This is the best brunch and lunch stop in town. It is located on Route 66 near the Santa Fe shopping center on the east side of Flagstaff. It is the same restaurant that used to exist on 4th Street until last year, with the same owners. I reviewed that one as well, and while that review was the work of a talented amateur Yelper, this one will be the work of a seasoned professional Yelper! The same rule applies to this place to a certain extent. While the first location was already excellent, this one is bigger and much nicer, and there are more places to sit inside and outside here compared to the last location. As for the food, it is always excellent and I have never had a bad experience here in the three years I have been coming here. There are quite a few items to choose from here. First I must mention the baked goods. This is one of the few places in Flagstaff that has a decent selection of homemade baked goods. Their offerings include cookies, danish, cupcakes, cheesecake, and more. All of these are excellent in quality. On occasions in the past, I have observed that they sometimes run out of them, so if you are in the need of some of them, I would suggest you come here early, or maybe see if you can order some ahead of time. As for the lunches, there is not a bad sandwich in the house. My favorites are the Blue Moo, and the Tom Terrific turkey. The Blue Moo is a roast beef panini with a bleu cheese spread, spinach, peppers, onion, and others. The Tom Terrific panini consists of turkey, tomato, marinated artichoke hearts, red onion, and Swiss cheese with a spread of jalapeno mayo grilled in a Parmesan crusted telera roll. Both are amongst the best sandwiches I have ever had. They are also formerly members of the rotating featured sandwich of the week. Every week there is a featured sandwich, with the exception of their Quiche Me Monday's, First Friday Frybreads, and other specials throughout the year. Additionally, they have a different soup or chili every day, and a small assortment of sides to choose from. My favorite is the bowtie pasta salad. Last but not least, they have a wide assortment of beverages to choose from. They have the usual teas, coffee, and italian soda, however their best beverage is the VCP, which is essentially Pepsi with a dollop of heavy cream. It is an excellent treat. Finally I would be remiss if I didn't mention their customer service. The owners, Charlene and Reggie are amongst the finest people you will ever meet. They treat their customers warmly and always take the time to greet their regular customers by their first names when they come in. The same goes for the rest of the staff, most notably Brandi, who has been there ever since they opened up the 4th Street cafe 3 years ago. If I were to give them any criticism, it would be that they really need to improve the signage inside. specifically, the size of the lettering on the boards above the customer service counter that contain the menu items. This was also my main criticism of the last location as well. The signage is very difficult for me to read, even with glasses. Also, I have witnessed many people in the past having some degree of difficulty reading them as well, including today. This can result in long lines, and hold up the speed of service, which given the popularity of this place, can happen often during peak hours. Some may often bristle at the prices, however you get what you pay for because everything on their menu is homemade with fresh and high quality ingredients. Where else in town can you find a place that uses bleu cheese spread on their sandwiches? Still, if your worst feature is poor signage, I would say that is not bad for a small cafe. I would dock it a half star because of the signage, but I really lean more towards giving it 5 stars than 4 based on the quality of the food and customer service alone. Yelp's star system just doesn't cut it when it comes to my ability to provide the most accurate review unfortunately. So in short, this is one of the most criminally underrated lunch stops in town. I understand that it is probably out of the way for many Flagstaffians, and especially the lunch crowd from Downtown. However if you are craving great food and don't care about the extra expense, I would definitely give this place a try. You won't regret it. read more

This is a really charming lunch joint in modest strip mall on Route 66. The interior is bright, open and it has a quirky theme of classic lunchboxes, with two displays of such, dating from the mid 1960s ("Prairie Man") to the mid 1980s ("Return of the Jedi"), dominated by 1970s (Fat Albert, Kung Fu,etc) The menu is mostly sandwiches and salads, all done with a kind of extra healthy flavor. I had a turkey sandwich (Perky Turkey) with a side of sliced veggies and dip. It felt healthy and the proprietor was really nice. 1970s music in the background matched the lunchbox theme well. read more

Absolute favorite place! The Italian grilled cheese is a must! The bow tie pasta too!

I have been to Jitter's Lunchbox several times and I am always happy. The quality is very good. The Bleu Moo sandwich is amazing and everyone is very friendly. Today I ordered the Porky Pine Salad to go. I got back to work so excited to eat this salad. "Rosemary/apple marinated pork loin, chunky blue cheese, dried cranberries, pine nuts, thinly sliced red onion, and dried apple chips served on a bed of romaine with the Lunchbox's House dressing." I opened it and the first thing I said was "where is the pork' the second was 'that's a lot of bleu cheese". I forgot all about the pine nuts. I found some of those later, after I picked out a ton of bleu cheese (see my picture of that), I ate a lot of the bleu cheese as well. This salad was so disappointing. There is a picture of it posted, mine looked nothing like that. Very small (teeny tiny) pieces of pork which I felt I had to dig around to find. I like bleu cheese but it overshadowed the entire salad. I am really bummed. I am still rating Jitter's Lunchbox with 4 stars because this is the first time I have ever had a complaint. I just won't order this salad again. A note to whomever is making the salads, ease up on the cheese and add a little more meat! My friends Chicken Caesar salad had way too much parmesan cheese too. Jitter's catered an event I was at last summer and I FELL IN LOVE with their baked goods. The owner and his wife also have a wonderful story of how they acquired the business and kept it going Well still paying homage to what it was before. The baked goods are out of this world. You would never expect it when you walk in to what looks like a regular sandwich shop in a strip mall. But the owners are so lovely, and the baked goods are amazing! We had just finished a 4-mile hike in Picture Canyon and just wanted something fresh and light for a late lunch. Boy, did this place fit the bill! I had the Nutclucker sandwich (chicken salad with delicious toasted cashews on top) with the tomato basil pasta salad. My husband had the Cowasabi sandwich with chips. As my husband put it, good thing we don't live here or we would be giving all our money to this restaurant. On our way to the Grand Canyon from Sedona we stop here to pickup some sandwiches. The services was awesome. When they learned we were out-of-towers on the way to the Grand Canyon they recommended an unmarked trail that was a short hike with facilities and picking tables. It was incredible. We ordered cold sandwiches since we still needed to drive over an hour and we're going to do a mile hike. I had the egg salad sandwich. It was so good! It had tomatoes, Romain lettuce and chips! I want to try to make at home. The bow tie salad that comes with the sandwiches is also really good. read more

On the road, our first time in Flagstaff (visiting from CA) driving through to the Grand Canyon, and needed a place that could accommodate food allergies and Celiac Disease. Jitter's was perfect! Their homemade pazole was delicious, sandwiches were awesome (all sandwiches are available on gluten free bread - panini/grilled sandwiches are made on same equipment as gluten bread so we skipped those for my family who have celiac, but the cold sandwiches were delish), the salads look tasty and they even had a couple gf peanut butter cookies. Casual atmosphere and really kind, attentive staff. Counter order, food delivered to your table. Great find and will back again I if in the area! read more

It's been quite awhile since a visit to Flagstaff matched Jitters' hours and our available time. Now I remember why we love this place so much! Great food, scary reasonable prices, and best of all incredibly friendly and genuinely nice staff! The young lady who took our order was able to accommodate my request for half a sandwich and a side salad for my dad. He's a happy 95-year-old, and says the coffee's good, too! My Beefy Mushroom sandwich ought to have been illegal! Holy cow, it was good! Dad's Ham I Am must have been good, because all that's left is a toothpick! I upgraded my sandwich to include a cup of soup for my wife-- a creamy corn chowder with crab and Hatch chilis. I stole a tiny taste, purely for research, you see, and had to restrain myself from telling my wife that it got lost on the way to pick her up. So, I said reasonable prices. My specialty sandwich was $11.99 and upgrading to include the soup was an extra $1.99. Dad's upgrade in his sandwich to trade half the sandwich for a--gorgeous by the way--side salad was fifty cents! I stopped here on my way through town based on the reviews I saw, and was sorry that I did. For around $11 I got a Nutclucker sandwich on gluten free bread. The bread was horrible quality- the super dry kind that used to be the only kind of gf bread available 7 years ago! And on said dry bread there were two grossly undersized dollops of the cashew chicken salad. I was actually hopeful that after waiting about 15 minutes for my sandwich that the people leisurely assembling the food in the back were crafting something amazing, but that unfortunately wasn't the case. To add insult to injury, the bag of jalapeño chips I got with the sandwich was stale and gross (I thought for SURE a bad of chips would be a success?). The only thing I actually enjoyed was my iced tea. :( read more

We searched Yelp for a place to have lunch and discovered Jitter's Lunchbox. I love to eat veggies and my partner enjoys turkey sandwiches! We both found a sandwich that we liked! I had the Garden of Eatin' (without dairy) with veggie ribbons and he had the Perky Turkey without the Dijon mustard with kettle chips. Nothing fancy, just plain good eating in a pleasant ambiance staffed by nice hardworking people. The clam chowder wouldn't win awards in New England, but it was unexpected in the Rockies. The salads are fresh and well composed. So this is a place to go for reasonably priced lunches. read more

This was good 3.5. not great. My expectations must have been too high that day. The food was very fresh, the place is clean and tables were spaced nicely, not too close. My sandwich was just okay. Nothing to get too excited about. it was laking a bit in the flavor department. I ordered the vegetarian, with pesto cream cheese. It was lack luster. I did however put some of the raw veg dip on it and that improved the taste.the black bean soup was good, just not GREAT. Thats why 3.5. The service was awesome. They were timely in the preparation. I was in for the 1st time last week. I had no idea what to order as the menu has so many options. The gentleman taking my order asked what I liked.
