If I could give this place zero or even negative stars I would. The food was not great, definitely not worth $18 for a sandwich and drink, there was wilted lettuce and the sandwiches were very dry. As someone who works food service I don't normally have issues when eating out and have never written a bad review before. But the craziest thing is after receiving the food, which we asked to be packaged to go, we were still sitting for a few moments, then the owner verbally accosted my group for being "wasteful" and asking for the food to go and still sitting. Why offer to go options if you're going to get mad at people for asking for it? I guess that energy is why the place was empty apart from the granddaughter who threatened to fight me.... We've hired Apen Deli (catering) twice so far this summer for their amazing food and service. The sandwiches are SOOOO good and the sides are too. They think of everything and bring it ready to be served so there's no need to worry about presentation, or supplies (plates, plasticware, etc.). I'm so glad we finally tried Aspen Deli while on a little vacation in Flagstaff because this will now be our go-to lunch spot. Service was incredibly friendly and fast. My husband and I had a tough time deciding on which sandwiches we wanted so we got two to share. We had the Beaver Street cold sandwich with a side of homemade chips. The bacon was super thick and the fig jam absolutely delicious. The chips were also great! We also got the Hot Pastrami with a side of fruit. This sandwich was stacked with super tender pastrami and the side of fruit was fresh and good. These sandwiches were massive and we were both so full we had to walk for 20 mins around town just to feel comfortable again haha! This is by far my favorite lunch spot in Flagstaff! We truly enjoyed Aspen Deli for many reasons. Firstly this family owned business was full of kind welcoming energy that we loved. We sat outside and it was a lovely day! This seating made the meal feel like a picnic. The meal was so delicious - we chose "the aspen" sandwich which I was one of my favorite meals we ate in Flagstaff. I will mention the Thai soup was on the spicy side - but everything else was great. Think Covid era Deli. Meat to bread ratio is way off. I had a single slice of turkey meat, three slices of salami and a single slice of cheese on my sandwich. Uninspired to say the least. Aspen is a staple for downtown employees & flagstaff locals for a reason. I love how they switch up the sides (that come with every sandwich). My favorites are the slaws, house chips (so good), cucumber salad. They have so many they rotate through and there's 10 or so to choose from so there's something for everyone. I ordered the lumberjack club (I did substitute the pesto Mayo that usually comes on it for regular Mayo instead as I'm not a fan of pesto ever...) and I'm not exaggerating when I say it was perfect. The sandwich was massive, the sourdough bread perfectly toasted, the meats were truly top notch deli meat (boars head maybe), the bacon was thick cut and cooked perfectly crisp, and the lettuce and tomato fresh. Just look at the not great reviews you will see Carlos' customer service for yourself, the way he responds with attitude here is also the way he interacts with customers even when he's in the kitchen and there's no discrepancy. They have AMAZING sandwiches, it's true, but it's getting less and less worth it to endure the customer service which is saying a lot because we always order to-go and are polite to minimize our interaction as much as possible. Without fail, everytime we are in the owners are either rude to us or other patrons and now it's being reflected in the staff as well. The business would easily have 5 stars if they could simply reciprocate politeness. It's so consistent that when we bring someone new we forewarn them to the point it's become a game that we test them by being as kind as possible, but even still ALWAYS AN ATTITUDE. What made it unbearable today is that now even the staff/Latisha running the counter are being rude. so now we get to experience the owners being rude from the kitchen and Latisha being rude at the counter. If you all are so busy that it's impossible for you to be kind then it's time to start hiring more staff. I used to stop by more frequently when I work downtown, but not so much anymore because parking downtown at lunch is not fun. But they do make pretty good sandwiches here. The ingredients always seem fresh and the staff is a always friendly. The last couple visits I had the Aspen which is turkey breast, avocado, harvarti cheese, lettuce, tomato and mayo on honey wheat bread. I'm also sucker for an egg salad sandwich and got the El Diablo which is a deviled egg salad sandwich with bacon, lettuce and tomato on sourdough bread. Speaking of deviled egg, they make a pretty good one of those too. Sandwiches are served with housemaid potato chips and I like to order the fresh lemonade with my meal. read more

You pretty much can't go wrong with anything! Their sandwiches are fresh, tasty and they don't skimp on the ingredients! And their sides are amazing! I could have a meal off of their sides only! And they do a different spin on them daily from deviled eggs to potato salad to pasta salads and more! I'm guessing that you see a pattern here, I really love their sides! Some of my sandwich faves are the Chicken Pesto Panini, Southwest Turkey Panini, Black and Blue Panini, Italian Beef, El Diablo, Lumberjack Club and the California Turkey Club Wrap, but honestly you cannot go wrong with anything here! I got a dessert for the first time today to take home. It was a caramel apple something, something but I tell you it was a challenge for me to share it with my husband! We had dueling forks! Came here during our road trip to Grand Canyon and Antelope Canyon as a stopover lunch. We tried the Reuben and Aspen. Both were delicious, this was one of our favorite lunch spots our whole trip. The bread is fresh, from a local nearby breadmaker. Meat is sliced freshly there. Portions were perfect (we had leftovers!). Service was super friendly, a young man came by and refilled our water, chatted with us about the snowstorm outside. We'd definitely come back here when in Flagstaff.
