Delicious coffee! Super nice employees. Cute little restaurant so warm & cozy. Food all looked delicious.

Atmosphere - A corner with bookshelves filled with books, framed photos on the wall, and various seating options in a coffee shop or library setting.

The food? Immaculate. The drink menu? LONG. The quality of drinks and food? Dare I say the best. The service? Makes me feel like Ive known them all my life with how welcoming they are. Any questions you have on the menu, they will answer. After my first time there I had to go 3 more times that same week. I would've gone more if they were open on the weekends! The first time I had it I thought "where has this been all my life?" I couldn't help but tell all my family about it and they all love it as well! They tend to sell out so get there early! It just shows how delicious their food is!

Absolutely love this place! This amazing, independent coffee shop in downtown Joliet--a few blocks from the courthouse, library, and casino--serves Intelligentsia coffee (Chicago based brand), homemade sandwiches, and desserts. Everything about Jitters gives you a "welcome to my home" comfort. The owner is lively and jovial. The dining area in the back is an eclectic collection of furniture, art, and lighting. (Some might view it as piecemeal decorating, however, I welcome it to the brand monotony provided at chain coffee shops.) The stacked breakfast sandwiches are piled with egg, cheese, bacon or sausage, on a variety of bread options (croissants, bagel, etc.). If I was entertaining for brunch, this is exactly what I would offer! *The only drawback to Jitters is the unpredictable hours. While I routinely visit about once or twice a month, there have been several instances where I am turned away by a handwritten sign citing reason for closure. Considering it's the same two ladies every time, I understand; they're doing their best to keep a small business downtown Joliet. Driving anywhere from :20 to :30 in traffic, however, makes this a truly frustrating experience. My recommendation: if Jitters is a jaunt for you to get to, call ahead.

Family owned and ran business in Joliet, they have great options for coffee drinks, breakfast and lunch! When you walk in it feels like a set from a movie. They made me feel welcomed and you could tell this was there the whole town gets coffee, everyone knows each other by first name. If I'm in the area I would def come back, their small coffee is LARGE and their spanakopita was delicious, I should've gotten 2!

Coffee And The Avocado Toast - A coffee cup filled with a light-colored beverage and a white plate with avocado toast topped with sliced tomatoes, red onions, and balsamic glaze on a wooden table.

About the best place for coffee in Joliet is this cafe downtown. It has plenty to drink and also eat. Jitters is a nice quiet place to hang out. Good for getting work completed. They have some healthy food like avocado toast. It doesn't look like a place that people would say is hip but that doesn't mean if you come here you aren't cool. Lots of tasty coffee drinks and breakfast food to choose from. They have some unexpectedly healthy options. Prices are pretty cheap compared to a lot of other coffee shops around. The coffee here is Intelligentsia. It's $3 for a cup. They have some non dairy milks like almond and oat. Avocado Toast is one of the food options and kicks ass. It's $5 for a slice. This is topped with cucumbers, onions, and tomatoes. It makes a hearty breakfast. This is a good price for something that's usually sky fucking high. Best place in Joliet for breakfast. It has fresh tasting coffee and food. There's some things to eat for vegetarians.

a storefront with a sign for the store - Jitters Coffee House storefront features large windows with signage, pumpkins, and an American flag outside, with outdoor seating and decorative plants.

A cool coffee shop with a super warm feel inside and great decor. Tastefully decorated with tables and comfy chairs. Latte was delicious, as was my Spanokopita light lunch.

    Breakfast sandwiches are absolutely fantastic!

So we tried it. Merichka's serves good food with good service in a non-fancy kind of restaurant. It has various dining areas and a small bar. The room we sat in was nondescript with not one decoration on the walls. The multiple ceiling fans were running so I froze all throughout dinner. I didn't get our server's name, but she provided good service and was engaging. She always came back to check on us. The other staff we encountered was thorough in delivering food and removing dirty plates. We started with cocktails, a bourbon neat for him and an old-fashioned for me. My husband enjoyed his bourbon, however my old-fashioned was Wisconsin style which I didn't enjoy. We shared the mushrooms as a starter - I have to admit they were perfection! The portion was generous and the crust was perfectly crispy without being greasy. I think we missed the boat, though, because we didn't order the onion rings, which looked sensational. Dinners come with a relish tray and a couple sides. The relish tray had cottage cheese, a bean salad and a pasta salad. Again, generous in size. My hubby had a steak with fried shrimp for dinner and his sides were a salad and twice baked potato. He ordered the steak rare because he didn't trust that it would be cooked to medium rare. He was right to go rare because it came out a little pink. I opted for the baked cod for dinner with a salad and twice baked potato. My cod was 12oz and was moist and flaky. I didn't even put a dent in my dinner because I was full from the mushrooms and relish tray. We ended up bringing most of our entrees home. I'm glad we tried this restaurant out, but honestly even though the food was decent, I didn't enjoy the bare bones atmosphere and being uncomfortable throughout dinner because the fans were on. If you like a supper club without the frills, I think you would like this place.

For appetizers, we ordered the chips with guacamole and salsa. We weren't expecting the chips to come out hot and clearly fresh from the fryer, but wow, perfectly crisp with just the right amount of salt. The guacamole tasted fresh and clean, and the salsa had a great balance of heat and flavor without overpowering anything. I ordered the birria tacos, and they were outstanding.
