same time, please stop telling customers that they're buying a "pint" of ice cream when they're really buying about a cup of ice cream. Label it something else, "Standard," "Regular," "Large" (compared to the pops), or whatever. Calling something a pint when it clearly isn't only hurts your credibility as a proprietor and sullies the customer experience. Thank you.

There is new ownership recently, and they kept much of the original menu as well as adding some new dishes. Recent experience wasn't great... Service really suffering, took 20 minutes to get our first drink. Also - the cocktail pours are extremely light for what they are charging. Food was OK... Pizza has always been very good here but recently they just don't seem to season it at all. Two of us ordered the fish of the day @$39...small piece of cod, and just four pieces of potato ...meaning two small potatoes cut in half...and mine was actually missing the sauce. I'm not sure how that dish leaves the kitchen in a restaurant that is supposed to be of high caliber. They need to do better.

We had a 7 PM reservation on a Wednesday night, and the place and parking lot were packed! Good sign to start! To begin, I enjoyed the Ruby grapefruit mocktail. Although I'd love trying new and unique cocktails at different establishments, I was in the mood for something light and refreshing and nonalcoholic. This hit just a spot. For food, we started off with the margherita pizza to share. Then, I opted for the crispy, buttermilk chicken sandwich with malt vinegar, potato wedges/fries. It was very delicious. The sandwich was crispy and fresh and the bun looked like it was handcrafted. The malt fries were unique because they had a vinegar powder on them. I've never tasted malt vinegar before, and it was a unique texture. Our waitress was very friendly, but I wish she had been a bit more attentive. She only stopped by to ask us for our drink order, our food order, and to give the check. My friends wanted to order more drinks, but because she did not come around as frequently as we would have liked, they were unable to place another order. I will give her the benefit of the doubt, however, because the restaurant was bustling from start to finish. Overall, very nice setting and meal. Cute decor, including an Anthony Bourdain abstract portrait.

Turns out that CB has not fully undone the rebranding. You will see places where the logo no longer has an old man by the barrel. The triangle games at the tables no longer say "Four or more you're just plain ig-no-ra-moose." I miss that. They went PC. More importantly, a couple of things here I never encountered previously: someone to greet us as we walked in, the ability to pay from your table instead of up front, and a completely revamped menu. So, the menu has a lot of new dishes, a section with the old favorites - both for the mains and the sides - but I definitely did not have the comfort level here that I'm used to at a CB. Food? I'd say we're still where CB has always been. No change to my fried okra. They accidentally brought a second mac & cheese, let us keep it. They brought cornbread and biscuits while we waited (I asked), and then another bowl with the meal - let us keep it. Very nice! Cornbread still as addictive as ever, biscuits nice and soft. The mac is OK, maybe better if you upgrade with the bacon bits. My third side - I went up for onion petals, and those are mostly breading. Skip those, even if the dip was nice. Get the dip with something else. Too full for dessert, though they have ones I remember and new ones as I figured. The special seasonal lemonade - I think it was strawberry peach limeade - was interesting, the lime threw things a bit but I appreciated the "different" flavor and there was totally puree in there, strawberry seeds I could taste. That was . Verdict: Some things never change. Some things change. But the Barrel's still Crackin' to meet you.
